Chapter 320
The Billionaire’s Maid Bride
Her lips curled up in the slightest smile, âSheâs the one who got me this gig.â
Sarah let out a sigh and said, Tve already said no to her, but that doesnât mean she wonât find another way to trip you up. Be careful. And honestly, this job isnât all that I actually think youâd make a better actress.â
The Red Jack Club was like a mini society, and Allison had learned a lot here. She grinned, âI think itâs pretty cool here.â
And Sarah had been nothing but kind to her.
âLeah is Penelopeâs mom. Iâve never liked them, and theyâve never liked me. Theyâre always looking for a way to stick it to me. I canât believe theyâre even trying to snatch this job from me.â Allisonâs gaze turned icy, âTheyâre not leaving me any room to breathe.â
Sarah recalled how Penelope had wanted Allison to be her stand-in, probably just to humiliate her. She furrowed her brow, âWatch out for Serena. If Leah got shut down by me, she definitely wonât take it lying down. She might go to Serena, whoâs the manager here. She can fire an employee just like that.â
âIf she wants to fire me, sheâd need a good reason! I havenât done anything wrong. On what grounds can she fire me?â Allison said, Sarah shook her head. âIâve known Serena for five years. She plays dirty. To become a manager, she had an affair with the previous manager and the assistant manager Allison, youâre too naive. She just needs an excuse to fire you. If you canât prove your innocence, I canât protect you.â
1 get it.â Allison nodded, âIâll be careful.â
âAllison, youâre constantly under pressure here and being manipulated. This is just a waitress job, the pay is just the result of your hard work and tips. Maybe the world outside would be better for you.â
Sarah said.
Allison shook her head, âSarah, you donât understand. Theyâre holding my diploma hostage. I canât graduate.â
âWhich school are you in? I know quite a few people; I could help you out.â Sarah offered.
Allison was grateful to Sarah, but her situation was complicated, so she declined Sarahâs help.
Sarah asked, âHow long do you plan to work here? Seriously, Penelope is constantly humiliating you, making you her stand-in. Donât you want to turn the tables on her one day? I heard from Gavin that youâre a good actress. With your personality and looks, if youâre serious about acting, even though itâs tough, you could totally make a name for yourself.â
Sarah had been at the Red Jack Club for over a decade. Allison was the most stunning girl sheâd ever seen, in terms of both looks and personality. Penelope and Allison looked somewhat alike, but their personalities were worlds apart. Penelope seemed pretty, but on closer inspection, she came off as a bit tacky.
Allison was indeed tempted. She had thought about it. âSarah, I understand what youâre saying. I think about it.â
At 11 PM that night, as Allison was about to head home, she saw Payton at the entrance of the Red Jack Club.
Payton was sitting on the steps in front of the club, watching the constant flow of traffic.
âPayton, you havenât gone home yet? I heard from Vera that you were feeling unwell Allison asked.
Allison walked over, noticing Paytonâs red eyes. It was obvious sheâd been crying. She bent down and asked, âPayton, whatâs wrong?â
âI saw him.â Paytonâs lips moved, âIt was really him.â
Allison had known Payton for four months and was familiar with her story Paytonâs family had taken in a boy when she was little. Payton came from scholarly family, but the boy had gotten into trouble and was expelled from school, later getting involved in a murder case. Even though he was eventually cleared, Paytonâs parents, who came from a respectable family, were obviously unhappy about it. So the boy left, and promised to return one day to marry Payton.
However, there was no news from him since then.
