Chapter 1045

Spoiled by the President

Gideon humbly said, “No worries, we’re family after all. If you’re happy so is Nelly, and if Nelly is happy, so am I.”

He quietly scattered some kibble on the ground.

Cathy smiled at his words.

That night, Sean was tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep.

It's been over thirty years since he escaped from home at age ten to live in the desert. It was his home now. To just up and leave was challenging but Gideon's offer was so tempting. Not to mention there was Cathy...

Sigh, he just could not let Cathy go to China all by herself.

Especially since she stayed with him for all those years.

Her body was not fully healed yet, and although she was much better at talking to people now, her emotions were still unstable.

There was still an instinctive anxiety reflex when there were too many people around.

At the time, Cathy trusted no one but him. Sean thought about it but was still worried.

The next morning, Sean walked out of his room with panda eyes and shot a look at Gideon once he saw him. “I’ll go to China with you.”

At the time, Gideon was carrying Little Viemond, teaching him how to use a computer on the sofa. He looked at Sean and smiled.

“You’re sure? No regrets?”

Sean was already in a bad mood but seeing Gideon tease him made him feel worse.

He glared at Gideon. “I said yes okay?! I’m not regretting what I said!”

With that, he left without even eating breakfast, huffing, and puffing.

Cathy saw Sean grabbing his car keys and leaving in a huff when she was walking out of the kitchen. She asked, “Ah, where are you going? It’s time for breakfast!”

Sean snapped without looking back. “I’m going to the lab.”

Cathy frowned and stomped her foot. “I can't believe him! It’s breakfast time and he’s going to the lab?”

Nell smiled and grabbed Cathy’s shoulders. “Mom, he’s going to the lab to get ready to move his things, don't worry.”

Cathy knew he would say yes, but hearing him say it still made her smile.

She was separated from Nell for a decade. Naturally, she wanted to be with her after reuniting, but she also did not want to leave Sean. He was not just kind to her but gave her a decade’s worth of love and affection.

Still, to have the best of both worlds was unrealistic and she knew that.

For Sean to leave the place he knows as his whole world and give up everything he built from the ground up was something... it was cruel.

Somehow, he still said yes.

This was his choice now. To compromise so much to fulfill her wishes.

Cathy would be lying if she said she was not touched. She was just abashed to show it in front of Nell and everyone else.

She wiped the tears away from her eyes and forcefully smiled. “I know. Then we won’t wait for him. Do you want to go out and buy something later?

I’ll go with you.”

Nell nodded and they went to the dining room for breakfast.

Since they had an afternoon flight, they were still free to head out in the morning. After breakfast, Nell had Gideon stay home with the kids and went out with Cathy to shop.

She figured that she would get small souvenirs for family and employees alike.

The gifts were going to be sent home via courier so they did not need to carry them. It was easier that way.

This was the festive season but Gideon was still a man despite being attentive and detailed.

Most of the employees in her company were women and she was worried Gideon would not get what they liked, so Nell had to personally step in.

If she went out with the kids it would just be a hassle and draw attention to them.

It was a small matter and she was just going to go with Cathy. Gideon just needed to stay at home and watch the kids.

Picking gifts would only take at most an hour with the driver taking them out, everything would be fine.

Not to mention that people still knew Cathy as Sean’s wife despite her not going out. She had been living here for a decade after all.

It was hard for things to go wrong with how well known Sean was in the area.

Gideon gave in after hearing that and let them do their thing.

Nell and Cathy sat in the car, headed towards the biggest mall in the area. It was full of shops that sold many local trinkets and specialties.

She found a nice souvenir shop and picked out a few of each item. Nell had them packed and gave their mailing address before leaving.

When they walked out, Cathy suddenly pointed out. "Oh I remember there's an authentic snack shop on that street, why don't we buy some back for everyone's afternoon tea?"

Nell could feel that she was at least slightly attached to the area. It may be out of habit but she had lived here for a whole decade.

Now that she was leaving, buying a local delicacy one last time was like a farewell of sorts.

Nell agreed.

It was the perfect time for shopping since it was not snowing, the skies were clear, the sun was out but it was not overly warm.

It was a comfortable winter day, and it was crowded.

The driver did not object and sat in the car, waiting for them.
