Chapter 50
Back to the Past: Breaking the Love Spell
âHey, Carl. Youâre hurting me! Whatâs up with you?â Sean asked in a strained voice.
He realized that Carlisle was putting almost his entire body weight on his shoulders..
After that, he noticed that Carlisle was dripping with sweat, and his face had gone pale. Instantly,
Seanâs face tensed up. âWhat happened, Carl? Youâre scaring me!â
âLily is in danger. Quick, take her awayâ¦â Carlisle urged forcefully through gritted teeth.
Sean put his hand against Carlisleâs forehead and realized that he was running a slight temperature. In
a concerned voice, he exclaimed, âYouâre burning up. Why are you having a fever all of a sudden?
Youâre
even spewing nonsense!â
Carlisle glared at Sean and shouted, âQuickly goâ¦â
He was feeling weak all over at this moment. Otherwise, he would have run over personally.
âStay here then. Iâll go over now.â
Sean made sure that Carlisle could stand on his own before he trotted toward Lily.
Vroom vroom!
From afar, a motorcycle was coming toward them at high speed. There were two men riding on the
motorcycle with helmets on.
Sean noticed that the motorcycle was moving toward the lane nearer to the bus stop.
Was this a snatch theft?
Sean clenched his fists and dashed ahead.
The man riding pillion grabbed onto the backpack in Lilyâs arms.
âAhâ¦â
Before Lily could even respond, she was being dragged forward by a magnanimous force.
âGo to hellâ¦â
Sean leaped like a lion and pushed the motorcycle to the ground.
Due to inertia, the motorcycle was pushed over 20 meters away. The two men on the motorcycle had
fallen to the ground and were skidding ahead.
Sean fell to the ground hard. He got up from the ground and roared, âWeâre being mugged! Weâre being
mugged! Call the cops!â
Despite that, those passersby turned a deaf ear and kept their distance.
Sean was dumbfounded. What was wrong with these people? Why werenât they helping? Was there no
one brave enough to help the victim?
âMy school fees⦠My school feesâ¦â Lily cried as she ran toward the man who snatched her backpack.
At the same time, both men had gotten up from the ground, too. Each of them whipped out a well-
polished knife and walked toward Sean.
âGet back here, Lilyâ¦â Sean yelled.
Lily also noticed the knife in the robbersâ hands. She didnât dare to take another step forward.
Then, a cement mixer tryck honked and sped past them.
Sean rushed to the front of Lily. He put up a brave front and glared at the two robbers. He called out,
How pompous of you to rob someone in public. Arenât you afraid of the law?â
Before coming to Riverland, Rory had reminded him that this was a chaotic place. He advised him to
avoid going out on his own at night.
But he had never imagined it to be this chaotic.
Not only were these people trying to commit snatch theft, but they werenât even making an attempt to
escape right now. They seemed like they were wanting to take revenge on him.
This was the city area!
âTake the things and leave. Donât do anything rashâ¦â
Carlisle had gotten his hands on a fire extinguisher. He carried it and came to Seanâs side.
The two men with helmets were very burly. Their arms were thicker than Carlisleâs and Seanâs thighs.
They even had knives in their hands. If they really came at them, Carlisle and Sean would be the ones
at a
loss.
Lilyâs backpack probably contained school fees. These robbers were after money. It wasnât worth it for
them to get stabbed just for the sake of getting their money back.
The two burly men looked each other in the eye. They also spotted the flickering lights from a patrol car
not too far away. So, they gave up on their revenge and ran toward their motorcycle.
âMy school feesâ¦â Lily cried. Tears streamed down her cheeks.
Those were school fees that her grandfather had gathered after selling off his favorite cow. She was
now being robbed of it. How was she going to attend school?
Sean looked at the bystanders angrily. He chided, âAre you all heartless? Why didnât anyone step
forward to help when you all saw a woman being robbed? What is happening to the virtues of our
country?â
