Sixty four

“What happened?” I asked when he wouldn’t stop running his hand through his hair saying incoherent words. I did not answer the question. His behavior was beginning to irritate me.

“What the hell is wrong Lucian, you’re scaring me” I yelled getting off the bed to put my clothes back on.

When I did I turned to Lucian,

“We should start the day” I turned towards the door but he held me back.

“Don’t leave angrily Raina” He begged.

“You don’t get to ask that of me with the way you acted. What the hell happened. Did I do something wrong or I’m I not_” He stopped me from continuing my rant when he held my face in his palm.

“I’m sorry okay? But we can’t do this, we shouldn’t” I scoffed.

“Yeah” I said not in the mood to have another argument with him.

“Talk to me Raina” He begged. Did he just expect me to agree with his sudden weird behavior?

“No you talk to me. What happened?” I asked, this time more calmly and ready to understand him.

“I don’t want you to regret this Raina. I know you wouldn’t want a repeat of yesterday but do you really want to do this only to regret it when it’s over?” He asked.

“I will need a better excuse than that Lucian. I let the question of what really happened yesterday slide but I won’t let this slide” I told him walking out of the room.

I met with Lucy in the dinning. She hugged me and talked briefly about the event of yesterday.

“What do you think made it worse?” I was genuinely curious to know.

“I have no idea but since it was the fire I think coupled with your body being and heat and hot you were greatly aroused which led to the accident” Shit! My arousal caused this much problem. How I’m I supposed to stay not aroused when my annoying sexy mate won’t stop existing.

“If you’re not careful you will have another round” She teased. Embarrassed she had an idea of what I was thinking I looked away.

“Hey! Nothing to be embarrassed about. These men are annoyingly sexy all the time” She said.

“How did you know?” I did not need to explain further for her to understand my question. How did she know something happened this morning when she wasn’t even upstairs.

“Lucian forgot to block the pack from his mind link so we could all hear his thoughts until Jack told him” Now I am embarrassed. I really thought he was not attracted to me. Why did I even think that? He hasn’t showed me any sigh of him not being attracted to me.

“How did he take it?” Lucy asked.

“Bad considering the fact that I now know why he acted that way” I said.

“He’s obviously embarrassed. He doesn’t let anyone see him let his guards that much”

“What exactly did you guys hear” Lucy had a very suggestive grin on her face.

“Lucy!” I cautioned her.

“You don’t want to know them Rain, he really had the dirtiest thoughts of things to do to you” She was laughing.

“That’s enough Lucy!” Lucian’s angry voice boomed the whole room making even my wolf scared. Lucy immediately went quiet looking sad. Did he have to take it out on her? Jack who I had not noticed before walked from behind him and went straight to Lucy and pulled her into a hug whispering to her. Not happy with the situation I stood up and went to meet Lucian.

“Why did you talk to her like that?” I snapped at him.

“She crossed the line and disrespected her alpha” He said.

“She crossed the line and disrespected you? Are you serious? She let me know I wasn’t the reason you wouldn’t move further with me this morning” I was really angry with him.

“I didn’t know”

“How would you? All you care about is your big alpha ego!” Lucian didn’t say anything and I really didn’t want him to. I walked towards Lucy and Jack.

“I’m sorry” I apologized to Lucy.

“It’s fine. I should have known better too” I hated that she was now trying to blame herself. She did nothing wrong.

“You didn’t do anything wrong” I told her.

“I’m sorry Raina, I didn’t realize I made you feel a kind of way” I hadn’t even realized that he was standing behind me.

“You just expect everyone to follow your order and not question you? Get used to people not agreeing with you” I yelled at him.

“Geez Raina listen, you don’t understand how to dynamic works_” I didn’t let him finish because I knew exactly what he was about to say.

“I know. The alpha gives a command and even is beta can’t say otherwise. That’s not how team work works Lucian”

“That’s how it should be”

“Can you hear yourself?”

“Don’t insult me Raina, I won’t take that from you”

“What is your problem? Are you that embarrassed that you can’t let a joke from your friend slide?” I asked him.

“She’s my female beta and she has to respect me!”

“Shut_” Jack covered my mouth stopping me from saying anything.

“That’s his wolf Raina. You have to respect an alpha’s wolf no matter your relationship”

“Are you seriously defending him?”

“Not defending him just doing what is expected of me as the beta” H sounded frustrated so I kept quiet taking my eyes back to Lucian only to see him struggling with keep his teeth and paws his place.

“What is going on?” I asked when I successfully pushed Jack’s hand off my mouth.

“He needs to calm down”

“Did I do this?” I asked feeling guilty I got him this angry. In my defense he was being rude to Lucy and I did not like that. He has some things to learn. He can’t talk to us anyhow because he is alpha and expect us to forget because he is family. He said some things he shouldn’t have said.

