Chapter 265
The Love From Vengeance
265: GAMERS LUKEâS POV I walked into the living room to see Randy and Ethan engrossed in a soccer video game. They were both sitting on the edge of the couch, their eyes glued to the TV screen.
I couldnât help but chuckle at their intense concentration. âWhat are you guys playing?â I asked, trying to stifle my laughter.
âItâs this new soccer game,â Randy replied, not taking his eyes off the screen. âItâs so cool; you should try it.â
âIâm good,â I said, shrugging my shoulders. âIâll just watch.â
Randy and Ethan continued playing, with Randy leading by four goals to nil. I couldnât believe how good Randy was at the game; he was completely dominating Ethan. I couldnât resist teasing him a little.
âIs this how you spend your mornings, Randy?â I teased. âBeating your brother at video games?â
Randy shot me a playful glare. âIâm not just beating him; Iâm destroying him,â he said proudly.
I couldnât help but laugh at his confidence. âWell, I used to be pretty good at this game when I was younger,â I said, trying to sound modest.
âReally?â Randyâs eyes lit up with excitement. âThen why donât you play against me? Letâs see if you still have it.â
âTrust me, you do not want that happening.â`
âWhy? Are you scared?â Randy playfully smirked at me.
I looked at him for a moment, and if that was what he wanted, then so be it. I couldnât turn down this challenge now.
I took Ethanâs controller and sat down next to Randy. âAlright, youâre on.
The game began, and I felt the competitive spirit rising. I was determined to beat Randy and show him that I still had what it took. We played with intense focus, both of us trying our best to score goals and defend our nets.
In the end, I emerged as the clear winner, with six goals to Randyâs nil. I couldnât resist a smirk of satisfaction as I handed back the controller to Ethan.
âIt looks like Iâm still the king of this game,â I said, trying to hide my smugness.
Randy rolled his eyes at me, but I could see a hint of admiration in them. âOkay, okay, you win,â he conceded. âBut I have to admit, you were pretty good.â
I felt a sense of pride at his words. âThanks, little guy,â I said, patting him on the back.
Ethan couldnât stop laughing at Randyâs defeat. âRandy, you got beat. And here you were, acting like you were the beast of this game.â
Randy playfully shoved him away. âShut up, Ethan. At least I put up a good fight.â
We all laughed and continued playing the game, taking turns and trying to beat each otherâs scores. I know it was too early for that, but the morning was quite fun, filled with laughter and friendly competition, and I couldnât have asked for a better way to spend it. Well, there were better ways, but this was awesome.
After some minutes spent in this game, we eventually put down the controllers, which felt like hours.
âYou know, Randy,â I said, ruffling his hair. âMaybe youâll be as good as me one day.â
Randy just rolled his eyes at me, but I could see a glimmer of determination in them. Who knows, maybe one day heâll surpass me in this game. But for now, I was happy to be the reigning champion in our little living room tournament.
âNever!â Ethan joked loudly, standing on the couch. âRandâs a loser. Randyâs a loser. Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.â
âKeep it down, will you?â I held him and made him sit down.
âI know. I was just joking.â
âWell, you have to be careful with your jokes. Do you want to upset Randy?â
âOh, please, he totally understands. Heâs not going to get mad.â Ethan glanced at Randy. âRight, Randy?â
Randy nodded, and Ethan smiled at me. âSee, itâs just natural. We always make fun of each other, but that doesnât mean weâre enemies.â
âIâm not saying youâre enemies. Just be careful, okay?â
âYes, sir,â Ethan said loudly, in a playful tone.
I laughed right away and ruffled his hair. âSilly.â
âDaddy?â Janice pooped up on the stairs. Cleaning her eyes. I could tell she was still sleepy.
âOh, Janice, sweetheart.â I got up from the couch and quickly walked to her. âYouâre finally awake, little one.â
She yawned. âWhereâs mommy?â
ARIELâS POV âLukeâs all good,â I gave Andre in response to his question.
âThat good? I thought he was shot in the shoulder.â
âThat man can be unbelievable sometimes, especially when shot.â
âHow many times has he been shot?â
âI canât remember clearly; it should be two or three.â
Andre chuckled. âWow, your husbandâs bulletproof.â
I laughed. âSay what now?â
âNothing. Iâm just surprised and a little bit jealous.â
âHe still feels the pain, though.â
âBut he acts like he doesnât feel a damn thing,â André told me. I laughed softly and fed him another spoon.
âArenât you going to eat?â
âNo, Iâm good.â
âOh really? Youâve had breakfast?â
âNo,â I answered, shaking my head.
âThen have some.
âNah, Iâm good.â
âOhhhhhhhhh,â André uttered. I furrowed my brows at him promptly. âI see whatâs happening here.â
âWhat?â
âI can see whatâs happening here,â he said again.
âWhat?â I repeated my question.
âYou donât want to have a taste of this food, right?â
âExcuse me?â I heaved one of my eyebrows.
âYou donât like this hospital food. But youâre here, feeding me.â
âNo, thatâs not it. Iâm not hungry.â
âOkay, then, have a spoon.â
I gave him a crazy look. âNo.â
âThen itâs pretty clear now.â
âThink whatever you want to think; thatâs none of my business.â
Andre snatched the spoon from my hand, served some food, and wanted to feed me, was closed to the fullest. There was no way I was letting that shit get in.
but my mouth âCome on now, Ariel. Just one spoon,â he suggested.
âJust let it be; Iâm not hungry.â
âOkay then. Iâm not hungry as well.â He dropped the spoon and pushed the tray aside.
âYou have to eat.â
âIâm not hungry.â
âYouâre at a hospital, doofus. Youâll need some food for strength.â
âI have all the strength I need,â Andre said, letting out a deep sigh. âSo, have you heard from Mason?â
âNo, I donât even know where he is right now. If heâs dead or if heâs still alive, âHe canât be dead. Heâs definitely hiding somewhere.â
âYeah, youâre probably right about that.â
âI canât believe my brother would do all those things. I canât believe he would be so heartless.â Andre spoke lowly, his expression making it clear that he was thinking about the moments spent with his younger brother.
âHe always had this bitter character, this terrible attitude, this disgusting demeanor. Butâ¦â He trailed off, letting out a deep sigh. âI donât even know what to say.â
âAre you surprised?â I asked him.
âOf course, Iâm surprised. I never thought Mason would go to such lengths to get payback. His actions left me shocked, honestly.â
âIâm sorry, Andre,â I told him, fixing my hand on his shoulder. âBut thatâs just it. Mason is a heartless human being.â
He looked at me. âSo, what are you going to do to him?â
