Chapter 272
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
âAllie, are you tight with Dr. Dylan?â Grace asked.
âSort of.â Grace didnât have a clue about her history with Dr. Dylan. As she accompanied Grace into the elevator, she said, âI used to come here a lot, so Iâm pretty chummy with the medical staffâ
âAllie, when are you gonna bring a boyfriend home? Mom can give him the onceâover.â Grace said.
âNo rushâ Allison, playfully clinging to Graceâs arm, said, Iâm only 21. No need to hurry.â
âNo need to hurry? Youâll be 22 when you graduate. Working a few years, youâll need to think about having babies.â Grace said.
Allison sidestepped the topic. She took Grace for a series of tests. The results wouldnât be ready until the afternoon.
She first took Grace to the Blue Mountain Estate. Looking around, Grace asked, âAllie, how come you moved here? This place must cost a pretty pennyâ
âMom, I didnât want to live in that tiny house behind the Flanagans anymore.â Allison furrowed her brows slightly. âThe lighting there was awful.â
âIâm sorry I made you put up with that, itâs my fault Grace sighed, seemingly blaming herself, repeating, âItâs my fault.â
Allison quickly hugged Grace, âMom, youâre the best, I love you the most.â
Graceâs face was a mix of regret and guilt. This kindâhearted girl shouldnât have had to go through so much hardship.
But! They all owed her!
In that instant, Graceâs face turned cold. If Allison saw it, she would be shocked because this was the first time she had seen such a cold expression on the normally gentle Grace.
Unfortunately, Allisonâs face was buried in Graceâs shoulder, so she didnât see.
In the afternoon, after settling Grace down, Allison went to the hospital to get the test results. Seeing the numbers, she breathed a sigh of relief. Her creatinine levels were a bit unstable, but much better than before. She went to the clinic, Dr. Dylan glanced at the report and gave her some advice, âKeep taking the antiârejection meds daily. Everything else looks good. Just keep up with regular checkâups.â
Allison said, âThank you, Dr. Dylan.â
Dr. Dylan responded seriously, âYou donât have to be so formal.â
Just then, Dr. Dylanâs phone on the desk rang.
The screen displayed âJade.â
Allison gave a slight smile, âDr. Dylan, I wonât interrupt youâ She turned and left.
Dr. Dylan frowned slightly, picked up the call, âHey, Jade, Iâm with a patient. Canât talk now.â
Jade on the other end was insistent, âDid you see Allison?â
Dr. Dylan was clearly annoyed, âAllisonâs mother is my patient. Whatâs wrong with me seeing her?â
He didnât ask how Jade knew; it was pointless.
Jade snapped back, âYou canât let her go, can you? You still have feelings for her! Dylan, Iâve done so much for you. Arenât you the least bit grateful?â
Faced with Jadeâs irrational behavior, Dr. Dylan sighed, âJade, Iâm really busy. There are patients who need me. I have to hang up now.â
Fuming, Jade stomped her foot. She was the daughter of the deputy director and had always been a high achiever. Lots of guys chased her. This had never happened before!
But she was smitten with Dr. Dylan.
She called a nurse in the nephrology department, âKeep an eye on Dr. Dylan for me. Let me know if Allison meets up with him again.â a
