Chapter 25
Winning Her Heart Back
Chapter 25 Getting Onto the Wrong Car
After the agreement was signed, Emelte grabbed the papere with one hand white helping Mona walk out of the room with the other. The latter was nearly unable to walk straight anymore.
Troy looked around in the hallway but didnât spot William anywhere. He scratched his head and asked Emelie, âAre you two alright?â
âYes. Thank you, Mr. Spencer,â Emelle said earnestly. Though she couldâve still drunk those last two shots, they would certainly have made her stomach feel incredibly upset, so Troyâs help was indeed timely
This was the first time Troy had been looked at so camnently by Emelia, no he felt somewhat shy. He grinned and said, âItâs no big deal. Just make sure you seriously consider working for me, yeah?â
Emelie assured him that she would.
After refusing Troyâs offer to drop her and Mona home, Emelle led Mona outside.
Troy returned to his room after feeling the satisfaction of being appreciated. When he spotted William
sitting back in his seat, Troy grumbled, âWhy did you shove me just now?â
William shot him a flat look.
Troy then chuckled, âBut itâs all good. I got to be the knight in shining armor. Ms. Hoven even thanked me
and said sheâd seriously consider working for me.â
Jayden glanced at William, already guessing what had happened.
A server walked over to William and said, âMr. Middleton, your driver has arrived.â
Emelie, and Mona were leaning against one another outside the Westward Club, waiting for their taxi. Suddenly, Mona burst into tears. âIâm so sorry, Emelle! Iâm so sorry for dragging you into this!â
âYes, it is your fault, so you better buy me dinner once you get your commission for this contract,â Emelie
said with a smile.
Mona obviously agreed to this.
Both of them felt terrible after having drunk so much. They were eager to go back home and rest. Mona asked with a pale face, âWhatâs the car plate of the taxi you booked, Emelie?â
Emelie checked her phone. â429.â
She then paused. Those numbersâ¦
Monaâs eyes widened suddenly, and she stumbled over. âHere it is!â
But Emelieâs phone said their taxi was still two miles away. She looked up just in time to see Mona opening the backseat door of a black Cayenne nearby.
Emelieâs eyes widened before she ran over in a hurry. âThatâs not our ride!â
But it was too late. They came face to face with the woman sitting in the backseat of the carâDaphne
This was Williamâs car
Emelie had realized their booked taxiâs car plate number was the same as Williamâs, only its alphabets were different. Who knew such a mixâup would happen?
âWhat are you doing?â William walked over, his cold voice ringing out from behind them.
Emelie immediately grabbed Mona and coughed awkwardly. âSorry, we mistook your car for another.â
William gazed at her, noting how flushed her cheeks were now that she was drunk, especially without
makeup.
Daphneâs eyes twinkled, and she suddenly suggested, âI didnât have a chance to talk to Emelie earlier. Since theyâre leaving, why donât we drop them home, Mr. Middleton?â
Emelie looked at Daphne, not trusting that the latter was doing this out of kindness. The way Daphne spoke sounded too firm. It was as if Daphne was trying to show Emelie that she was so special to William that he would permit anything she asked.
Emelie said lightly. âNo, thank you. Our taxi is about to arrive.â
Through her blurry vision, Mona recognized William and immediately deduced that the woman beside him must be Daphne and that she was the one who had framed Emelie. Already angry with them, the influence of alcohol only strengthened her resolve.
She sat right into the backseat of the car, saying, âSure. Thanks for the offer!â
Emelie quickly grabbed Mona. âOur ride is about to arrive.â
But Mona tugged at Emelie. âGet in! How could we forsake Mr. Middleton and Ms. Bowenâs kind gesture?â
William grew impatient with Mona and Emelieâs little argument. He snapped, âEither get in the car or get out. Donât waste my time.â
The instant Emelie stopped resisting, Mona dragged her into th
