Chapter 42
Back to the Past: Breaking the Love Spell
So what if Kelly scored 1225?
Carlisle gave Hilda a few gentle pats on the back. âYou and Dad can breathe a sigh of relief now, canât
you?â
Gordon chuckled as he passed Carlisleâs transcript to Fletcher. He pretended to be confused and
asked, Mr. Moore, please take a look at this for me. My sonâs results are quite average, right?â
Fletcher received the score report in his hands and scanned through it.
He shuddered when he saw the score of 1400.
âA score of 1400? This⦠This is unbelievable!â
Fletcher stared at Carlisle in disbelief, Kelly had achieved high scores every year. Yet, she only got a
score of 1225. How was Carlisle able to score 1400 points?
âMr. Moore, everyoneâs waiting for you!â Gerard shouted from the window on the third floor of the hotel
opposite.
âOkay, Iâm coming!â Fletcher replied.
Hilda saw that her family members had arrived. She walked over proudly to welcome them. She puffed
her chest out and strutted with her head up high.
Fletcher fixed his eyes on Carlisle and questioned, âYou didnât fake this, did you, Carlisle?â
He couldnât believe that Carlisle could achieve such a score. So, he could only theorize that this
transcript.
was forged.
At that moment, Sarah approached him and said, âExcuse me, Sir. We watched the teacher give out
Carlisleâs score report. He didnât forge it!â
âYes, we can attest to that!â
âThatâs right. You shouldnât accuse others like that!â
âThere are quite a number of people who are like that. In short, they just canât bear to see others being
successful!â
Carlisleâs classmates exclaimed one after another.
Fletcher was at a loss for words. His hands were trembling as he held onto the transcript. He forced a
smile and returned it to Gordon.
âI misspoke earlier, Gordon. Please donât take it to heart!â
Upon saying that, he pulled out a 100 dollar bill from his other pants pocket. âThis is the congratulatory
money from me!
Initially, he had prepared the 100 dollars for Kelly.
But Carlisle had now gotten into Riverland University. He had a whole future ahead of him. So, he
needed to seize this opportunity to build a good relationship with them.
âWhat did you say earlier, Fletch? I donât remember it anymore.â
Gordon wasnât a petty person either. They were all from the same village and would come into contact
with each other whether they liked it or not.
Moreover, Fletcher was the head of the village. It wouldnât be good to have a falling out with him.
Fletcher laughed. He patted Carlisle on the shoulder and praised him.
âYouâre a good kid. I always knew you were an outstanding one. As expected, you didnât disappoint me.
Youâre making us at Helios Village proud of you!â
This was a period of time when those who lived in farm villages were very poor. Those who wanted to
go
from rags to riches had to put their hopes on those college students.
Right at that moment, Gordonâs PHS phone rang.
He took out his phone and answered it. The caller claimed to be a reporter from Riverland TV Station.
They wanted to interview Carlisle.
After getting Carlisleâs agreement, Gordon informed the caller of their location.
On the third floor of the hotel opposite the street, 15 tables were filled with guests. Everyone was
congratulating Gerard.
Gerard and Maria were smiling from ear to ear. As for Kelly, she was looking proud. After all, she was
the only college student in all of Helios Village.
âWhy isnât Fletch here yet?â
âHe went opposite to congratulate them!â
âHeâs the only one who believed that Carlisle qualified for college!â
âHe believed that Carlisle qualified for college? Iâd rather believe that pigs
ins will
fly!â
The snobbish villagers from Helios Village chattered with one another.
Maria whipped out a Blackberry and took a look at the time. Then, she urged Gerard, âWhy hasnât Mr.
Moore arrived?â
Gerard was also frowning. He then said, âKelly, go over and summon Mr. Moore!â
He knew that Fletcher liked to be lifted up on a pedestal. At the end of the day, he was the village head.
He had to show him respect.
âOkay Kelly nodded obediently before walking out of the hotel.
