Chapter 1044
Spoiled by the President
Cathy laughed delightedly when she heard Nellâs response.
She observed Nellâs bump and eagerly wondered how it would be like once the babies were born.
She did not have children of her own. The only child whom she gave birth to died unexpectedly.
As a result, she regretted not having a biological child, despite Nellâs presence later.
At least, she had moved on, for such matters belonged to the past.
After making a decision, they packed up their belongings and looked for Sean.
Before finding Sean, Nell went to Gideon and told him about this suggestion.
Gideon listened and agreed with the idea of Cathy following them home.
As for Sean, he had to agree if Cathy wanted to go.
Hence, they looked for Sean.
When Sean learned that Cathy would be going back with Nell, his expression sank slightly.
Nell persuaded him, âMom lives here on her own and youâre unable to accompany her all the time. With her current condition, itâs not suitable for her to go out and make friends either. You canât let her stay at home every single day, as if sheâs a decorative item. It isnât good for her wellbeing. I know you love Mom, Uncle Sean, so Iâm sure youâll accommodate her and find a better living environment for her, am I right?â
Indeed, Nellâs remarks struck a chord with Sean.
He genuinely loved Cathy. He fell in love with her at first sight.
Unfortunately, back then, she was already married. Knowing that she was somebodyâs wife, Sean felt dejected.
Later, Cathy was set up by Sylvia Walker and Shaun Jennings and she got into an accident. It was a twist of fate that Sean rescued her and brought her overseas, where they became a happy and loving pair.
Although Cathy remained by his side all this while, fulfilling his wish, he understood that deep down, something was missing in Cathyâs life.
She should not be living in recluse with him, like a snail that hid in its shell, oblivious to the outside world.
Cathy was made for a life around people, where she needed love and adoration, an abundance of grandchildren, and a normal life.
She was not supposed to stay here and behave like a statue waiting for her husbandâs return, then carry on with her boring life.
As he thought of this, Seanâs expression softened.
He regarded Nell and said, âAre you certain that youâll take good care of her after she goes home with you?â
âOf course,â Nell replied without a second thought, then made a vow, âI promise that Iâll take proper care of Mom. After all, I love her even more than you do. None of us will ever hurt her.â
Sean nodded.
Nell continued, âActually if youâre willing to do so, Uncle Miller, you can come with us. In terms of resources and environment, our home country is much more suited for your research. As such, you donât have to be separated from Mom and you can also do what you love. Itâs a win-win situation.â
Sean returned a disappointed smile and shook his head.
âItâs ok, Iâm not going. There are still a lot of unfinished projects in my lab. What will happen to them if Iâm gone? Besides...â
He glanced at Cathy and spoke, âAt any rate, Iâve deprived her of her needs all these years. Iâve always assumed that I have to make her stay because I love her, but I never realized that she feels so lonely. Iâve failed as a husband.â
Cathy could not stand to see him like this, so she said, âSean, donât say that. Had it not been you, I would have been dead. Iâve never blamed you...â
Sean waved an arm, gesturing for her to stop speaking.
He turned around and muttered, âAlright, since you have made up your minds, letâs go then. Iâll be sure to visit you all when Iâm free.â
Sean tried his best to be as strong and as selfless as possible. Nonetheless, the people around him could tell that he did not want Cathy to leave.
He was just being selfless so that Cathy did not feel bad.
Nell frowned.
At the same time, Gideon spoke up.
Sean had another concern.
âBringing the projects back to China? Easier said than done. Do you know how much each project costs...â
Admittedly, Gideonâs offer sounded tempting.
Although Sean had a laboratory and a chateau here, they were passed down to him by his master.
As a result, his laboratory constantly lacked funding.
The cost of medical research was very high.
If he returned to China and Gideon was sincere about funding his research, it would lead to a positive outcome.
As he considered this offer, he looked at Gideon with a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
âAre you serious? Will you provide me with funds every year to continue my research?â
âAbsolutely.â
Gideon smiled. âItâs medical research weâre talking about. The findings will be beneficial to the nation and the people, so I should support it.â
Sean nodded.

ï¤Chapter 487 The End Pt. 5 âAlright, please allow me to consider your offer tonight. Iâll let you know of my answer tomorrow.â
âSure, but you only have one night. Once youâve made up your mind and agree to it, Iâll give orders to build the laboratory for you immediately. You wonât be able to back out of it by then.â
âUnderstood.â
After Sean replied, he waved his arms impatiently to make the rest of the people leave.
Nell had a hunch that he would most likely say yes.
She held Cathyâs arm and remarked elatedly, âMom, you donât have to feel troubled anymore. If Uncle Sean does come with us, weâll be reunited as a family.â
Cathy nodded in agreement. She was also pleased with the outcome.
She turned to Gideon and grinned. âItâs all thanks to Gideon.â
