“You guys saved me?”

“Yeah, we couldn’t leave you in that condition last night. We don’t know who you are or what happened to you, so we didn’t dare send you to the hospital. Fortunately, all your injuries are external, so you should be fine after the wounds are treated.”

As Nell was explaining, she seemed to remember something and turned to ask Gideon.

“He didn’t have a fever last night, right?”

Gideon replied disinterestedly, “No.”

“That’s good. It seems like the medicine I gave him last night was quite effective.”

Watching their interaction, the stranger thought their communication between them was natural and familiar. His gaze deepened.

“Thank you so much for helping me. Last night, I accosted this lady out of desperation, I sincerely apologize.”

As he spoke, he bowed to her deeply from his waist.

Nell smiled. “You’re welcome. About last night... I understand.”

The stranger nodded and looked at Gideon.

“Both of you saved my life. If there is any opportunity in the future, I will surely repay you. How do I address you?”

Nell smiled. “I’m Nell, and he... His last name is Leith.”

She erred on the side of caution and did not divulge Gideon Leith’s full name.

The stranger did not press further as he nodded.

“I still have some things to take care of, so I won’t stay any longer. If there is a chance, I will definitely repay your kindness.”

Nell was shocked. “You’re leaving now? Are your injuries okay?”

“Thanks for your concern, but I’ll be fine.”

Seeing his insistence, Nell did not say much. She gave him the rest of last night’s medicine just in case and sent him off.

After sending the person off, the two of them returned home. Nell asked Gideon curiously, “Gideon, who do you think he is? I have a feeling that he’s holding a secret.”

Gideon rubbed her head in amusement. “There are many people in this world who have secrets, you don’t have to know them all. It’s almost noon, let’s go over.”

Nell nodded.

Before that, both of them had received a call from the Old Madam, asking them to go back to the old residence.

Since today was the second day of Chinese New Year, Nell thought that they were just going over for a normal gathering. Unexpectedly, Old Madam broached the topic of having a wedding ceremony.

Most probably, the death of Old Master Jackman had made both Old Madam and Old Master feel a little wistful and more appreciative of their loved ones.

They thought that, although Nell and Gideon had obtained their marriage certificate a long time ago, there had not been a proper wedding ceremony.

Now that they were also expecting a child, it was a good opportunity to have a small celebration. At the very least, it would allow the two elders to feel placated. After the birth of their child, they could have a more formal ceremony.

However, both Nell and Gideon found the suggestion to be too much trouble. Both young people were somewhat unwilling.

Nell and Gideon did not know whether to laugh or cry at her antics. Nevertheless, seeing as both elders were so excited, they were happy to play along.

That night, both of them went out for dinner.

The venue was situated by the river. It was a very distinctive high-end restaurant.

Now that Nell was pregnant, she could not eat a lot of things. She could only eat food that was healthy and not greasy.

Nell really loved the cold shrimp dish from this restaurant, but she was not supposed to eat it during her pregnancy.

Seeing the sad look on her face, Gideon peeled a shrimp and placed it into her bowl. He said to her sternly, “You can only eat one.”

Nell hurriedly agreed. Finally, her craving was satisfied and she felt extremely contented.

Amy Leith smiled and told her, “You’re lucky that you don’t have a lot of adverse reaction to your pregnancy, otherwise it will be worse.”

A while ago, Nell had experienced some morning sickness, so she truly understood the difficulty of motherhood. She concurred with Amy’s words.

Gideon held her hand in empathy. He whispered, “We’re only going to have another child, then no more.”

Nell smiled at him and did not say anything.

It was a simple meal, warm and happy.

The next day, they were informed by Old Madam that it would be held this weekend.

The wedding dress was custom-made as an urgent order, so it would be done on time. They also did not have to worry about the venue or the catering as Old Madam would settle everything herself.

With that, both of them did not have much of an opinion either. Time flew by, and before they knew it, it was the weekend.

Since it was agreed to be a simple ceremony, there were not a lot of guests. The only invitees were a few family members from the Leith family, as well as some family members from the Garett family.

Ever since Old Master Garett passed away, the only person from the Garett family who was close to Nell was Joseph Garett.

As such, the Leith family asked Joseph Garett to be one of the witnesses.

Joseph Garett had been through birth, sickness, and death, so he thought that weddings would no longer affect him. Yet, the moment he saw Nell walk out in her wedding dress, he could not help a tear from rolling down his cheek.

She looked so much like her.

She looked exactly like how Juliette Garett looked back then.

If only Juliette did not die, if only she lived to get married, surely, she would look just as beautiful in a wedding dress.

Spoiled by the President Since Nell had previously expressed that she would don a white dress at the formal ceremony later, the wedding dress prepared by the Leith family was a Chinese one.

Her wedding dress was a red qipao, decorated beautifully with blessings of happiness. The design and cut of the dress were specially tailored for Nell, so it highlighted her petite and slender frame perfectly.

As there was no father figure present, Joseph Garett would assume that role as an uncle, to hold her hand as she walked out.

Joseph Garett took Nell’s hand and walked out of the house.

Everyone was seated in the foyer behind the old residence. The ground was covered in lush green grass and the weather was perfect. There were no clouds to be seen, and the sky was a beautiful azure blue. A gentle breeze brushed past, carrying the scent of flowers with it.

The Leith family hired a professional priest, so it was like a Chinese and Western fusion ceremony. When asked for their oaths, both of them said “I do” in unison.

Then, there was the exchange of rings, some ceremonial rituals, followed by the kiss.

Enthusiastic applause sounded all around them.

Nell’s cheeks reddened slightly. She lowered her head and her lips curled into a soft smile.

Then, Old Master Leith came up to hold her hand and pat her back.

The old man was so overjoyed that he could not even speak. After a very long pause, he finally managed to say, “Wonderful, just wonderful!”

Nell was worried about his health, so she said in a concerned tone, “Grandfather, don’t get too excited, take care of your health.”

Old Master Leith wiped his tears away and replied joyously, “I’m fine. I’ve waited for so many years and finally, I get to see Little Gideon’s wedding today. I can now answer to his parents’ souls in heaven with pride. I’m very happy and very relieved.”

Then, he turned to Gideon. “Treat Nelly properly and don’t bully her, okay?”

Gideon nodded deeply. “I know.”
