Chapter 51
The Love From Vengeance
51: SCORPIONâS RETURN ARIELâS POV âYou killed him?â I blurted out to Luke. And the pain in my belly increased. I held that part immediately, closing my eyes.
âOkay, take it easy.â Luke wanted to hold me, but I hit his hands, telling him not to touch me.
âYou need to chill, alright? I didnât kill Blake, or whatever his name is. I just handed him to the cops.â
âThen why did you say you sent him back to where he belongs?â
âI was only trying to see your reaction,â Luke said, getting to his feet. He started walking to the door. â
Iâll see you at the wedding tomorrow.â
âYouâre still doing that?â I asked.
Luke halted and turned around. âYeah.â He left the room after that.
I sighed, shaking my head, and then I lay on the bed. I have to say, today was actually a wonderful day.
What even happened to Foster, by the way?
LUKEâS POV As I burst inside my car, so many thoughts raced through my mind. There were a lot of things going on in this head of mine, and my grandpaâs face was still lingering in my memory.
And then there was Ariel. That lady almost lost her life today, and I didnât even know why in the 51: SCORPIONâS RETURN world I was worried. Of course, I hid all these from everyone. The feelings I had for this woman were definitely not hate, and they obviously werenât love either. I could see she really had me tangled.
My phone began to ring, breaking me from my thoughts, and I answered the call that very moment.
âSir, itâs Fiona. Please come home.â That was one of my maids talking on the phone.
âWhy? Whatâs the problem?â I asked in curiosity.
âItâs..,â
âItâs your aunt, you nitwit!â
âAunt Mariam?â I uttered slowly. Thatâs her voice. She was the one who snatched the phone from Fiona.
âYes, itâs me, Luke. And you better come home immediately!â This lady snapped, talking like she was the boss of me.
âWhy, if I may ask?â
âDonât ask me questions. Just come here!â She continued with her bossy tone.
âSorry, but Iâm busy right now.â I lied. There was no way she was going to start treating me like her slave.
âThat is none of my business! Leave whatever youâre doing right now and come.â
I hung up. Why did that woman have to come into my life again?
My aunt and I were never on good terms. She was an arrogant carking lady who thought so highly of 51. 51.
S RETURN herself. She was filled with pride and hated by all. She used to live with me, but after the death of my parents, she went to only God knows where. Now sheâs come back.
The dangerous scorpion, full of venom, has returned to wreak havoc in my life. This wicked creature brought nothing but trouble. I couldnât tolerate her presence for even a moment. Her actions and behavior caused immense distress and frustration.
Dealing with her was a constant struggle, and it seemed impossible to find peace. The venomous sting of her presence always poisoned the atmosphere, leaving me in a state of constant unease. Her return only amplifies the difficulties I face, and currently, Iâm left with a sense of despair and annoyance.
ARIELâS POV I was still lying down on the bed, my eyes closed, as I was thinking about what happened in the forest today. You know what kept revolving around in my head? Lukeâs reaction when that man shot me.
His face changed all of a sudden, and it was like he cared for me. The way he screamed my name said it all. His voice trembled with fear and concern, filled with raw emotion. I never wanted to actually believe it, because I wasnât going to take my mind further.
The door opened, and Mason stepped in. He had a bunch of flowers in his hands, and he also had some shades on, but he took them off immediately.
How the hell did he know I was here?
âAriel, itâs so nice to see you.â Mason smiled, moving closer. âWhen I heard you were at the hospital, I thought you were dead. Gosh, I was scared for a minute.â
âOkay, enough with the pretense,â I told him.
âPretence?â Mason chuckled. âDo you hate me that much that youâre going to start saying Iâm pulling off a drama when Iâm actually being concerned about you?â
51: SCORPIONâS RETURN âLook. Iâm not in the mood if youâre here to start this decision about Luke. As you can see, I got shot, and I almost died.â
âBut youâre still alive,â he said with a huge smile. âAnd you should be glad about that.â
âYeah, Iâm glad, and thanks for coming. You can leave now.â I threw him a mealy grin.
âOh, the conversationâs not going to end just like that.â His unctuous smile covered his face. âNow tell me about your wedding with Luke. Is it still going to take place tomorrow?â
âI told you already. Iâm not in the mood for this conversation. Canât you see how Iâm badly wounded? âI tried to let him see my situation around here.
âI can see that. But your woundâs not going to restrain you from talking. So letâs not waste any more time.â Mason still wouldnât listen. Bullshit.
âYouâre the one whoâs wasting your time. You can just leave now, and weâll talk about this another time.â
My annoyance grew.
âYou know how curious I can get.â He kept on pressuring me. Damn, it was really frustrating.
âAnd you know how annoying I can be. So please, sir, leave me alone.â I wasnât going to give up that easily. There is no time to talk nonsense around here.
âOh gosh, Ariel, stop being stubborn.â He sat on the edge of the bed. âJust give me an update on this mission of ours, and I wonât bother you anymore.â Unbelievable words came right out of his mouth.
I gave him a crazy look forthwith. âYouâre not going to bother me anymore?â This was unthinkable, Iâd say. Mason was a pain in the ass.
âJust for today.â He had to let me know.
ST: SCORPIONâS RETURN âYeah, just what I was expecting to hear,â I said underneath my breath.
âTell me already!â He snarled. Danger zone.
âI donât know, alright. But Luke still wants the wedding to take place tomorrow. I donât know if heâs being serious or not.â I was sick and tired of this man already.
âI see. That means I need to go get myself a perfect suit for tomorrowâs occasion.â Shocking words.
âHold on a minute. Youâre attending the wedding?â I raised an eyebrow.
âYeah, I canât miss such an important event. Take care, by the way. I hope that wound doesnât get worse than it is right now.â He was definitely being sarcastic.
âYou donât have to worry about that. It wonât.â I tried to play along.
âI hope so,â he smiled. âSee you tomorrow. Or will you be coming home tonight?â
âNah, Iâll spend the night here at the hospital.â Perfect decision. Tonight, he can have the house all to himself.
âOkay, but you got to be prepared. Tomorrowâs going to be a special day in your life.â
I chuckled in disbelief. âI donât really think so.â
Mason laughed and dropped the flowers close to me. He stood up and left the room after that. The flowers smelt nice, but since it was from Mason, I considered it to be horrible.
