Chapter seventy

“Ready?” Lucian whispered in my ear. I nodded after taking deep breaths.

“Yes” I replied. The five of us got into the car. Jack was driving while Lucy sat at the passengers sit with him. Lucian, Henrietta and I were at the back seat of the car. The car ride was nothing special. We were all quiet probably to give ourselves some sense of peace before the chaos presented itself to us.

“We’re here” Jack announced. I looked up away from my lap to see where we were.

INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT and very little below it was FOR THE SUPERNATURAL. A human would not be able to see this tiny writing so I knew immediately that majority of us will be supernatural beings and some humans maybe. I turned to me side when I felt the comfort of Lucian’s hand on my lap.

“We’ll be fine” He promised. I nodded agreeing with him.

“We’re going to be late” I quickly pushed Lucian’s hand away from my lap and got out of the car. Why did she scream like that? I was so shocked. Lucian was beside me in no time.

“Hey, don’t let her get to you” He said in my neck.

“I’ll try” I promised even though I knew she was getting to me. Why all the attitude and sudden hatred towards me?

“She’s been like that with everyone” I looked up and forced a smile at Lucy.

“Don’t take it to heart” Lucy said.

I have no idea how the humans operate their airports but I must say the airport is a place where power and specie is really important. As soon as we were spotted two young ladies and a young guy helped us with our luggage. An old looking woman helped us get on the plane and when I asked Lucian why we didn’t have to meet someone to confirm our identity he smiled and replied,

“It’s important to leave your mark everywhere you go” I didn’t fully understand him but it didn’t take a genius to understand that power was important in the supernatural world. I nodded as rested on his shoulder to rest my eyes and mind before getting to Greece.

“We are here” I groaned silently before sitting up.

“I slept all through?” I asked.

“Yes and you missed a very big fight” Lucy said from behind me. I frowned.

“Don’t worry I made sure to keep a video for you” She added again. This time I smiled.

“I have no idea why you brought the phone” We barely needed it, I didn’t even have one.

“Don’t pick a fight with me Rietta, you know I won’t hesitate to beat you to a plump” Lucy snapped handing the phone over to me. Lucian hold unto my waist as we walked down from the plane.

“What now?” Henrietta asked.

“I already got a car rented for our stay here. It should be here any minute” Jack answered.

“While we wait let’s get ice cream” Lucy said dragging Jack along with her.

“Do you care for?” Lucian asked me. I nodded absently with my head fixed low still watching the fight between the teenage witch and a vampire. Lucian just pulled my hand and Henrietta’s to join Jack and Lucy.

We all took one cone ice cream each while waiting for the car. Luckily for us the car got to us as soon as we were finishing the ice cream. Jack and the driver that brought the car talked In a foreign language before shaking hands.

“We’re good to go” He announced.

“Let me drive” Lucian offered.

“It’s fine. I can drive” Jack refused.

“As a friend?” Lucian asked.

“You bet your ass I’m going to let you” He laughed throwing the car key at Lucian who caught it. I switched seats with Lucy.

“We can have little fun while we’re here” Lucy said still in awe of the scenery of this beautiful place.

“And lag behind so our enemies kill us all”

“Why are you angry these days? Don’t let your mood reflect on everybody here” Lucy warned again. Ri didn’t say anything after that even when we all talked and made up funny scenarios.

“That was a long drive” Lucian said getting down from the car as soon as we got to the hotel.

“We needed somewhere closer to the forest” Jack explained.

“I understand. Let’s check in” Lucian said.

The five of us walking in sync on the same line really brought a lot of attention and loud whispers. It felt like everyone was staring at us.

“Ignore the looks. They are just curious” Jack said silently. I nodded, a new wave of confidence in me.

“Good day. We are booked under Randolfr” Jack said to the hotel receptionist who just stared at five of us.

“It will be nice if you do your job and not creep us out” Henrietta snapped. This is the first time her pissy attitude actually helped anyone because the receptionist immediately apologized as started her wotk.

“Yes. Three suites” She gave us the key cards.

“Our luggage is I the car” Lucian dropped the key on the table and we all walked upstairs where the suites were located.

“I’m hungry” I announced before anyone could walk into their rooms.

“Same” Everyone agreed with me.

“Get changed and we can go out to eat”

“Can’t we just get room service?” Ri asked.

“Yes but we can eat and see more of this beautiful city”

“You’ve been here a lot. What’s more to see?”

“You need to change this attitude of yours Henrietta, I won’t care you’re my sister if you disrespect me one more time” With that he pulled me inside the room and locked it.

“Don’t let her get you all worked up” I told me getting out of my clothes.

