Chapter 34
The Love From Vengeance
34 NEVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER LUKEâS POV Harriet couldnât believe what she was seeing at the moment. Anger and astonishment had filled her up.
But this was what she wanted, right? The downfall of our relationship. Her wish had already been fulfilled. And trust me, I wasnât going back on my words.
Ariel, too, seems kind of shocked by what was happening. I wasnât even interested in her; I was just doing this so Harriet could be filled with pain. Lots and lots of pain. And it seems like it was working.
âAriel, is your woman now?â Harriet asked, her voice broken. And it seemed like she was about to burst into tears. I wanted to feel sorry for her, but I quickly terminated that goodâfor -nothing feeling.
I wore a fake smile, replying to Harriet. âYes, and weâll be getting married tomorrow.â
âTomorrow?â Ariel blurted it out with a surprised face. Of course, she wasnât expecting that.
âLuke, you are really going to do this to me?â Harrietâs eyes were filled with tears. âJust breaking up with me and getting married to her immediately? Why, Luke, why?â
âYou were the one who brought this whole sorrow upon yourself, Harriet, by deciding to go and sleep with other men. Like, what made you do that? Was it because of money? I got that. Was it because of beauty? I got that. Or wait a minute, my manhood wasnât big for you, or what?â
âDid you really have to say that?â Ariel whispered.
âOh, shut up, will you?â I replied to her in the same manner. I set my eyes back on Harriet. âSo tell me, woman, what is the reason for your sleeping with other men?â
Harriet shook her head, âYou know what, Luke? Itâs useless talking to you. You never really loved me, because if you did, you wouldnât decide to get married immediately after our breakup.â
CHUNG BACK TOGETHER âYou want to know something, Harriet? I picked up a cigarette from my pocket, and Ariel was quick to give me a disapproving look. I never really cared about her opinion anyway. Itâs been a long time since I smoked. Like, what the hell was wrong with me?
1 lit the cigarette and blew a smoke, fixing my eyes on Harriet once again. âOur love was fading; did you notice that?â I asked, and she cleaned the tears from her eyes. âWell, itâs obvious you didnât, because you were sleeping with different men.
I blew more smoke and continued, âEverything became worse the moment I found out you were cheating on me. Then I got back together with you because I had pity. You wanted to kill yourself, and I didnât want to feel guilty for someoneâs death. But then you had to do shit again.â I threw the cigarette on the ground and stepped on it.
I directed my gaze at Harriet. âItâs over between us, Harriet. No apologies, no second chances, nothing at all. Just imagine that I never existed and that this chapter between us never took place.â
âSo thatâs it,â Harriet uttered lowly. âYouâre not going to change your decision.â
no, âOh I wonât. But donât think about suicide, because even if you try to kill yourself, Iâm still not getting back with you. We are never ever getting back together. Let those words sink into your brain.â
Harriet exhaled deeply; her eyes went straight to Ariel, and there was a glare right there. âAnd you, do you really want to marry this man again?â
âWhy are you asking her that?â I slightly squeezed Ariel, rubbing her shoulder. âIâve already told you weâre getting married, havenât I?â
âI was not talking to you, so donât interfere,â Harriet spat at me in a cold mode. âI asked you a question, Ariel. Do you want to get married to Luke?â
âWell, youâre seeing it,â Ariel answered, going with the flow. She also wanted to hit Harriet with tons of pain, and it wasnât like we had planned it.
âOkay, then,â Harriet uttered with a slow nod. âCongratulations.â
34 NEVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER âOh, thank you,â I said immediately, still giving her a fake smile. Harriet turned around and walked away.
Immediately, Ariel pushed me off her body. âWhat the hell were you doing, huh?â
âWhat was I doing?â I repeated her question.
âWho told you that you could touch me like that?â
I glared at her from up to down. âOh, come on now; donât tell me you didnât like it.â
âWell, I didnât like it; I donât want to even be close to you. If it wasnât for your grandfather and Haâ¦â she paused her lips immediately. I wondered why.
âMy grandfather, and who now?â I asked, with one of my eyebrows raised.
âItâs none of your concern. Now give me the clothes that are in there.â Ariel gestured towards my car.
âIâve told you already. There are no clothes in there. Do I have to sing it as a nursery rhyme for you so youâll understand?â
âOh, shut up, âshe answered bitterly.
âYouâve really become a nuisance, worse than how you were years ago.â
âThank you so much; I appreciate the comment.â sarcastic expression right there. âNow are you going to open this door or not?â
âThere is no way Iâm going to open this car for you. Go to hell!â
âLuke, you better open the door now or else. â
âOr else what?â I spoke right away. âYouâre going to break my car?â
34 NEVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER âI wasnât going to do that, but thatâs actually a nice suggestion.â She fixed her hands on my car.
âGet your filthy hands off my car,â I spat.
âFor crying out loud, Luke, my clothes are in there!â Ariel extended her hands over to my car.
âYour clothes?â I chuckled. âSince when did you start wearing a suit? And those Tâshirts are way too big for you.â
âItâs none of your business anyway. Just give me what belongs to me so I can get out of here.â
âIf you leave now, when are we going to discuss the preparations for our wedding?â I smirked, crossing my arms and leaning my shoulder against my car.
âYouâre the billionaire here. Go find a bunch of people; you all can discuss it. Buy the necessary materials and get me the wedding dress. And when you guys are done, inform me about it.â
âHow stupid of you?â
âLook, sir, I donât have all day. Please open the car so I can get the clothes out. I have other things to do.â
âThings like what?â
Sit Ariel sighed, shaking her head in frustration. âOkay, thatâs it.â She began to walk away from me.
âYouâre leaving the clothes with me?â
She simply ignored me and disappeared. Like, seriously, did she actually leave those clothes for me?
But then she answered my question the moment she showed up with a baseball stick. I gave 31 NEVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER her a weird look, watching her as she transposed closer to me.
âWhere did you get that from?â I couldnât help but be curious.
âDonât ask me that,â she said and lifted her hands, still having a hold of the baseball bat. She was about to wreck my car, but I quickly stopped her.
âWoah woah woah, what are you doing? You want to smash my car?â I took her hands lower.
âWell, you chose to be stubborn. Now let go.â She tried to drag the bat off my hands, but I held it tightly.
âLuke Reynold and Ariel Walker. Are the two of you back together?â
35 STAY LUKEâS POV Ariel and I saw some people standing not too far from us, each of them holding cameras, and they were taking pictures of the two of us.
Since Ariel was giving them all of her attention, I dragged the bat from her hands. No doubt we still had a problem around here, but at least my car wouldnât be getting demolished.
âAriel Reynold,â one of them said, moving closer. âCan you please explain to us what this is all about?â
Ariel raised an eyebrow with a displeasing look. âCan you please mind your own business?â
âThis is our business,â the dude said. Ariel just ignored him as she started walking away.
âArenât you going to take your clothes along with you?â I sounded off, reminding her that her properties were still with me, right in my car.
âYou can keep them!â she yelled back, not even glancing at me. She had now gotten a little bit far.
âAre you sure about that?â I shouted again. And you could just guess what she did: she flicked me off.
I chuckled. It was kind of disrespectful, but I have to say, I loved this version of Ariel.
The guy who was taking pictures turned to me. âSo, Mr. Reynold, care to tell us about the whole situation?â
âHave a nice day, man.â Iâpatted his shoulder and burst into my car.
