Chapter 266

Spoiled by the President

Although this particular restaurant was considered a luxurious place in Jincheng, it was still not good enough.

Judging by Joseph Garrett’s appearance, he did not seem like the type of person to dine at such a place. There could only be two reasons for his presence here. Either he was pressed for time, or there was some special reason which attracted him to this place.

Nell was curious, but she did not know Joseph that well, so she did not ask him.

Both of them stepped inside the restaurant. It was filled with the chatter of customers and the clinking of tableware and cutlery.

She was not sure whether she was imagining things, but she had the feeling that Joseph often cast a strange look on her.

A mere acquaintance did not commonly display this type of hospitality.

Nell’s suspicions began to grow. She asked him, “So, Mr. Garrett, what brings you to Jiangcheng?”

Joseph responded, “I’m looking for someone.”

“Oh? May I ask who you are looking for?”

Joseph paused and smiled. “An old friend’s child.”

He stopped elaborating when he said that. Nell noticed his reluctance in explaining further and kept her questions to herself.

So, she simply gave him a smile.

The food was served. As a local of Jincheng, Nell introduced the dishes, “This sweet and sour pork is pretty famous here. I wonder how it tastes like in the capital. Do try it, Mr. Garrett.”

Joseph regarded the plate of sweet and sour pork and froze. He became somewhat disoriented.

Nell saw his reaction and asked him carefully, “Are you alright, Mr. Garrett?”

Joseph came to his senses and forced out a smile. “I’m fine.”

Annie’s favorite dish was also sweet and sour pork.

If only she were here...

Sigh!

Nell also questioned whether she was seeing things, but she often found Mr. Garrett to be depressed.

Then, she remembered that he was here to find someone. He might not have found that person, or his sadness was due to some other reason.

Still, it was their second time meeting each other and a chance encounter, so it would be inappropriate of her to ask him. Thus, she remained silent.

After they had finished eating, it was about time and Joseph had to board the plane at the airport. He did not drive, so he hitched a ride with Nell.

On the way, they chit-chatted. Nell was tactful and did not ask about his identity.

Anyway, his identity had nothing to do with her. She just happened to make a new friend.

At the airport, Nell sent a message to Gideon, informing him about her arrival.

Joseph’s flight was at 1:50 pm and there was half an hour left.

Nell had no idea whether what he said was true, that he did not want a young lady like her to wait for someone on her own, or whether he just wanted to continue talking to her, but Joseph kept accompanying her and refused to board the plane.

Seeing that he was keeping her company, Nell did not wish to reject him either.

Some time passed before Gideon showed up.

The man donned a black suit and he had a dark grey coat around his shoulders. As always, he was dashing, dominant and charming!

A wide grin formed on Nell’s face as she ran towards him.

“Nelly!”

Gideon never stopped smiling the moment he laid eyes on her. He took her into his arms and gave her a tight embrace.

“Miss me?”

Nell’s heart beat rapidly.

Her face was buried into his chest and she could feel the vigorous beating of his heart as well.

All of a sudden, she was hit with a wave of emotions and tears began to form in her eyes.

She no longer cared about everyone else and locked her arms around his waist and nodded.

The man was bursting with happiness and contentment. He cupped her face and gave her a passionate kiss.

The kiss seemed to put Nell in a trance. Still, she closed her eyes and allowed herself to surrender to his aura.

Coldness, pensiveness, dominance...

He wanted to possess her.

Joseph, who was standing nearby, felt out of place.

At first, he was surprised when he saw Gideon and wanted to greet him too.

However...

The kiss did not last for long.

After all, they were at the airport. Although they met at the VIP lane, there were still quite a handful of people and Gideon had to be considerate about his wife’s bashfulness.

Indeed, when he pulled back from the embrace, he noticed how red her cheeks had gotten. They resembled two red apples and it made her even more attractive.

Nell never imagined that she would fall under this man’s spell and kiss him in public.

Whatever reservations and shyness that she had were thrown out of the window in that instant.

It was then that she discovered that some feelings might have developed deep within her heart. However, she refused to face them and kept avoiding them, so she ignored their existence.

Yet, how could she possibly ignore what already existed?

Those feelings were like a planted seed. With just a fair share of nutrients, it could break out of the soil and grow into a towering tree.

Hence, time and distance were the best nutrients.

It was not until she felt the penetrating stares from passers-by on her back that Nell lifted her head.

Next, she noticed a lot of people looking in their direction. Her face was buried into Gideon’s chest, so others could not see how she looked.

Still, one could tell from her figure and charisma that she was a beauty.

Handsome men and pretty women often attracted attention, let alone such a brazen gesture.

Nell blushed furiously and quickly used her hair to shield her face, less she got recognized in public.

Heaven knew that she was now a somewhat famous actress.

There were already enough negative reports about her. She had better not get photographed or she would end up in tomorrow’s headlines.

Gideon saw her covering her face and laughed.

“Are you shy?”

Nell shook her head and tugged at his sleeve. “Let’s go!”

“Ok.” He paused but did not move. Instead, he lifted a hand to block her face.

Her face was small and was fully covered by his large palm.

Nell felt dumbfounded. When she raised her head, she noticed that his eyes were gleaming with tender affection and amusement. He addressed her in a husky voice, “I missed you too. A lot.”

A laugh escaped Nell.

Oh, this man...

She merely said that she missed him. Did he have to repeat her answer?

Why so serious?

Nevertheless, she felt a sweet, tingling sense of pleasure and it moved her.

She nodded. “Mm, I know.”

She held his hand and said, “Come here. Let me introduce you to someone.”

An obedient Gideon allowed his wife to lead him to Joseph Garrett.

“Mr. Garrett, the person I’m waiting for is here. Gideon, this is Old Madam Jones’ friend, Mr. Garrett.”

Joseph chuckled and spoke, “Deon, what a surprise! I’ve always wondered why you like to stay in Jincheng these days. Apparently, you’ve been hiding a beautiful lady at home.”

Gideon returned a smile. “Haha, I didn’t expect you and Nelly would know each other, Second Uncle. Looks like no introduction is needed.”
