Chapter 284
Spoiled by the President
Kylie?
How could it be her?
It had been three months since the Celine incident.
Nell was in Tranquil Dwelling when she received an anonymous mail. The email was attached with a voice recording of which she broadcasted to the media and police.
As it was sent by an anonymous, Nell had no idea who the sender was. Nevertheless, since it was available, she thought she might as well put it to good use.
Consequently, it led to the downfall of the Jennings family.
After all that, Nell arranged for someone to investigate the source of the voice recording and through many tracings, they found a digital footprint left behind by Kylie.
She was in shock back then and had thought about searching for Kylie to compensate her.
However, try as she may, Nell was unable to uncover Kylieâs hideout.
Because Kylie stood up for Nell online through a video, testifying that Celine had hired her to drug Nell and set her up, she fell victim to cyberbullying for a very long time.
Although many voiced support and believed in her, more doubt was cast by the outside world.
Hence, when she could not locate Kylie, Nell thought that Kylie had wanted a change of environment and did not pursue the search.
To her surprise, Nell saw Kylieâs resume here today.
She contemplated before sending Hannah a message.
Nell then dialed the number on the resume and put a call through.
In a few rings, the call was connected.
A girlâs clear voice was heard on the other end.
âHello, how are you? Who am I speaking with?â
âKylie, itâs me,â Nell muttered.
There was silence on the other end of the line.
Kylieâs surprised tone quickly ensued.
âNell... Nell Jennings?â
Nell smiled. âYes, judging by your tone, you seem surprised?â
At a loss, Kylie explained, âN-no. I didnât think that youâd call me. How did you know my number?â
Ever since the incident, she had changed her number as she could not take the harassment from netizens and the media anymore.
Thus, only a handful of people knew of her current number.
Nell raised a brow at her question.
She was slightly taken aback.
âI saw the resume you submitted to Xinghui and called the number on it. Wasnât the resume submitted by you?â
âNo.â
Kylie sharply retorted and paused before adding, âIâm sorry. I didnât know that she would submit it to your office for me. Iâm really sorry to bother you.â
She was in a hurry to hang up.
Sensing something amiss, Nell immediately stopped her. âWait.â
She frowned. âWhy does it feel like youâre afraid of me? I donât recall ever offending you if you donât consider that time when Nancy took you to the hotel.â
Kylie giggled awkwardly.
âSister Nell, youâre so funny. You didnât offend me but I have done you a disservice. Iâm looking for a job and I asked a friend to help me send out my resume. I guess she didnât realize... I know you must hate me after all that Iâve done to you... Iâm really sorry.â
Nell grinned.
âThereâs no need to apologize to me. I wouldnât have won so easily if you didnât retain those recordings.â
On that note, Kylie kept quiet.
âMy conscience was eating me up inside. If it wasnât because of my momâs illness, I wouldnât have joined Celineâs crew. Every time I saw her do those things, I always had the feeling that karma would come back to her.
âI couldnât stop her and many of the times, I became an accomplice even when I really didnât mean it. I quietly recorded it because I was afraid she might find me repugnant and come at me for knowing too much. It was only a method to protect myself.
âI found out about your mother afterward and thought this thing might be helpful to you so I gave it to you.â
Nell smiled. âYou thought right. It did indeed help me. I was wondering if youâll still be willing to help me?â
Kylie was dumbstruck, unable to make out the meaning behind Nellâs words.
Nell went straight to the point. âI need an assistant. Are you willing to join me?â
Kylie was pleasantly surprised.
âMe? Ca-can I?â
âOf course.â
Nell was a pretty good judge of character.
Apart from the misjudgment of Jason, she had never dropped the ball all these years.
During the time Kylie was with Celine, she had also felt that the girl was not as indifferent and ruthless as she was on the surface.
She must have a reason behind aiding and abetting a person like Celine.
As it turned out, Nell was right.
Kylie was so happy she could not believe her ears. Moments later, she held back her joy and asked restlessly, âBut I used to...â
âThe past is in the past. All is good as long as you promise me that youâll never do it again.â
Kylie gave her word without hesitation. âI can guarantee you that Iâll never do anything of that sort again.â
Nell nodded with a smile and took a glance at the time on her wristwatch.
âAlright, itâs getting late. I wonât take up your time then. You should know how to get in touch with Hannah. Please communicate with her when you have time in the next few days. Sheâll arrange everything for you.â
Ecstatic, Kylie complied and expressed her gratitude.
With that, Nell terminated the call.
Aware that Nell had got off work, Nancy drove the car over. As filming took place around the capital, Nell would return and stay in Fengqiao Villa on any day the shoot ended early.
Nancy was her bodyguard cum driver.
Approaching from afar, Nancy asked out of curiosity when she saw Nell standing there laughing to herself. âNelly, did something nice happen? Look at you, all happy.â
Nell relaid the matter about Kylie to her.
For a moment, Nancy was at a loss of words.
She shook her head. âYou might say you trust your instincts, but I have little confidence in her. She... wonât get in contact with Celine again, right?â
Although the name of the Jennings family had declined, Celine was still not behind bars.
As Nell was occupied in other matters, she could not keep an eye on Celine. By the time she had sent men to look into it, her whereabouts were no longer accessible.
Celine was a downfallen sitting duck anyway. With time better spent elsewhere, Nell did not spare another thought on her.
Nancyâs question got Nell thinking. She shook her head.
âThe girl, Kylie, might have misgivings but she has a good heart. I can tell by the way she values her mother. A devoted daughter can be a little selfish but it canât be that bad. Even if itâs for the sake of the recording she left behind, letâs just help where we can!â
Nancy frowned.

ï¤Chapter 487 The End Pt. 5 Nell continued, âEveryone knows she betrayed her employer since the incident. Although she did no wrong herself nor abuse other assistants, no one would dare hire her.
âFor her to submit her resume to me, she may say it was her friend who did it, but it doesnât dismiss the fact that she could be trying her luck and sounding me out after hitting roadblocks.
âAfter all, who would hire her except me in this entire entertainment business?â
