Chapter 655
Spoiled by the President
Lucy immediately blushed because of Joelâs words.
She fumbled for words and averted her gaze. It was obvious that she was flustered.
Joel continued, âCall me that once and itâd be the thanks I receive from you.â
The man's seductive voice stirred Lucyâs heart to thump all over the place like a booted fawn.
Embarrassed, she said, âYou canât just tell me to address you like that out of the blue. Itâs rather awkward...â
To her surprise, Joel cried out loud before she could finish. âWifey.â
Lucy, â...â
Joel stared at her with full of grievance. âLook, I can do it. Are you falling out of love with me since youâre unwilling to call me that? Tell me, did you fall in love with someone else?â
While speaking, he extended his arm to tickle her.
God knew that Lucy was most afraid of tickles.
She burst into giggles the moment Joel laid his hands on her.
Lucy put up a fight amid chuckles and tried to scramble out of his embrace but the man locked her tight in his arms. There was no way she could escape.
Joel wickedly grinned. âAre you going to do it? Are you?â
Lucy replied, âHahahahahaha... Stop tickling me... Itâs so ticklish... Hahahaha...â
She was almost in tears from the laughter but Joel refused to let her off the hook that easy.
With his hands still going for her weak spots, he said, âSay it and Iâll stop tickling you.â
Left with no choice, Lucy could only beg for mercy.
âOkay... Okay... Iâll say it. Please donât tickle me, hahaha...â
Joel immediately stopped it.
Lucy wiped away her tears, caught in a moment not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
âWhat are you doing? How can you intimidate me like this?â
Joel softly scoffed instead, not getting the idea that he had done something wrong.
âWell, youâre the one refusing to say it. Wifey, I am my pride too and I feel defeated by you. Canât you satisfy your husband's wish even if itâs just calling me hubby once?â
Others might not be able to bear mushy words, let alone Lucy who shuddered at the mention.
She let out a cough before putting on a straight face. âItâs awkward to say it at such an occasion. I canât do it.â
Joel dangerously squinted his eyes.
âSo you want to do it on a different occasion?
Seeing that he misunderstood what she meant, Lucy waved her arm.
âNo, no, I mean...â
She gave a dry laugh and an excuse that was unconvincing even to her. âI think itâs best to go with the flow when it comes to this.â
Joelâs laughter turned colder.
âI donât like to go with the flow, Iâd like it if you call me that now.â
Lucy, â...â
She felt a headache coming.
If possible, she wanted to publish a post online.
âClingy husband is forcing me to call him âHubbyâ, what do I do? Urgently waiting online!â
However, she currently did not have the chance to do so.
In the end, she gave in to the pressure and unwillingly squeezed the word out of her mouth.
âHub...by.â
It did not sound like she was calling for her husband, but rather her enemy judging by the tone of her voice.
Joel felt a chill going down his spine.
Taking a gulp, he gathered the courage to request. âCan it be just a little milder, a little more gentle?â
Lucy laughed out loud sneeringly.
âJoel Foster, you sure have quite the nerve today.â
Joel, â??â
What did he do? He only wanted her to call out to him sweetly and sincerely, was that so much to ask for?
Nevertheless, Lucy had said it. He knew that it was already testing her limits.
Although it was not what Joel wanted and admittedly, he was a little disappointed, he dared not cross the line.
Hence, he chuckled.
âI-I know. Alrighty, itâs getting late. Letâs take a shower and hit the sack.â
Lucy scoffed without saying another word.
In the next few days, Lucy stayed at home and kept Mother Katz company. Every once in a while, she would accompany her mother for a stroll, venturing almost all of the capitalâs perimeters.
Joel, on the other hand, was busy with work.
Since it was nearing the end of the year, every organization had all hands on deck at work. Lucy merely had a few days of rest.
With her break ending on the 24th of the lunar twelfth month, it was back to work.
Soon, it was Lunar New Yearâs Eve.
Since Susan had accepted a performance during the New Year countdown celebration on her behalf, she could not remain at home and celebrate with the family on that day.
Fortunately, the celebration was before midnight and she was arranged as the ninth on the list to perform. Once her performance was done, she could rush home and still make it to ring in the new year together.
It did not matter to Mother Katz whether she would remain at home. It was a great opportunity anyway to see her daughter perform on a New Year countdown celebration, so she was pretty psyched.
Moreover, the venue of the celebration was in the capital. It was just a little over half an hourâs drive away.
If Lucy drove straight home after the performance, she would possibly make it in time.
Hence, Joel kept watch outside the performance venue on that night.
He would take Lucy home after she was done.
It snowed heavily on New Yearâs Eve.
The scene was quite a bustle over at the Foster Residence side.
Natalie was unhappy when she found out that Joel was not coming home to spend New Yearâs Eve together.
However, the thought of Joelâs character prompted her to let it go and leave him be.
It was not like she could pull the reins in on him anyway. Moreover, they would only get into a quarrel if he was back. Thus, she could not care less.
As for John, he was confused at the absence of Joel.
Swamped with work lately, he had not paid any attention to the situation at home.
John thought something had happened when he first heard that Joel was not coming home, but later he probed into it and found out that it was because of Lucy.
Although the other family members were unfamiliar with Lucy, John was no stranger to her, having figured out their relationship a while back.
He already knew Natalie would object but the extent of it caught him by surprise.
With that, Chloe came into his mind.
Natalie had met Chloe previously but this time, Chloe had a prior engagement so she was not able to join them today.

ï¤Chapter 487 The End Pt. 5 Chloe did not come from a better family background than Lucy yet Natalie never had an opinion of her.
Natalie went as far as to take pity on her due to her humble stock.
It was plain to see that his mother was not the kind that favored the rich and the powerful while looking down on the poor.
What was behind her refusal to accept Lucy with open arms?
With that in mind, he sent Joel a message.
Nonetheless, the situation would not get out of hand if Joel knew the answer.
In the end, the brothers had no choice but to drop it.
Over on the other side, New Yearâs Eve at the Leiths was rather lively.
With Little Viemond a year and a half years old, he was at a babbling stage.
He could also wobbly walk on his own.
