Chapter 340
Spoiled by the President
Nell brought the bowl of soup, which was prepared by Aunt Joyce, to Gideon. As Nell had not been feeling well and often felt cold, and Gideon had been busy, Aunty Joyce made some soup for them to nourish their bodies.
Nell already had some, so she sat beside Gideon to accompany him. She watched as he drank the soup and said, âI bet the Garretts are in a mess now, with Old Master Garrettâs condition.â
Gideon let out a cold laugh.
âNot just messy but chaotic as hell.â
Nell grinned.
âThe Garrett family has a lot of children. Uncle Garrett and Second Uncle Garrett have different mothers, plus they have their own factions and supporters. Naturally, the conflict between the two brothers will go on, but luckily Old Master Garrett is fine. Iâm sure theyâll make the necessary arrangements for the Old Masterâs funeral for the sake of the family, so that the fights and arguments wonât be too bad.â
Gideon nodded. âI hope so.â
He paused as if he had remembered something and glanced at Nell.
Nell raised her eyebrows.
âWhat is it?â
âNothing.â
Gideon found it funny and chuckled before continuing. âThe Grahams sent someone over too. Do you know who they sent?â
âWho?â
âYoungest Graham.â
Nell was astonished.
âI donât think Youngest Graham dislikes Celine. They seem to get along rather well. If nothing extraordinary happens, this marriage is confirmed.â
Nell was at a loss for words.
âYoungest Graham... Does he know about Celineâs past?â
Gideon nodded. âYes, but to him, who doesnât have a past? Hence, he doesnât mind. Heâs just looking forward to his future with Celine. I think he has found his true love.â
Nell was amused by the phrase âtrue loveâ and did not know how to react.
âAs a Young Master of the Graham family, itâs fine if he weds a formerly-married woman, but the thing is, this woman has a poor reputation. Do the Grahams approve of it?â
Gideon chuckled sardonically.
âHeâs not the only son in the Graham family. Moreover, Old Master Garrett offered a 15% share of the Garrettâs Corporation as a dowry. Any man in the capital would be enticed by this offer, let alone the Grahams.â
Nell glanced at him.
âOh? Are you enticed as well?â
Gideon paused.
He looked at her solemnly.
Then, he smiled cheerily and held her hand. âIâm only enticed by you.â
Nell was speechless.
She knew that this man was playing around!
She rolled her eyes, withdrew her hand and said, âFine, letâs be serious. Based on what you said, is the marriage between the Garretts and the Grahams confirmed? Didnât anyone from the Garrett family oppose Old Master Garrettâs idea of a 15% share dowry?â
Gideon thought for a moment and shook his head. âThey were the ones who found the child. Ultimately, the 15% share belongs to Juliette, but sheâs no longer around, so this share should be handed to her child. Unfortunately, Old Master Garrett always thought that sheâs his biological granddaughter, but sheâs a fraud.
âHeâs still alive, thus he can make decisions regarding the shares. However, I wonder whoâll get the share once heâs gone. Till then, thereâll be a fight to the death for it. To sum up, the Garrett family is like a mud pool and the Graham family will face a sticky end once they get involved with the former.â
Nell nodded approvingly.
They chatted for a while, then retired to bed late at night.
The Garrett family.
The Old Master had just escaped death and his family members were relieved.
After the doctorâs thorough examination and conclusion that the Old Master was temporarily out of danger, everybody began to relax.
They were exhausted after spending the entire night with the Old Master. After that, they went home.
Naturally, the doctor remained to care for the Old Master. Celine was also told by the latter to stay back as well.
âCeline, come, sit beside Grandpa.â
Old Master Garrett laid on the bed and waved at Celine. She came closer.
âGrandpa, how are you? Feel any discomfort?â
Old Master Garrett waved a hand.
âIâm fine, Iâm an old man anyway. No matter how the doctors treat me, my condition wonât get any better. I know that itâs just a matter of time.â
Celine became emotional when she heard this.
âDonât say that, Grandpa. Youâre a good man and youâll live a long life.â
Old Master Garrett laughed.
âSilly child.â
Although the doctor said that he was out of danger, Old Master Garrett was still physically weak. Even his voice sounded frail and raspy.
He reached out and caressed Celineâs head, saying, âItâs alright if I donât live a long life, but the most important person is you, Celine. Do you have any plans for yourself in the future?â
Celine seemed lost and confused.
âI... I just want to accompany you, Grandpa.â
Old Master Garrett smiled. âWhat for? Aside from the fact I have no idea how long Iâll live, you need to have your own life after Iâm gone.â
Celine was about to cry when he said that.
Old Master Garrett quickly stopped himself from talking further, but deep down, he sighed.
This child was too kind. He wondered how much she had been through before she became as sensitive as this.
He exhaled and switched the subject.
âCeline, what do you think of Young Master Graham who came over tonight?â
Celine froze.
She regarded him with a pair of doe eyes in a puzzled manner.
The Old Master narrowed his eyes and smiled affectionately. âThe Grahams are an elite family in the capital city, just like us, Garretts. They have been around for more than a hundred years. When their Old Master was still alive, he was Grandpaâs best friend. Furthermore, Youngest Graham is a nice man with a cheerful and honest disposition, unlike those playboys in other families. If you marry him, heâll definitely take care of you and I feel at ease. What do you think?â
Celine blushed and lowered her head bashfully. She wanted to bury her head in the ground.
âI... I donât know.â
Old Master Garrett roared with laughter.
âDonât be shy. Boys and girls get married when they grow up, itâs perfectly normal!â
Celine forced herself to smile.
âGrandpa, Iâm not ready for marriage yet.â
Old Master Garrett was surprised and frowned.
âWhy? Donât you like him? Or do you have someone else in mind?â
Celine waved a hand. âNo, no, I, I...â

Old Master Garrett could not stop himself from asking, âDo you have any other concerns?â
