Nell was furious.

“To bring up something like that as a joke, I can see how Miss Nolan is like as a person.”

The expression on Joanne’s face remained unchanged. She had heard those kinds of words so much that they no longer bothered her.

Her eyes continued to stare straight at Gideon.

“Young Master Leith, will you consider it?”

Nell was so angry that she wanted to claw at Joanne, but she gritted her teeth and grabbed Gideon’s arm. “Dear, I really like those earrings.”

Gideon nodded indulgently. “Alright, I’ll buy them for you.”

Joanne seemed slightly disappointed.

Joanne’s expression shifted.

With a nod, Gale smiled at Nell and Joel before he left.

Once he had left, Joel stammered and asked, “Brother, is he the current head of that Bauhinia Clan?”

Gideon said indifferently, “No, he’s Gale Shelby, the fourth son of Lennox Shelby. The current head is Lennox’s second son, Gabriel Shelby.”

Joel nodded. “I see.”

At that moment, a familiar voice was heard.

“Gideon, Joel, you’re here.”

The three turned to see Old Master Garrett and Joseph Garrett.

“Grandpa Garrett, Second Uncle.”

“Oh, Nelly is here too.”

Old Master Garrett looked at Nell with a kind and gentle smile.

Feeling as if she was being overwhelmed by favor from the elder, she quickly replied, “Yes, has Grandpa Garrett’s health been better lately?”

“I’m much better now. It’s an old problem that won’t kill me, so there’s no need to worry. What about you? You were injured last time. Are you alright now?”

Nell hurriedly said, “I’ve recovered a long time ago. Thank you for your concern, Grandpa Garrett.”

Old Master Garrett nodded. “That’s good, that’s good. You’re a good child.”

His gaze turned to the side and looked at the silhouette of the man who had just left and asked, “Who was that?”

Gideon replied, “Someone from the Bauhinia Clan, Gale Shelby.”

“Gale Shelby?”

Old Master Garrett’s expression shifted.

Nell was confused. “What’s wrong?”

“Oh, nothing. It’s nothing.”

The Old Master clearly looked strange but he quickly brushed it off. “By the way, I’m having a family dinner at home tomorrow and would like to formally apologize to you for what happened before. Please be sure to come over?”

Gideon looked at Nell.

Nell hesitated for a moment and said, “There’s no need to, Grandpa Garrett. I appreciate your kindness, but the matter is a thing of the past and it doesn’t bother me anymore, so there’s no need for dinner.”

The Old Master quickly said, “It’s not just to apologize to you. There’s something else that I... I want to tell you in person.”

Nell looked at him. “What is it? There’s no harm in saying it now.”

“Well...”

Joseph explained, “Nelly, there are some things that are inconvenient to talk about here, so just take it as a favor to Second Uncle and come tomorrow night.”

Nell felt slightly awkward.
