Chapter 446
Spoiled by the President
Janet looked down at the hand that was stretched out and curled her lips.
âI am already acquainted with Young Master Moore. Your speech just now was truly touching.â
Janet did not extend her hand.
Harvey Moore stiffened his back.
He withdrew his hand carefully and smiled, âMs. Hancock, you indulge me. Speaking of which, Iâd like to thank you all for supporting this charity. With these funds, we can finally provide rehabilitation support to autistic kids, which is a good deed.â
Janet raised her eyebrows and asked, âIf you say it like that, isnât your contribution greater?â
âI donât mean it that way. After all, weâre all at the right place and the right time, so itâs only right that we contribute to our country and people.â
Harvey Moore turned towards Luna Graham and asked, âAre you staying for the dinner banquet?â
Luna Graham shook her head and replied, âNo, I still have some matters to attend to tonight so I wouldnât be joining. Will you be staying?â
Harvey Mooreâs eyes darkened in a flash. Even if it was for a short moment, Janetâs keen eyes caught the sudden change in expression.
He smiled gently, âNo, I have some work to take care of later.â
âThen shall we go for dinner?â
âAlright!â
Janet saw that they were getting along and did not want to become the third wheel, so she turned around, prepared to leave.
As she moved her feet, she was suddenly stopped by Luna Graham.
âMs. Hancock, you donât mind having a meal with us, do you?â
Janet was slightly stunned.
A fool could see that Harvey Moore wanted to have dinner alone with Luna Graham. He might even harbor other thoughts.
Sharp-witted people would not disturb the pair.
When she looked into Lunaâs eyes, she could not bear to reject her.
For a moment, she smiled and nodded, âMy pleasure.â
The three of them went to the 4th floor of the Oriental Hotel.
The 4th floor had an open style restaurant. There was only a VIP private room in the innermost area. As many people came to the auction today, the room was already pre-booked.
Luna Graham looked apologetic and said, âIf you donât mind, we can sit at the main hall?â
When the beauty spoke, Harvey Moore naturally agreed.
Janet was also indifferent.
The 3 of them picked a spot next to the window.
As the host, Luna Graham was in charge of ordering and ordered all the chefâs recommended dishes. She also ordered a pot of TieGuanYin tea and they started to chit-chat.
The 3 of them were familiar with each otherâs backgrounds by the time they sat down as they had a conversation at the auction hall and on the way to the restaurant.
Harvey Moore laughed, âI didnât know that Ms. Hancock is from the Hancock family of Jincheng. No wonder you were so generous with that house.â
Janet simply said, âI just admire the famous name of Master Jenkins and wanted to keep the mansion as a memento! Speaking of which, Ms.
Graham, I wasnât aware that you had a special relationship with Master Jenkins, yet you were willing to pay such a high price for the mansion. This caught me by surprise.â
Luna raised her eyebrows and teased, âNow what youâre saying is you can do whatever you want but I canât?â
Janet pressed her lips together and had no comments.
A moment later, the dishes were served.
Luna asked the waiter for a bottle of red wine. While the waiter was pouring their wine, Luna went closer to Harvey and whispered a few words to him.
Harvey raised his eyebrows and a smile crept on his face.
âOh! So Ms. Hancock is an apprentice of Third Grandfather? You have my respect.â
During the auction, to ensure that she got the bid, Janet passed on a note to Luna. In it was written: âTeacherâs former residence. Bidding for this house as a memento. Please be magnanimous.â
Janet knew that with Lunaâs wealth she simply would not have stood a chance if Luna had persisted on wanting the mansion!
That was why she made this move!
Fortunately, her gut feeling was right. Although Luna was born with a silver spoon, she was still sentimental. Participating in an auction should just be a moment of impulse, yet not having the idea of needing something.
Janet smiled lightly, âTechnically speaking, it wasnât an apprentice-master relationship. Itâs just that he used to be my teacher for a short while when I was younger. After coming to the capital, I wanted to thank him well, but I didnât think that he had passed away. Now that I have a chance, I just wanted to buy this house as a keepsake!â
Harvey Mooreâs expression changed.
His eyes were calm but his face had a touch of sadness.
âIf Third Grandfatherâs spirit was looking at us now, he would have been touched by Ms. Hancockâs actions today.â
Luna Graham patted him on the shoulders to comfort him.
Harvey looked at Luna and smiled warmly.
Janet felt awkward and kept quiet for the rest of the meal.
The meal quickly finished.
The 3 of them finished eating and were about to leave.
At the entrance, Janet stopped in her tracks.
She was deliberately keeping one step behind and quietly hid behind Lunaâs body.
The next second, she heard Luna saying, âOh? Mr. Jackman? What a coincidence!â
Janet bit down and silently cursed that this year must be her unlucky year.
âI saw you! What are you still hiding for?â
His voice was cold and carried a hint of impatience.
Janet had to slowly emerge from Lunaâs back.
Lunaâs eyes glanced between both of them.
âOh! I almost forgot that Ms. Hancock and Mr. Jackman are old acquaintances!â
She said while slowly inching away, revealing Janetâs whole body.
Harvey stood by the side and laughed lightly. His usual look, gentle and elegant, with eyes that hid an almost invisible dim light.
Janet walked toward Liam Jackman and said quietly, âWhy are you here?â
Liam Jackman took her hand and wanted to leave.
He was not bothered to greet Luna Graham or Harvey Moore.
Luna took the initiative to greet Liam so she had an awkward expression on her face.
Harvey Moore half-squinted his eyes and glanced at the group of people behind Liam Jackman.
âThe Griffin family is indeed different, needing so many people to accompany him just for a meal. What a big shot!â
If this was said by any other person, it would have come across as jealousy.
Nonetheless, this came from the mouth of Harvey Moore. His gentle tone paired with that genuine smile made it sound like he was cracking a joke.
Liam Jackman glanced at him.
âWho are you?â
Everyone did a double take.
Janet was also stunned and almost did not hold back her sarcastic laugh.
Even though the Moore family could not compare to the capitalâs Four Great Clans or the prestigious Griffin family overseas, they were still considered a middle-sized wealthy family.

Everyone could not wait to butter up Harvey, so who would intentionally be impudent towards him?
Janet did not fancy Harvey as she heard many rumors about him in the past. However, for the sake of giving him face, she could not say much.
Now that Liam Jackman said this, she could not help but silently give him a thumbs up.
âLiam Jackman! You are ruthless!â
Harveyâs expression was just as though he had swallowed a fly. His face was slightly distorted but still pretended to be calm and collected. This made Janet secretly jump for joy!
