Chapter 341
Spoiled by the President
Celine nodded.
âGrandpa, I was married once, and so many things happened during that time. Iâm scared...â
Old Master Garrettâs expression sank.
âThat is the past. Whatâs been done is done, so donât dwell on it. The Youngest Graham is open-minded and he wonât mind, so you donât have to be worried about it.â
Celine bit her lip and shook her head firmly.
âNo, it was all my fault. If I hadnât met the wrong people and had known about Dadâs and Grandmaâs matters earlier, the outcome would have been different. Although Iâve returned to the Garrett family, I know full well that anyone thinks my past is an unerasable stain.
âI have embarrassed you, Grandpa. So why should I bring trouble to someone else? Itâs fair enough if Young Master Graham does mind, but he doesnât and heâs so kind-hearted. This gives me more of a reason not to hurt him and let others humiliate him by saying that he married a murdererâs daughter. I canât do this!â
As Celine spoke, she covered her face and sobbed.
Old Master Garrett was so furious that his expression hardened and the entire atmosphere in the room tensed up.
After a while, he roared, âRubbish! Whoâs the murdererâs daughter? You were adopted by them! Your real mother is the daughter of the Jackman family and is completely unrelated to the Jennings family! What do the evils of the Jennings family have to do with you?â
Halfway through his words, Old Master Garrett coughed violently as he was too emotional.
At once, Celine comforted him by handing him water and patting his back. After a while, the Old Master recovered.
Celine regarded him anxiously, âGrandpa, are you alright? Iâm sorry, itâs my fault, I shouldnât have brought this up...â
Old Master Garrett waved a hand and replied feebly.
âIâm fine, dear child. Donât worry, Iâll settle this matter for you. The remarks you heard are insignificant, so donât take them personally. I know that you have conflicts with the Leithâs daughter-in-law and that is why I want you to marry Youngest Graham. With the Grahams behind you, the Leithâs daughter-in-law wonât dare to bully you, even if Iâm gone.
âAlso, the 15%-share that your mother had left behind will be transferred to your name. Remember, no matter what Youngest Graham tells you, you mustnât transfer the shares to him. This money is for you to safeguard yourself. You must learn to protect yourself and donât trust anyone easily.â
As he spoke, he coughed loudly again. Celineâs face was already covered in tears.
âGrandpa...â
âCeline, Iâve failed your mother. Back then, if I hadnât insisted that she leave that man, you wouldnât have been abducted and taken away from the Garrett family, and you wouldnât have suffered so much.
âYour mother died of depression, and it was because of me. I just wish that you live a good life as an atonement for what I did to your mother and you.â
Celine held his hand and wept.
Meanwhile, outside of the house.
Jim Garrett eavesdropped on the conversation in the house and his expression darkened.
After a snort, he walked away.
The Garrett Residence was made up of three connected villas. Old Master Garrett lived in one villa, while his two sons lived in the other two respectively.
When Jim stepped out, he saw Harriet holding Joseph by his arm and they were walking towards him.
Noticing how peeved he seemed, Harriet greeted him cheerily, âElder Brother, itâs so late! Havenât you retired to bed?â
Jim scoffed, âIâm not the only one who isnât asleep yet, am I? I see that the two of you are in good health. Itâs already 2:00 am, yet youâre here strolling about like youâre not afraid of the cold.â
Joseph smiled calmly. âWeâre worried about Dad, so we wanted to sleep a bit later.â
Jim jeered, âFine, donât you think I donât know what youâre up to? Youâre just worried that you wonât get any inheritance or get a lesser share if Dad dies suddenly. Stop fooling me. I know what you are thinking.â
Joseph immediately looked upset.
âElder Brother, I canât help it if you think of us this way, but you shouldnât judge the benevolence of others based on your own narrow-minded perspective. You might have your eye on Dadâs inheritance, but that doesnât mean others think the same way as you.â
Jim gritted his teeth. âEnough! You, a benevolent man? Why would you find a low-life to manipulate Dad? If youâre benevolent, you wouldnât have let her dupe Dad for 15% worth of shares! Let me tell you, these shares belong to the Garretts. Everyone in our family deserves part of it, so donât pocket everything on your own! Else, I wonât stand for it, come hell or high water!â
Joseph frowned.
âElder Brother, the shares were given to Celine by Dad and it has nothing to do with us.â
âHa!â Jim reacted as if he had heard a big joke. âCeline Jennings? Her? Who is she? Dad listened to you and now he thinks that sheâs Juliâs child, thatâs why he gave it to her. Once he knows that she isnât Juliâs child, who do you think will get the shares?â
Josephâs expression sank.
âElder Brother, stop it with the nonsense!â
âAm I talking nonsense, or do you feel guilty?! I knew about this all along. I just kept it a secret so that Dad feels happy, but youâre a fool to assume Iâm clueless! Iâll tell you this, nobody is going to stop you from doing whatever you want, but I wonât let you have all of the shares. If you donât believe me, we shall see who wins in the end!â
Then, he stormed off.
With a crease between her brows, Harriet held Josephâs arm and said softly, âJoseph, will Elder Brother reveal Celineâs identity to Dad?â
Joseph shook his head.
âNo, Dad hasnât announced his will. Revealing her identity at this time wonât do him any good. Assuming he does want to start a fight, heâll wait until Dad announces the details of the will.â
Harriet let out a sigh of relief.
âWe did all of this just so Dad can hang on for a little longer. Didnât you notice that ever since Celine returned, Dad is healthier and more energetic?
He got sick this time because of the accident.â
Joseph nodded.

ï¤Chapter 487 The End Pt. 5 âThatâs true, the Garretts depend upon Dad now. Once he leaves us, the family will split apart like a tray of loose sand. When that time arrives, the Garrett family wonât stand a chance against anyone. I fear that, till then, we will be excluded from the Four Great Clans.â
Harriet was worried too.
However, Joseph patted her hand and consoled her, âLuckily, Dad is fine, so we donât have to worry too much. Weâll keep watch. If his condition is still stable, weâll go back to sleep.â
Harriet nodded.
