Chapter 281
Spoiled by the President
Liam frowned. âIâm here for my son. What does it have to do with the Jackman and Griffin family?â
As Janetâs chest tightened, she smirked with a glint in her eyes. âEveryone knows youâre the apple of their eyes. Hasnât the old lady of the Griffin family been treating you like a darling since theyâve welcomed you back? Theyâd probably jump down the building if anything were to happen to you.â
Liamâs face tensed. âOh really? If you know, then why are you hiding from me?â
âLiam Jackman, you may be their dearest but youâre not to me. I warn you, donât force me, or else...â
âOr else what?â
âI...â
Janet went ballistic. Just how annoying was this person?
He knew that she was in a fix and had lost everything. Why did he have to push her to the edge?
Liam scoffed.
âHow do you plan on stopping me if I insist on having this child? With your horrible kung fu? Or are you going to tell your father so heâd beat me up just like he did four years ago?â
Janetâs mind went blank.
As though she was fished out of ice, a shivering chill overtook her.
She darted a cold stare at him. âYou can try me.â
Liam paused before adding, âI guess your dad wouldnât do that to me. After all, four years ago, I was a poor nobody who didnât deserve his goody-
two-shoes daughter.
âThings are different now; Iâm the heir of the Griffin family. If he were to find out that his daughter is carrying a child of mine, wouldnât he be so ecstatic that heâd present you to me with honor?â
âLiam Jackman, donât cross the line!â
âIâm only setting forth the truth, no?â
The duo stood there in total silence as the air reached a stalemate.
Janet glared at him with eyes that reeked of resentment.
Meanwhile, Liam scoffed and let go of her.
He turned to light a cigarette. After taking a puff, he sat on the sofa to take a good look at the woman before him.
With folded arms, she stared warily at him. Unlike the gentleness before, she was like a prickly hedgehog, ready to strike and take a stab at anyone who came close.
He was hit with sudden irritation.
Liam was over the moon the moment he found that the child she was carrying was his.
It was never in his mind to separate the mother and child.
However, it ate him up inside when she looked as if she wanted to stay away.
What did she take him for? A great scourge?
She used to please him rather tenderly, yet now she intended to run away with his child, hide, and avoid contact with him for the rest of her life?
What was this? Revenge?
Liamâs face turned sullen at that thought.
Janet composed herself for a moment and finally collected her thoughts.
With a straightened back, she looked at him calmly and answered in a hoarse voice, âI have already apologized for four years ago. As for that night, I admit, it was my fault, but it wasnât my intention. So, can you just set me free?
âWeâre not suited for each other. Wasnât this what you said before? Then why wonât you let me go?
âI just want to live a simple and quiet life. You can pretend not to know about the childâs existence since it wonât affect you in any way.
âIf youâre really concerned about this, I can leave to a faraway place so you wonât have to see the child for the rest of your life. You wonât even have to worry if the child would be a threat to you. Wouldnât that be nice?â
The manâs gaze turned cold in an instant.
He fixated a frigid gaze on the woman in front of him. His gaze was so icy, it could freeze a living being.
âWonât be a threat? Ha! Do you think Iâll believe that?â
Janetâs heart stopped.
He then continued, âYou donât have to take great pains to keep my child and use it to threaten me. I know what you Hancocks are up to. After all, weâve been together before. Even if you want to, itâs not as if I wonât fulfill your wish.â
Janetâs face was flushed red from anger.
âWhat are you rambling on about? Whoâs threatening you?â
âYouâre doing all you can to keep this child. Isnât it to hold something against me?â
He suddenly stood up and closed in on her before blurting coldly, âWell, you should know that the b*stards in the Griffin family canât stand my existence but canât do anything about it anyway. I heard that youâre pretty close to one of them? When did it start? Before I slept with you or after?â
Infuriated, Janet raised her arm to slap him but was stopped.
Giving him a death stare, her eyes were enshrouded with a thin layer of dewiness.
âLiam Jackman, you can humiliate me but donât you dare bring up my dad! You have no right to say that about him!â
âI have no right? Ha!â
As the glint in his eyes turned colder, he clamped her wrist, threatening to crush her bones.
âDidnât he go to great lengths to force me to leave simply because of my lowly status that wasnât worthy of his Hancock family? Now that I am the heir of the Griffin family, what right donât I have to speak of him?â
Staring at him, Janetâs heart sank to a bottomless pit where it was as cold as it could be.
âAlright, even if he was in the wrong about this, itâs been four years. Canât you just let it go?â
âI canât!â
At that note, Liam seemed to realize that a certain subtle emotion that had been buried deep within had slipped out.
Keeping his emotions in check, he hurled her arm away and turned his back towards her.
âDonât read into it. I canât let it go because I canât let anyone, who has insulted me, off. It has nothing to do with you.â
Janet let out a bleak smile.
âYou donât have to say it twice. I know.â
Sure, she had nothing to do with it.
He despised her. It had been decided the day she stood by her father and broke up with him.
By the looks of it, time went around in a circle and she was back at where she was. She might still be who she used to be but he was not.
Suddenly, Janet was overwhelmed by fatigue.
She said in a gruff voice, âItâs getting late, I should be resting now. Please leave if thereâs nothing else. Donât make me call the cops.â
Liam coldly scoffed. âCall the cops? Do you think Iâll be afraid?â
His gaze lingered towards her tummy.
Frustrated, Janet gritted her teeth.
This rascal.
She answered helplessly, âWhat do you want? What do I have to do for you to leave?â
Liam gave it a thought. Without a rush, he took a stroll to the sofa and sat down.
âIâm definitely taking the child with me as Iâve never thought about letting my child astray. Hence Iâll be keeping watch and staying close to you for the time being. Donât bother running away. You can go anywhere you please after the child is born.
âOh, right. As a thank-you, Iâll give you a sum of money to meet your future needs in life. Donât worry, I donât shortchange women when it comes to money.â
Out of rage, Janetâs complexion turned pale.

She yelled as she tried to shove him out.
Janet knew that Liam was trying to get into her head.
After all, everybody knew that the Eldest Young Lady Hancock was lacking in anything but money.
