Chapter 52
The Love From Vengeance
52: MOVING IN LUKEâS POV I arrived home, and the moment I stepped foot inside the house, I saw my aunt sitting down, slowly tapping the couch she perched on. She was obviously waiting for me.
âI thought I told you to come earlier. Where have you been?â My aunt asked me the moment she sighted me.
âWhatâs all this nonsense, huh?â I couldnât help but get irritated by her pesky question.
âNonsense? Is this how you talk to your elders? Donât you have some respect in that mouth of yours?â
Here she was again, speaking like she was a god or something.
âRespect? If you could hear yourself when you were talking to me on the phone, youâd know that you deserve none.â I struck her with these words, trying to let her know the kind of person she was.
âI can see youâre trying to act stubborn, just like your father.â And she had to mention him in this.
âDonât you dare drag my father into this.â My spleen got out, still unleashing heavily.
âWhat are you going to do, huh? I mean, your angerâs not going to change the fact that you are crazy, just like your father.â She kept on with her fudge.
âIâm warning you, okay? So you better watch your mouth.â I threatened her, and I swore I could rip her heart out if she didnât zip it.
âWhat did you just say? Do you know I can slap the living soul out of you?â Her words were quite 52: MOVING IN flabbergasting.
âYou can slap me all you want, but donât you dare insult my father. Thatâs something Iâm not going to be able to tolerate.â She needed to know what kind of pain she was bringing me.
âOkay, shut up. Stop trying to act all mighty around here, all because youâve grown up. In my eyes, youâre still a little kid.â Mariam spat.
âEnough with the nonsense. Can you please tell me what youâre doing at my house?â I asked, crossing my arms.
âOh, youâre trying to change the topic, now?â She raised an eyebrow.
âI wonât repeat this question anymore. What are you doing at my house?â My rage was worsening.
âWell, I heard that your precious grandfather is dead. Is that true?â She quizzed. Such a silly question.
âYes. Itâs Sir Reynold for crying out loud. Heâs a notable businessman in the country, so the news about his death is going to be all over the internet.â
âYou do know that some people go about with fake news.â
âNot this one, okay? Now, weâve already carried out the funeral. So I donât see the need for you to still be at my house. The door is that way.â It was time for this nonsense to come to an end.
âYouâre going to drive your aunt out of your house?â She queried, not believing my words. Was this something new?
âYes, since sheâs trying to act like the boss of me.â I retorted.
âIâm not going anywhere! Iâm staying right here, in this house with you.â Mariam made her decision.
52: MOVING IN But itâs the wrong one.
âIt seems like your husband kicked you out. Itâs not going to be surprising. After all, you have an irritating attitude.â I taunted.
âYou need to watch your mouth, you little rat!â She snapped, raising her finger at me.
âSorry, but it hits different when I say it.â I smirked. But I was still angry as hell.
âWell, youâre wrong with what you said, because my husband and I are still living together, perfectly fine, filled with love.â She could lie or not; it was none of my business.
âIâm not buying that.â I had to press on with the mocking mode.
âThen go to hell.â She spat.
âNah. This is my house; youâre the one who should go to hell. The devilâs going to gladly welcome you into his arms.â I came back.
âI see this little rat has gotten some nerve. Just so you know, Iâll be living in this house for the next couple of months.â Her words were fanciful.
âNo, youâre not.â I quickly disagreed.
âYes, I am. And any moment from now, my belongings will be coming right here,â she said, snapping her fingers.
Some people walked inside the house right away, having a hold of different luggage. I couldnât help but give them an angry look. Who told them they could just barge into my house like that?
âTheyâre already here.â Mariam clapped her hands. A joyful face right there.
52: MOVING IN I watched her as she moved closer to them. She helped the individuals out, directing them upstairs.
There were available rooms up there, but I was not willing to give her a space in this mansion. She was trying to act like the boss. But Iâd better let her know whoâs the boss around here.
ARIELâS POV Still at the hospital, I couldnât help but start thinking about my children. I was missing them so much, and I couldnât wait till all this vengeance stuff was over. Iâd finally go back to them, so I hope we get this done as soon as possible.
Speaking of them, my phone began to ring; it was a video call. Andreâs mother was the one who was calling. Of course, I knew my adorable babies wanted to talk to me.
I answered the call with a smiling face, and there was Janice, along with Andreâs mother, right on the screen. But I couldnât see Lukel anywhere. I wondered where he was, or perhaps he didnât want to talk to me.
âMommy!â Janice exclaimed. My smile only got wider.
âI miss you, mommy. When are you coming back?â Her beautiful voice was music to my ears.
âSoon, my baby, soon.â I hoped.
âOkay, I canât wait. I have a lot of things to tell you!â Janice was indeed joyful.
âYou do know you can tell mommy each and every one of them right now.â Smile all on my face.
âNo, I want to tell you when we meet.â She was firm on that.
âOkay then, sweetheart.â I beamed.
52: MOVING IN âAriel, what are you doing at a hospital?â Mariam asked.
âMommyâs in the hospital?â Janiceâs face changed.
âOh, itâs nothing. I just had a slight injury. Thatâs all.â I lied.
âYou canât actually be on that bed and say you have a slight injury. Tell me, Ariel, what really happened?â Elizabeth knew my words were false.
âI told you already; itâs just a slight injury. The lights got broken, and I was trying to fix it, but I fell down hard.â I kept on with my lie.
âSeriously?â
âYes, never lucky.â I shook my head.
âWhy didnât you call someone else to fix it? You know youâre bad at that.â Elizabeth had to tell me that.
âThere is a first time for everything, right?â I joked.
âYeah, I still donât believe this story of yours. But Iâm not going to stress myself out on that.â Elizabeth was unbelievable.
âWhereâs Lukel, by the way?â I asked.
âHe has a fever. So heâs getting some sleep.â
âAww, my poor baby.â
52: MOVING IN âThese children miss you a lot, Ariel. When are you coming back?â
âItâs just a matter of time. Take care.â I had to let them know, also wishing them the best.
âTake care, mommy! Love you.â Janiceâs beautiful voice was loud.
âI love you too!â I smiled, and the call ended.
My phone began to ring, and Luke was the one calling me. I answered after taking quite some time.
âGet your butts ready. Iâm coming to pick you up.â
