Chapter 35
The Love From Vengeance
35 STAY ARIELâS POV I arrived home, and right in the living room, these four were gathered: Andre, Mason, Seth, and Michael. They were all sitting down. I slowly closed the door and walked in their direction in the same manner. I could discern Masonâs gaze towards me; it wasnât a nice one, so I took my eyes off him and fixed them on a better person.
âYou all came home early,â I said, advancing towards them. I sat close to Andre, trying my very best to ignore Masonâs gaze. âSo whatâs the discussion about?â
âWe had an issue at our company in Canada, so weâll need to go there to resolve it,â Andre answered.
âOkay, hold on, so weâre going back to Canada?â I needed to be clear about this whole discussion.
âYes, but Mason here insists that we stay a little longer. He says he has some things to take care of in New Haven, but I have no idea what they are, and he keeps on refusing to tell me.â
âCome on now, brother, why are you still stressing yourself over this? Iâve already told you. You can go to Canada with all these two, but Ariel and I will stay to run the business around here.â
Andre looked at me instantly. âYou agree with that, Ariel?â
âOf course sheâs going to agree,â Mason chimed in. âRemember, we have an ongoing project with The Reynold Company. Someone will have to be in charge around here to see how that goes.â
âI agree,â Seth brought out and turned to Andre. âLook, sir, the project with Luke Reynoldâs company is really important, and indeed, someone will need to represent us. The Vitality Group at New Haven is gradually developing, so someone needs to handle it. I believe Ariel will be able to do that flawlessly.â
Andre nodded. âThat is true. But I need to hear from Ariel first. Letâs see what she has to say- if sheâs going to follow us to Canada or stay here in New Haven.â
I breathed out deeply. âWell, Iâd really love to go back to Canada; my babies must be missing me,â I uttered, looking at Mason. His glare towards me was slowly coming up, I continued, âBut as Seth has said, Vitality Group is in New Haven, so we need someone to manage it.
So I think Iâll stay.â
âAre you sure about that?â Andre asked, looking fixedly at me.
I stared back at him for seconds before finally answering, âYes, Iâm sure. Iâm sure about that.â
Michael clapped his hands right away. âSee? Case closed. I told you all itâs going to be easy once Ariel arrives. His words caused me to laugh silently.
âSo will Ariel be the only one staying?â Andre threw a question.
âI thought I told you,â Mason vocalized, and we all glanced at him. âIâll be staying here with her. Vitality Group is indeed going to need a genius.â He felt so proud of himself.
âOkay then,â Andre uttered beneath his breath. âGuess, itâs all settled then.â
âNow time for refreshments.â Michael clasped his hands together, and his eyes went to me forthwith.
âSo, miss,â he said, giving me a knowing look.
âWhat?â I asked him incontinently.
âIâm hungry.â
Seth glared at Michael. âHow many times do I have to tell you to act mature? Youâre no little kid.â
âI wasnât talking to you in the first place.â Michael frowned back at him.
âOkay, okay, thereâs no need to start an argument.â Andre tried to calm them down. âWe need to start packing our stuff!â
âWhen will the three of you be leaving?â I queried. Not that curious, though.
âTomorrow morning. As early as possible.â Andre stood up.
âBut tomorrowâs your birthday.â I reminded him.
He raised an eyebrow in confusion. âIt is?â
âOf course.â I laughed. âSee, youâve even forgotten.â
âWhy donât we just celebrate it tonight?â Michael brought a suggestion. âI mean, we can just buy a few things, get the cake, and boom! Itâs a happy birthday, sir.â
âI think Iâll be leaving now. I have some things to take care of.â Seth stood up and moved to the door.
Andre walked to Seth and patted his shoulder. âOkay, Seth, take care. Remember to come early tomorrow.â
âOkay sir.â Seth nodded with a narrow smile before leaving the house.
âGlad that guy is gone.â Michael leaned against the couch, slowly closing both of his eyes.
âSo, about that birthday suggestion, Michael?â I smiled at him, and he opened his eyes promptly.
âYeah, weâre going to discuss that, but first, can you please find me something to eat? Iâm starving.
âOkay, then Michael,â I brought out, leisurely getting to my feet. âAndre, eat as well?â
would you like to âYes please. My tummyâs been grumbling since morning,â Andre answered, taking off his shirt.
âSeriously? You havenât eaten since morning?â I quizzed him and surprised him a little.
Nope. Iâve been really busy. So let me know when the food is ready. Iâll be in my room upstairs.â Andre headed for the stairs.
âYou didnât care to ask about me,â Mason smirked. I wanted to throw him a dark look, but I decided to suppress my anger, I closed my eyes, shaking my head, trying to put myself together. âOkay, then, mister, would you like to have something?â
âNah, you can get your ugly ass to the kitchen,â he derided, inflaming me. And I just wanted to grab a knife right now and throw it at his head.
I ignored Mason and made my way to the kitchen. Michael had his eyes closed, and I didnât even know if he was sleeping, but that never really mattered to me anyway.
Just as I was about to get the stuff to prepare my dish, the doorbell rang, âAriel, someoneâs at the door!â Mason informed me in a blaring tone.
He was the one close to the door. Why didnât he go and check it out himself? That is good for nothing, scumbag, I glared at Mason, who was giving his phone all of his attention as I walked to the door. When I opened it, I was surprised to see who had shown up. It was Luke.
