Chapter 443
Spoiled by the President
Alexander Jeeves said from behind, âYoung Master is taking care of some things. Missus, please have a seat first!â
Janet turned around and smiled at him. She placed the cake on the table and sat on the sofa.
âWant something to drink?â
âAnything is fine.â
âIs red tea alright with you?â
âYup!â
There was an antique tea set on the table. Alexander skillfully brewed the tea, demonstrating his mastered KungFu Tea Style.
Janet looked thoughtful.
Not long after, the fresh fragrance of tea filled up the room. Alexander served Janet a cup of brewed tea. She took a small sip and could taste the slight bitterness of the tea, followed by a sweet aftertaste. It was truly a nice brew.
âI didnât think youâd have it in you!â
Alexander smiled shyly and sat opposite Janet.
âYoung Master likes it, so I took up a short course during my free time! I hope I didnât embarrass myself!â
Janet smiled and said, âLiamâs lucky to have such a loyal assistant!â
Alexander shook his head, a complex emotion flashed across his face.
âThe Griffin family was kind to me and Young Master is the Griffin familyâs heir. Not only will I brew this tea, but even if I have to sacrifice my life, Iâll gladly do it.â
At this moment, the room door opened and the people inside started filing out.
Alexander stood up, peered through the glass panel at Liam, and gestured to Janet to head inside.
Janet got up and carried the cake with her while walking to the office.
âWhy did you come so suddenly?â
Liam was still sitting behind his desk and did not lift his head to acknowledge her. He was too concentrated on a business report.
Janet walked over, placed the cake on his desk, and smiled.
âI missed you, so I came over! I arrived this morning but was worried you havenât eaten yet. I even brought you some cake!â
Liam finally looked at her, glanced at the cake, and paused.
He lowered his eyelids and was emotionless.
âSay it! What do you need help with?â
Janet choked.
She secretly cursed him in her mind, âThis devil! Can he not be so smart?â
In reality, over the past half a year, though the two of them looked like they have reconciled and might even look affectionate from a third party perspective, only Janet knew that this man still could not let go of the past.
Due to this, the two of them naturally formed a gap.
She pouted, dragged a leather chair next to him, and sat down angrily.
Liam Jackman was serious when he worked. She did not speak up, so he also did not say a word.
There was silence in the office and one could hear the soft scribbling sound of a pen over a piece of paper.
Janet waited until he finished checking the stack of documents.
She asked, âAre you done?â
Liam nodded.
âThen hurry and eat this!â
Liam was stunned for a moment and looked at her with a baffled face. It was as if a flower had grown out of her head!
âYouâre suddenly so nice to me. Thereâs surely nothing good.â
Although he said this, he still called on Alexander to bring in some cutleries.
The cake was not small. He cut a slice for himself and gave the rest to Alexander.
Seeing her man seated behind his desk and eating the cake gracefully, Janet thought to herself, âHeâs probably always so busy that he forgets to eat!â
This great Griffin family was now his burden to carry. Would he not feel tired?
Her heart ached at this thought.
Liam finished the small slice of cake quickly.
He took a tissue and wiped his lips elegantly. While drinking the tea that was served by Alexander, he asked, âCan you spit it out now?â
Janet squinted her eyes and smiled. She then pulled out the information she had on the Nelson Residence.
âLook, this is what I found 2 days ago about the old mansion that will be sold at the charity auction. I think that the mansionâs location is amazing. Itâs backed by the mountains and overlooking the river. Even though its market price is not great at the moment, looking at the inflation rate of property prices in the capital, it should double in less than 5 years.
âAlso, didnât the Griffin family have plans to expand in the mainland? If we buy this house during the charity auction, it might even give the Griffin family a good image of being charitable. What do you think?â
Liam simply skimmed through the information Janet gave him and replied, âItâs nothing much.â
Janetâs expression dimmed.
She wanted to slap that smug face of his.
It was just as though he read her mind, Liam explained, âThe location of this mansion is secluded and itâs also near a military base. Regardless if itâs transportation or livelihood, this place is just not very convenient. Although the scenery is quite nice, more places in Jiangcheng have better scenery compared to this. Moreover, itâs not like you donât know what sort of business the Griffin family is in. Do you think itâs wise for me to buy a house right at the military campâs doorstep?â
Janet thought about his comments and it was indeed inappropriate. Who told him that this house was for his usage? If it was not suitable for the Griffin family, it did not mean that it was not a perfect fit for her!
Liam curled his lips, folded his arms on his chest whilst leaning back on his chair, then looked at her with a smile.
âWhy do you want to buy a house all of a sudden? Why donât you tell me the reason? After all, I might change my mind after hearing you out.â
Janet smirked.
âYou think too much! I genuinely saw this house as a good investment opportunity for the Griffin family. If you donât want it, then so be it!â
After she finished talking, she gathered all the documents, shoved it in her bag, and left puffing.
Looking at the back of the woman leaving angrily, Liam crossed his legs behind his desk with half-squinted eyes.
He looked deep in thought.
A moment later, he pressed a button on his office phone.
Alexander came in an instant.
âYoung Master.â
âFollow the missus and find out where she lives. Help her with some arrangements. Iâll go over after work.â
Alexander responded, âYes, understood.â
Liam waved his hand and Alexander left the room.
ä¸ä¸ Janet left the building frustrated. She threw her purse in the car and sat inside.
She did not have much hope when she came to meet Liam.
Even so, Janet still felt hurt as she only managed to say a few words before getting blatantly rejected by him.
What should she do now?
This house was worth 10 million. This was nothing to her when she was still on good terms with her father, but in her current situation, 10 million was not a small sum.
The charity auction was the day after and time was imminent. Where would she find such a big sum of money?
Her eyes wandered around and her gaze stopped at the phone beside her. She frowned slightly.
In the end, she picked up her phone and dialed her brother ä¸ Ulric Hancockâs number.

âJan, whatâs up?â
âUmmm...â
She lived all her life without having to ask for a penny. This time, it was hard for her to make such a request.
Thinking about the house, she bit down and said, âBrother, can you get 10 million for me by tomorrow?â
Ulric Hancock was shocked. âWhy do you need so much money?â
âDonât ask! I have my reasons.â
After some thought, she quickly added, âItâs best if itâs your personal savings, not the kind where Father has access to.â