“Yes now keep quiet” I shut up while we all waited for him to gain full control of himself.

The moment I knew Lucian was back I scolded him,

“You need to apologize for the things that you said”

“Not again” He snapped at me. Unbelievable! Before I could say anything,

“What did I miss?” Henrietta asked as she walked down the stairs. Lucian turned to her,

“Nothing. Why are you late?” He asked.

“Wow, what got you so angry now”

“I am not” He said the same time I said,

“I did” Ri looked between us and shrugged.

“I’m so sorry for being late” With that she sat down.

“I’ll get breakfast” Lucy offered standing up, Jack followed. After a few moments Ri followed to. Not understanding why everyone was leaving I stood up only to be pulled back down by Lucian.

“I do not appreciate you talking to me like that” He had a frown on his face.

“And I do not appreciate you talking to me like that either” Did he really expect me to just shut up?

“If you have a contradicting opinion you should say it to me privately”

“When it will no longer be useful?” Lucian did not reply to them.

“You can tell them to come back, I don’t have anything to say to you”

“I didn’t_”

“Don’t lie” I said so he did not talk. It was very obvious he told them to leave. Did he think I was that stupid?

Everybody came back to seat. Lucy had one of the dishes with her. I helped her serve everyone so we started our late breakfast. I was very hungry so I focused my attention on the food in front of me.

“We need to talk about what happened as a family” Lucian announced as soon as I finished my food. I looked round only to realize that I was the only who actually ate my food well.

“Oh now we are family, I thought_”

“Yes Lucian” All of them agreed with him. Really?

“First we need to keeps humans out of our business”

“Or you two can just finish what you started earlier and lessen the burden on us all” Lucian shot her a look and she kept quiet.

“We can’t force it” Was his excuse as he dismissed the idea. What great way to start the day.

“Yeah sure, you guys were really forced this morning” Not me thinking she was going to stop.

“We talked about this Ri, stop it please” I said quietly.

“Fine” She grumbled. Lucian continued talking about every issue we had to take care of.

“Lastly we have to discuss the BLEHEIM and how we are going to deal with it” A more serious issue we actually have at hand.

“We should_” Lucian started but I held his hand when I felt a sudden ache on the left side of my head.

“Are you okay?” Lucian was holding me against him.

“Yes. It was just_”

“Run Abigail” A young man with brown hair yelled at a young woman.

“I can’t leave you Angus!” The woman cried as a wolf had her lovers arm in its mouth.

“Go! Save our child!” The mention of the child seemed to make Abigail stand up and run towards the opposite direction.

I was still unable to see this woman’s face as her head was covered in a head cloth similar to that of jewish women in the old days.

“Sofia, take care of my child please” Abigail begged a woman I was unable to see. I did not understand why I could not see the woman. Her hands were the only visible part of her body I could see. It was like there was just something stopping me from seeing the woman.

“I will Abigail. Now fight for the were race and come back victorious” The voice said as she collected the baby. When Abigail did not say anything the lady I now know to be Sofia said,

“Why are you mute?” With fear laced in her voice.

“I love you and my baby girl so much”

“Why are you talking like this?” Sofia asked again.

“In other to keep this fight and you safe I cannot return. I want you to protect this child from the truth until your last breath. Whatever you do she must not know who I am or who she is” Abigail instructed. Sofia answered.

“I am not happy with this decision” She said.

“Neither I’m I but it must be done. I cannot survive it. Nobody does. Keep her with you always, that way she will never find her soulmate” Abigail instructed.

“Why are you doing this?” She asked.

“Why would you want this fight to continue after everything it is taking from us?” Sofia asked her sister.

“You will not understand my sister. I plead with you do as I say” Abigail said. Abigail and Sofia are sisters but where is this baby? Why I’m I the one getting the instructions to fight and not Abigail’s child. Why me?

“Make me understand, please. You owe me at least this much” Sofia pleaded.

“Move closer to me my sister and I shall tell you a big secret” As Sofia at the other end stepped out I was pulled out of the trance.

“What happened?” Lucian asked, concerned.

“I have no idea” I replied, What the hell was that and why did can’t I hear this big secret Abigail wants to tell to Sofia.

“Did you see something else?” Lucy asked. I nodded.

" Yes but I do not understand what is going on. I think I have a sister” I said to all of them.

“Impossible!” Henrietta said more like screamed in disbelief. Everybody turned to her with questioning looks.

“I mean do you really think you have a sister?” Ri asked.

“Of course no but we can’t dismiss the idea” I argued.

“You should. What if this is a distraction from what is ahead?” She asked. I sighed.

“That is correct. We should face what is ahead of us.” I agreed so did everybody else.

“We will have a proper meeting later during lunch, for now we all need to rest and get ready for anything” Lucian announced pulling me with him as he went up the stairs.
