James had been watching from the large tree for some time.

The cultivators in black robes were not particularly powerful. Judging by their aura, they were only at

the Seventh or Eighth Inner Gate. If he faced someone of this caliber, he was more than capable of

killing them.

He stood in front of several guards, looking at the person dressed in a black robe and wearing a red

cultivator in the red mask spoke again.

He could not tell how strong James was, so he mentioned the regiment he was a part of in the hopes of

intimidating James. He was, however, mistaken. James was not from this world at all, but rather from

Earth outside of it. He had never heard of the so-called Dark Keep.

James smiled faintly and said, “I don’t give a damn about some ‘keep’ or whatever. Now that I’ve been

presented with this situation, this concerns me as well.”

“You have a death wish, brat.”

The man in the red robe suddenly raised his sword and lunged at James.

He was the leader, and he was far more powerful than the other black-robed men. He had reached the

Herculean rank. His movement was very fast. In the blink of an eye, he appeared in front of James.

“Be careful.” The princess behind him gave a warning.

However, in this crucial moment, James raised his hand, stretched out two fingers, and clamped his

opponent’s sword.

“That’s it?” He smiled faintly.

His fingers exerted some force.

Crack!

In an instant, the opponent’s sword was broken. James then thrust his palm out with great force.

A terrifying energy swept through the area, striking the man in the red mask. He was immediately

launched into the air and crashed to the ground.

“Wha-?”

The several hundred black-robed individuals around them were all shocked.

“Get lost,” James said coldly.

With their swords in hand, these people were at a loss as to whether to remain or leave.

Then, James’ aura grew dramatically. He appeared at a height of several dozen meters in the air and

held up his hand. Powerful energy formed in his palm.

The surrounding people in black robes were all terrified as they sensed the formidable aura and fled in

fear. Several people took their leader with them and soon vanished into the night. Only then did James

smile, descended from the sky, and stood firm on the ground.

The princess walked over, her face filled with gratitude, and said, “Thank you for saving my life, sir.”

James gave a small wave, took a glance at her, and asked, “Who are you? Why were you being

hunted?”

Laelia was a little hesitant. James noticed that she seemed apprehensive. He smiled and said, “I don’t

mean any harm.”

Exhaustion was evident on Laelia’s beautiful face. When she was about to speak, a look of pain

suddenly appeared on her tired face. She pressed her hand against her chest and spat out a mouthful

of dark blood.

She could not stop herself from collapsing to the ground.

“Princess!”

Around her, the remaining dozen guards began to panic. They rushed over to help her up.

Laelia waved them off faintly, dragged herself up from the ground with difficulty, and sat cross-legged

on the ground.

James was watching her as well.

He studied medicine. Just by looking at Laelia, he could tell she was poisoned. Moreover, it was a

particularly horrible type of poison. If the poison was not promptly removed, her life would be in danger.
