Chapter 440

Spoiled by the President

It was a venue where a large amount of wealth poured in from across all directions, they had given it a name full of aggression — Tiger’s Den.

Word was that not only were there various kinds of table games, including Pai Gow Poker. There were even boxing matches patrons could cast their bets on and other far more exciting forms of entertainment.

This was a money-printing cove, it was also the ultimate entertainment destination for the wealthy.

Most of the people who came here were not common folk, they were the rich and powerful from all over the world.

Nell got out of the car, accompanied by Nancy and Matthew. They tossed the key to the valet and entered via the entrance of the casino.

Since it was during the daytime, there were not many people inside. However, she knew that this was all a front.

On the outside, the Tiger’s Den was a regular rock club. In truth, the real entertainment was located underground.

As far as she knew, a good number of members of the Dragon Regiment had been recruited over here. If her sources proved to be correct, there should be a lot of her old acquaintances here!

When the notion came to Nell, she tightened her fingers. They walked past the dimly lit hall, the corridor was pitch-black as the lights were not turned on.

Using the information she had sourced, she found an elevator in the corner. The elevator was well hidden, it was easy to overlook it if one was not actively searching for it.

The elevator doors opened. She walked inside and selected the second floor underground.

They arrived quickly.

When the elevator doors opened again, her eyes were dazzled by blinding lights.

It was an underground market full of life. Dazzling lights, a myriad of people, all types of table games were littered across the area. Somewhere not far off, there was a boxing ring. Two boxers were dueling inside the ring with the crowd of people heckling, screaming, and shouting at them. The commotion was enough to tear off the roof of the building.

Looks like business was booming.

She slowly raised the corner of her lips, a hint of irony glimpsed past her dark eyes.

It was then when a casino staff appeared before her, he asked respectfully with a perfectly angular bow, “What sort of assistance can we provide our esteemed patrons?”

She stepped forward and stated while surveying her surroundings, “I’m looking for your boss.”

The casino staff was visibly startled.

He smiled faintly after and turned around after he finished. “Please wait for a moment.”

Within a moment, a slightly plump middle-aged man approached them.

“Miss, you were looking for me?”

The man hung a faint smile on his face, he appeared very polite and composed.

Nell barely spared her so much as a glance.

“It’s only been a few days since I’ve last came here and there’s already a new hire? In that case, I think I’d rather keep this thing here for myself.”

She turned around right after she finished.

The middle-aged man's pupils shrank, and a gleam of light flashed in his eyes.

He signaled for the staff to stand down for the moment and said with a smile, “Please hold, miss. May I know what you are planning to show to my boss?”

Nell’s lips ever so slightly crooked upward, she looked at him with a hint of a smile.

“Bring me to him, otherwise I’ll walk right out the door. I guarantee your boss is going to regret letting me walk away.”

The middle-aged man’s expression changed, there was a sudden sternness on his face.

He said solemnly, “Please wait a moment.”

After he finished, he headed to the counter and picked up a phone.

Nell was not in a rush, the three of them stood waiting silently.

Within a short moment, he returned to them taking large steps at a time. This time he was visibly more courteous than he was previously. With his right hand, he motioned. “This way please.”

Under the guidance of the middle-aged man, Nell entered the elevator with him and went to the second floor.

They came before a door. The middle-aged man gave the door several knocks until a deep voice came from behind the door. “Come in!”

The door opened slowly.

Nell sneered icily, who would have thought that a once relatively unknown member of the Dragon Regiment would one day ascend to such great heights!

As the saying went, with a new reign comes a new disposition of power!

She had Nancy and Matthew wait by the door while she walked in all by herself.

The room was decorated luxuriously. Behind the large wood-crafted table was a man with a buzzcut seated on an office chair, he turned around slowly when she came in.

Carl!

He was one of the closest subordinates to Scarface.

Carl was visibly surprised when he saw her.

The woman before him wore a light blue shirt coupled with a white-colored cropped pants. Her appearance was bright and refined and she oozed an upright and honest aura. There was nothing about her that would give off the impression that she was someone who would visit a place such as this.

There was a glimpse of bewilderment that flashed in his eyes. He waved his hand to signal for the middle-aged man to leave them.

“I heard you have something for me?”

He looked at Nell curiously. He did not enquire about her identity, nor did he invite her to take a seat.

Nell did not mind. She took out a folder from her purse and tossed it on the table.

As he began flipping through it, she began speaking, “In March last year, six people were killed as a result of the illegal boxing match hosted by the organization; In April, the uneven distribution of profits sparked a civil war which led to the death of twelve people; In July last year, the Californian champion boxer’s food was poisoned with a solution of muscle atrophy agent in an attempt to tamper the match, this led to the boxer being paralyzed; And in December...”

“That’s enough!”

Carl shut the file which produced an abrupt snap, his face immediately darkened.

“Who are you? What do you want?”

Nell smirked ever so slightly. “Aren’t you going to ask me to sit?”

Carl reached for the service bell on the table and gave it a light tap. Shortly after, the middle-aged man could be heard from outside the door.

“Get some coffee for the missus.”

“Yes!”

The middle-aged man took his leave. Nell sat face to face with Carl at the table.

The coffee was ready and presented to her very quickly.

She smiled faintly, even making sure to thank him politely.

Carl’s expression became somewhat twisted.

“You can begin now! What’s your motive? Also, where did you get all these?”

He had reckoned he had done a pretty good job over all these years of managing the Tiger’s Den for Scarface, he never left a trace that could be used against them, and yet, all of these secrets were suddenly laid bare before him by some stranger, it was an utterly shocking revelation.

Country F had always been known for its tightly regulated laws. If word of their immensely lucrative illegal underground casino operation got out, there was no doubt that he was going to get the death sentence!

He was not naïve enough to believe that he could keep the information from leaking out simply by keeping this woman captive.

Despite knowing of his identity, she had made the bold choice of only bringing along two of her accomplices. It was either due to the opposition having something up their sleeves that could stun them, or that the strength of their forces was far and beyond him!

Based on the current situation, it was evident that the former applied to Nell.

“Trade?”

“Correct!” Nell leisurely leaned against the back of the chair and folded her arms in front of her. This sequence of action coupled rather awkwardly with her otherwise rather innocent appearance.

It was as if she did not realize it herself as she went on, “I heard that you have a superior who went by the name, Scarface. You also have a rival named Evelyn?”

Carl stared at her without a word.

His silence implied that he acknowledged it as the truth.

Nell smirked before continuing, “As far as I know, you and Evelyn have always made sure to keep out of each other’s way. Yet, despite knowing the relations between you two, Scarface still insisted on having her manage the casino, even sharing the same position as you. Why do you think he did so?”

Carl’s eyes slightly darkened for just a split instant, but the keen Nell had caught a glimpse of it.
