Chapter 444
Spoiled by the President
On the other end of the call, Ulric Hancock thought about it and said, âI donât have that much on me at the moment.â
âHow much do you have?â
âAround 8 million.â
âJust transfer that to me first. Iâll find a way for the rest.â
âAlright, but...â
He paused and with a worried tone, he asked, âDid you get into trouble? Can you resolve it by yourself?â
Janet Hancock was taken aback momentarily and laughed, âDonât worry! Iâm fine. Iâll return your money soon.â
âHa! You donât have to return the money. Just take good care of yourself. Itâs been so long and your feud with Father is still ongoing? That kid Liam Jackman, is he treating you well?â
Afraid that she would not be able to hold back her emotions, Janet did not want to continue the conversation for too long and tried to cut it short.
âYes, heâs treating me well. Donât worry about me, Brother!â
âOkay, thatâs great!â
âAlright, I still have some things to do. Talk later! Bye!â
âBye!â
Janet put down the phone and stared at the words âCall Disconnectedâ on her screen. She sat in the car and felt perplexed.
After a while, her lips curled up.
There was a warm and fuzzy feeling rising in her heart.
She left the Griffin Corporation headquarters and drove to the hotel.
Unexpectedly, when she arrived at the hotel entrance, she saw Alexander coming down from the car.
âMissus, Young Master asked me to follow you. If you have any orders for me, please let me know anytime.â
Janet stared at him coldly with a foul expression.
âTell him that he doesnât have to come over today. Iâll just ignore him!â
After saying this, she left in a huff.
Alexanderâs face stiffened.
Thinking to himself, he touched his nose.
Sure enough, when the boss and his missus got into a fight, the first to suffer was him as a personal assistant.
Alexander did not leave but made a call and relayed the Missusâ exact words to Liam. He then followed the missus into the hotel.
On the other end, Liam let out a snort upon hearing the womanâs message.
He looked at the information about the mansion placed on the side of his desk.
Ha!
She thought that he did not know!
That house was the residence of a famous painter from the previous generation, Nigel Jenkins. He was Janetâs idol.
He did not have any children, so after he died, his nephews decided to put the house on auction.
Janet desperately wanted to buy this house, and only God knew what was in her heart.
He sneered and threw the documents to the side.
After several seconds, he took them back and dialed Alexanderâs number.
âHelp me check when this house is up for auction.â
On the other end, Alexander was stunned and could not fathom what was going through his bossâ mind.
However, he was a mere assistant and did not dare to question his boss, so he just obliged.
He found out that the auction would be held the day after tomorrow.
Liam Jackman frowned.
âBook a ticket back home for me tomorrow.â
Alexander was shocked.
âTomorrow?â
âIs there a problem?â
âUhhh...no problem.â
Liam hung up the phone.
The next day.
Janet left the country in a huff the next morning.
This time coming to Country F, she originally planned on making the trip personally because she wanted to ask Liam for a favor. Assuming that he agreed, she would have achieved her goal and planned to go shopping with Nell Jennings for a quick catch up.
She never would have thought that Liam did not even think twice and outrightly refused her request.
Now, she did not even have the mood to go shopping with Nell.
Missing her child at home, she decided to just pack her things and leave. She silently swore that she would never try anything this stupid in the future!
Nell only got to know that her best friend was in Country F after she went home.
After listening to Janetâs complaints, Nell did not know whether to laugh or cry.
Janet is so Janet. Even after she went through all that she had and lost her status as the pampered Eldest Young Miss of the Hancock family, Janet was still as stubborn and impulsive as before.
Nell laughed, âHow much are you lacking now?â
âAround 2 million.â
âOkay, Iâll transfer it to you in a bit.â
Janetâs eyes brightened.
âReally? Thank you so much, Nelly! I love you!!â
Nell scoffed. âTsk! You only love me now, right?â
âOf course not! I love you most! Unlike those stupid men. Theyâre all dogs and should just go to hell!â
The two of them laughed and talked for a long time. They agreed to meet up after Nell comes back to the country and hung up.
The next day.
The auction was held at the Oriental Hotel downtown.
Janet finished her lunch, went back to her room, and picked out a simple black dress. She put on some light makeup and matched her dress with an elegant pearl necklace. She took her purse and was ready to leave the house.
The servant downstairs saw Janet and was stunned by her beauty.
The servant giggled and asked, âMissus, where are you going dressed up so nicely?â
Janet smiled and said, âIâm attending an auction.â
âOh, in that case, have a safe trip and donât be home too late.â
âYup, I know!â
After that, she got into the car.
She chose not to drive today and got their chauffeur to give her a ride.
In less than half an hour, Janet arrived at the Oriental Hotel.
The Oriental Hotel, one of the businesses under the Graham Corporation. It included a sauna, guestrooms, KTV, restaurants, a golf course, and other forms of entertainment under one roof. It was indeed Jiangchengâs biggest hotel.
Janet walked into the majestic lobby and could see that those attending the auction were Jiangchengâs social elites. She knew some of them from the past, but now that her circumstances changed, even if they saw each other, they would just turn a blind eye.
Spoiled by the President ï¤Chapter 443 Ask Him For Help The auction started at 3:00 pm.
She found a remote corner and sat down. Her eyes swept through the crowd and she did not find any familiar faces.
Janet looked down at her watch. It was still early.
She calmed herself down, sat in the corner, and waited patiently.
The lights in the auction hall were bright, but following the announcement of the host that the auction is starting, the lights in the hall dimmed, leaving only 2 spotlights. One of the spotlights was shining on the host while the other was moving slowly with the presenter exhibiting the auction item.
âNow introducing the first auction item, a Tang Dynasty blue and white porcelain. Unearthed in Yangzhou in 2006, this porcelain, whether it be the color or the craftsmanship...â
The host eloquently introduced the auction item on stage, but Janet was uninterested.
The auction hall was enormous. Most of the attendees sat at the front few rows, all except Janet, who was sitting by herself in the last row. If one was not observant, one would have missed her presence.
The time went by slowly and many pieces of valuable items were auctioned off.
It was finally the last item!
âDear guests, now I would like to introduce the final item of the day. Please take a look at the screen ahead of you.â
The screen behind the host lit up instantly. In front of them displayed an old solemn mansion, the antique-looking building gave off a remarkable historical ambiance.
âThis mansion, as some of you may already know, was the residence of the late Nigel Jenkins, a famous internationally renowned painter of the previous generation. It is located at the foot of Anshan and near the capitalâs military base. Today, with the passing of Nigel Jenkins, his foster-
grandson, our capitalâs young and promising Young Master Moore, is willing to offer up this house for this auction. All proceeds will be donated to the capitalâs Rehabilitation Center for Autistic Children.â
