Chapter 65 Not Divorced Yet, Still a Legitimate Couple
Before Susan finished the call, Lysanderâs phone started vibrating again.
It was an unfamiliar number.
Lysander thought it might be a patient with an emergency, so she quickly said goodbye to Susan and answered the call.
But the voice on the other end shocked her. âMiss Thorne, hello. We are the Harborbrook Police
Station.â
When Lysander arrived at the police station, she was still limping.
A female police officer saw her condition and quickly ran over to support her. âWhatâs wrong? Are you okay?â
âIâm fine. Iâm here to bail Josiah Guerra out.â
âAre you hisâ¦?â
Lysander didnât know how to explain her relationship with Josiah now.
They had not completed the divorce procedures, so they were still legally protected as a married couple.
But in reality, they were no different from strangers.
As they were talking, Josiah walked out of a room with a male police officer by his side. Upon seeing Lysander limping, he asked the female police officer next to him, âIs she here to report a case?â
âSheâs here to bail Mr. Guerra out.â
The male police officer nodded and asked Josiah, âIs this your family? Your sister?â
âMy wife.â
Both the male and female officers were shocked and looked at each other. âIsnât the pregnant woman you asked me to send back your wife? This lady is your wife too?â
Lysander quickly interjected, âIâm his ex-wife. The pregnant woman is his current wife.â
âSo thatâs how it is.â The male officer chuckled. âBut there are regulations for bail. It must be a relative. Your ex-wife no longer has any legal relationship with you, so she canât help you with bail.â
âWe havenât divorced yet.â
The male officer said, âIf you havenât received the divorce certificate, you
are still legally married then.â
The female officer was even more shocked. âYou havenât divorced here, but sheâs already pregnant over

Lysander sighed and did not want to explain so much. âExcuse me, where do I sign?â
The female officer handed her a form. âRight here.â
Lysander leaned against the wall and made her way toward the table slowly. Josiah hurried over instinctively to help her, but she refused politely. âItâs okay, Mr. Guerra. Itâs just a minor injury. I can manage on my own.â
She insisted on walking to the table, took the pen handed to her by the female officer, and signed her name on the form.
The female officer guided her through the procedures. âWrite your name here, your ID number here, and your relationship with him here.â
Lysander skillfully filled in her name and ID number. She hesitated at the relationship column, but finally gritted her teeth and wrote âspouse.â
âDoneâ
âAll right. Come with me-to the office to get a receipt then.â
âOkay.â
Josiah quickly said. âOfficer, let me go get it. Sheâs injured and canât walk properly.â
The male officer stopped him. âThe procedures arenât done yet, so you canât move freely for the time being. How about this? You both wait here and Iâll go get it for you.â
Josiah looked at Lysander and she did not insist anymore. She just smiled and nodded to the male police officer. âThank you.â
The two officers went to the back office.
In the corner of the hall, there was a row of waiting area seats.
Lysander leaned against the wall and slowly walked over there.
Josiah wanted to support her, but her refusal was obvious. He didnât dare to reach out rashly, so he just stood by her side and followed her closely. He was ready to catch her in case she fell.
However, Lysander didnât give him the chance. Although she walked slowly, she was very steady.
It was a short distance, but it took her two or three minutes to finally reach the seat at the outermost position.
Josiah sighed and walked to the other side. He chose a seat one space away from her and sat down.
âYour legâ¦
âI understand what youâre about to say. Itâs fine. Itâs just a minor injury. Thereâs no need for you
you to apologize. Ever since we decided to get divorced, I have to endure your apologies almost every time we
