Chapter 827

Spoiled by the President

Gregory literally flew back to the chateau. He got back so fast that within half an hour of hearing the news, he was home.

In the medical chamber, Yuliana had finished the procedure of pumping her stomach and was temporarily out of danger.

After some tests, the results on the type of poison was out.

The outcome blew everyone out of the water.

When the doctor announced the results, Vickie was also there, wheeled over in a wheelchair by Leila.

She had not seen Gregory yet, and the two did not even make eye contact. They just stood there patiently awaiting the results.

All they saw was the doctor’s unsettled expression as he walked out of the room.

He spoke in a low voice, “The results are out. The poison was arsenic.”

What?

Arsenic?

Everyone was horrified.

Both Gregory and Vickie frowned.

The doctor quickly followed up by looking at Ginny who was standing to the side and asked, “By any chance, did Miss Lynch drink any white fungus and lotus seed soup?”

Ginny faltered but nodded. “Yes she did, I got it from the kitchen. Why?”

The doctor took out another report solemnly.

“The poison was in the bowl of soup. This is the toxicity results of the white fungus extracted from her stomach. You can take a look.”

Without waiting for Ginny to return to her senses, Gregory snatched the report out of the doctor’s hand.

His face darkened as he looked at it.

Andrea, who was standing behind Vickie suddenly had a thought and her face fell.

Ginny was still there, frantically trying to explain herself.

“How could that be? I personally got the soup from the kitchen and brought it to Miss Lynch’s room. She drank it soon after! There was no third party that handled the soup! How could it be poisoned?”

As she finished, Ginny turned to the kitchen maid, Reina, who was also called over.

“I know! It was you, wasn’t it? It had to be you who poisoned Miss Lynch!”

She screamed, turning everyone’s attention to Reina.

Ginny shrieked, “I knew it was you! You hated Miss Lynch for wrongly accusing you of stealing the bird’s nest yesterday so you decided to poison her to death today! How could you!”

Then, she almost pounced at Reina to fight her.

Nevertheless, there were so many people here, how could she get hit?

Gregory commanded with a cold voice, “Enough!”

Instantly, everyone blocked her path.

He turned to Reina and asked, “You made the soup, is that right?”

Reina was paralyzed with disbelief. Never in her wildest dreams did she think that something she made could have poison in it!

She waved her hands shakily and tried to explain, “I didn’t do it! Yes, I made the soup but I didn’t poison her! I may not like Miss Lynch but I still have my conscience you know. And she is Young Master’s esteemed guest, I would never dare lay hands on her!”

Upon hearing that, Ginny shrieked, “If it wasn’t you then who did it?! The only person who has both motive and opportunity here is you!”

Reina was frazzled. She never expected to be roped into something like this in her life.

If anything, the gods seemed to have forsaken her the past two days. First, she was framed for stealing the bird’s nest, then framed for murder via poison.

When it rains it really f*cking pours.

Suddenly her eyes shone as a thought came to mind.

“Ah! That’s right, the white fungus and lotus seed soup wasn’t even meant for Miss Lynch! If I really wanted to poison her, why wouldn’t I just put it in her lunch? To place it in the bowl of soup is just stupid. It’s as if I could’ve predicted if she wanted to drink it or not this morning.”

Everyone froze after hearing that. It did not seem like they understood.

At that moment, Andrea came forward.

She said solemnly, “I can vouch that the soup was not for Miss Lynch. I went to the kitchen early in the morning to request Reina to make the soup for Miss Thomas, to release the heat in her body. I didn’t expect that Ginny would come and snatch it from me.”

She paused and turned to look at Ginny blankly. “So if we’re talking about a killer, it shouldn’t be Reina, but instead the one who stole the bowl from me.”

Ginny was stupefied.

No one could have seen this coming.

Suddenly, she screamed, “Are you crazy?! Miss Lynch has been nothing but kind to me, why would I want to harm her?! What kind of bullsh*t are you spouting?!”

However, when she finished, a thought came to her. Ginny turned to look at Vickie.

“Wait... so that means, the poison wasn’t meant for Miss Lynch, but Miss Thomas?”

At that point, it had clicked for everyone else but to her, only then did she realize that hindsight was really 20/20.

Gregory’s face was darker than ever.

He looked at Ginny coldly for a split second before bellowing, “Harold!”

Harold walked out from behind and responded respectfully, “Yes, master.”

“Send someone to investigate this right now. Figure out who has been in the kitchen most recently and who has been in the kitchen today. Look through all of them with a fine-tooth comb. The culprit must be found, failure is not an option!”

Harold responded hastily, “Yes sir!”

Only then did everyone disperse.

With Mr. Osborne assisting Harold, they investigated every single maid and security guard in the chateau.

Vickie noticed everyone had scattered, and so Andrea pushed her to leave as well.

Since they were fairly certain that the poison was meant for her, Vickie and Andrea were the most innocent individuals in the whole fiasco.

With that, she sat in the wheelchair and headed to her room.

No one noticed that in the background was a pair of eyes that watched her with a dark and complex gaze.

Yuliana awoke sometime in the afternoon.

After getting poisoned and going through vigorous medical treatment, a once healthy-looking Yuliana now looked like she had contracted a terminal disease, looking as pale as a ghost.

She lay there and when she saw Ginny beside her, she asked weakly, “What... happened to me?”

The crying Ginny immediately shot up when she heard her voice.

In the next second, her eyes lit up.

“Miss Lynch, you’re awake!”

Yuliana was still disoriented.

It took some time for her to react. “What happened...?”

Ginny quickly relayed what had happened to her, not leaving out a single detail.

Upon hearing that, Yuliana fell silent.

Ginny sobbed. “You scared me to death, Miss Lynch. I thought I would never get to see you again.”

The corners of Yuliana’s lips curled up slightly. Right now, she was not some lofty lady high up in the clouds but more akin to a regular person on the streets.

She said softly, “You’re the only one who still cares about me in this place. Without you, who would care if I lived or died?”

Ginny was speechless.
