Chapter 33
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
Alex was totally lost in the fun of playing in the amusement park!
Clara was lugging around a bag full of toys and snacks she bought for Alex.
It was a rare day to spend with her kid she wanted to give Alex as much company and care as possible While on the carousel, Alex said, âMommy, I want to take a picture!â
Clara immediately pulled out her phone-
But just as sheâs about to snap a photo, a call from Emmett popped up on her screen!
Why on earth is he calling her at this time?
Clara answered right away, âMr. Melendez, whatâs up?â
âWhere are you?â
âIm with my kide âWhere exactly?â
Clara almost spilled that they are at Melendez Amusement Park, but stopped herself at the last second.
âIâm at a park in the suburbs â
âCome to Melendez Amusement Park Emmettâs voice was stern.
But Clara wasnât about to take that risk, âMy son loves it here, sorry, Mr. Melendez Todayâs my day off.â
âClara, donât forget youâre my secretary!â
âApologies, Mr. Melendezâ Clara said, glancing at her sonâs joyful expression. I really need to be with my kid today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!â
With that, Clara ended the call, feeling anxious about Emmettâs potential response. As she hung up, she couldnât shake off the worry on her face.
Observing the troubled expression, Alex, her son, inquired, âWhatâs wrong. Mommy? You donât look well!â
Clara reassured him, âIt s nothing, sweetheart. Maybe Mommy just got a little too excited about finally getting to play with you!â
âMommy, can we do this every day then?â Alex asked excitedly.
Clara smiled affectionately, âNo, my love. Mommy still needs to work! Otherwise, we wouldnât have a place to live!â
Alexâs enthusiasm caused him to completely forget about his previous plans with Aiden.
Meanwhile, Aiden felt awkward about his first outing with his father being to an amusement park.
As soon as they get out of the car, Emmett murmured, âGo play whatever you want.â
Aiden looked around, âI want a lemonade.â
Emmett frowned, âJust a lemonade?â
âFor now⦠I just want a lemonade.â
âAre you messing with me?â Emmett glared at his son, âCanât you have lemonade at home? Did you have to come here for it? We came to the amusement park to play!â
Not wanting to see him angry, Arden plucked up the courage to say, âThen letâs go on the carouselâ
âAlright, you go ahead Emmett waved his hand dismissively, showing no intention of joining him, To Emmett, bringing a kid to an amusement park meant letting the kid play by himself.
The security here was topânotch, so heâs not worned about Aiden getting lost.
Aiden didnât insist. He nodded and headed towards the carousel.
Maybe Alex and his mom were already here, just forgot to bring their phones.
He looked around, hoping to spot a familiar figureâ¦.
Thatâs the only comforting thought he can cling to at the moment.
Lost in thought, heâs suddenly heard a park worker saying. âYou sure change fast!â
Aiden was stunned, then quickly reacted, âHave you seen me before?â
âYeah! Didnât you just leave?
âDid I just ride the carousel?â
The worker nodded, seeming confused by his questions, âYeah⦠Have you forgotten already?â
