“Sister-in-law!” Gao Yang was taken aback, for Xia Ning moved before he could react. He stepped forward, but instead of trying to stop Xia Ning, he looked at Qiao Yu.

Qiao Yu stood where he was and kept his gaze on Xia Ning. This was the first time she had been this agitated and said so many words after the two of them got back together.

Mu Zichen straightened his clothes. For a moment there, he thought Xia Ning was going to strangle him, which scared him out of his wits. Qiao Yu’s woman was as fierce as he was.

“It’s late. You should get going.” Qiao Yu made the verdict.

Gao Yang nodded. “Brother, Sister-in-law, we’ll be on our way.”

Mu Zichen still wanted to say something but decided not to when he saw the look on Xia Ning’s face. Offend her and Alex would be the one he had to answer to.

“Alex, Sister-in-law, we’re off,” said Mu Zichen.

Xia Ning had her back to them and didn’t say a word.

Qiao Yu nodded at them. Mu Zichen and Gao Yang exchanged a look, then left.

Once outside, Mu Zichen and Gao Yang realized that the snow had stopped. The cold wind made them shudder.

Mu Zichen sighed with relief after they got into their car. “What a fierce lady. I bet Alex is the only man that can handle her!”

Gao Yang glanced at Mu Zichen. “I think Xia Ning has a point. You should be more serious about this thing. Children are very important to women and abortion can do a lot of damage to their health. It’s not like you don’t like Wen Yue. Why can’t you accept the fact that you two are having a baby?”

“It’s easy for you to say!” Mu Zichen rolled his eyes at Gao Yang. “I never want to get married, nor become a father. How am I supposed to accept this?”

“Xia Ning left something unsaid.” Gao Yang looked at Mu Zichen.

“What is that?”

“You’re a scumbag!”

Mu Zichen was displeased. “Gao Yang, what’s that supposed to mean? Tell me...”

“You heard me.”