“I know but it’s really irritating” He groaned getting out of his shirt.

“We should clean up and eat” I walked inside the bathroom.

“I’m glad we chose to eat outside” I smiled at the beautiful couple with their young son. The woman’s hair in an afro with her curls perfectly defined. Her skin so perfect under the sun.

“What are you staring at” Lucian asked.

“That beautiful couple” I replied still looking. I knew people said it was rude to stare but I just could not help myself.

“The black one?”

“Yes. She’s really pretty”

“Hey guys the food is here” Lucy called. We turned back to the others and ate our food in silence.

After late lunch everyone made their way to their suites to rest for the real reason we were here.

“I’m happy I found you” Lucian said in my hair as we both laid down happy to be in each other’s arm feeling comforted.

“Me too. Thank you for saving me” We continued saying what we were both thankful for before we fell asleep.

The sudden urge to stand up from Lucian’s arm of protection grew each minute I laid awake. I closed my eyes tight to get myself back to sleep but I couldn’t sleep. Giving up on the fight I stood up careful not to wake Lucian up. I walked on my tiptoe out of the hotel suite out to the front of the hotel bare foot. I looked round not sure of the reason I was outside at night barefoot on the cool floor in my shorts and tank top. I stared at the sculpted animals that were on top of the building and around the hotel. I just noticed each animal carefully. The eagle and other birds before my eyes caught the big three sculpted dragons. I turned well so I was now face to face with this sculpted dragons. I could not keep my eyes off the dragon so I stayed on the spot staring into the eyes of this creature. Suddenly the once dead eyes turned red. A loud noise followed by the loud flap of the heavy wings. What?! How is this happening? Before I could register the whole scene in my head I saw one of the dragons fly towards me. I hurriedly bowed my head to avoid being hit.

“AAHHH’ I screamed loudly when I felt a slash in the skin of my shoulder. I fell to the floor instantly soaked in my own blood. I tried to reach Lucian through the mind link but I was too weak. I knew the wound was not healing because the pain hurt more as each second passed. I stayed still on the floor as tears fell my eyes, Is this how I’m going to die? I hadn’t even told Lucian I loved him yet. I haven’t had enough time to know Jack yet. I still don’t know what’s wrong with Henrietta and Lucy, oh Lucy. She doesn’t know how much I love her.

“RAINA!!!” I could not move to see who called me. The voice was faint in my ears. I could not even recognize the voice but I was glad someone found me.

“Oh goodness. What happened to you”

“I_” I could not finish my sentence. I felt someone carry me out of my own blood and tears.

I was already fully conscious but in serious pain.

“It’s not healing” Lucian sounded panicked.

“It won’t. It’s a dragon’s cut” Jack informed. This new piece of information scared me. If it doesn’t heal I could die.

“I’ll find something in one of my spell books. Don’t get scared” Lucy promised kissing my forehead as she left the room to hers to get her spell book. Lucian was sitting beside me holding me against himself.

“If anything happens to me I want you to_”

“You’re going to survive this. You can’t leave me” He said shutting me up. I closed my eyes tired. I couldn’t explain to any of them that I could feel life draining from my soul.

“I think I found something” Lucy rushed inside showing the spell book to Lucian.

“You know I don’t understand your books”

“Sorry” She giggled.

“I need your blood” She told Lucian.

“No, no” I protested.

“This is not the time to get stubborn” Lucian frowned at me.

“I’ll get the other item in a minute” With that Lucy ran out.

“Jack just told me” That was Henrietta walking in looking worried.

“I’ll be fine” I lied.

“It doesn’t look like it. Oh my goodness what happened”

“Don’t make her scared. She can’t see the wound” Lucian reprimanded.

“Sorry” Ri sat on the edge of the bed rubbing my ankle gently.

“Jack get me something I can drop this” Jack stood up and picked a sheet of paper. Lucy dropped something on it and dusted her hands. I couldn’t see.

“Lucian_ your hand” Lucian got away from me making me miss the warmth his body provided. I heard me winch in pain. I hate this so much.

“Can you sit up?” Lucy asked. I nodded trying to sit up but I could not.

“Let me help” Lucian ran to side and helped me sit up giving me clear view of his wrist that was still healing.

“Don’t worry about it. I can’t feel it” he said.

Lucy moved closer to me rubbing the item I can now see to be soil from the ground. She mixed the soil with Lucian’s blood before rubbing it around the cut on my left shoulder.

“О боже ведьм. Мои предки, я призываю вас. Пошли свои исцеляющие силы” Lucy repeated this three times before standing up.

“That should work” She assured.

“This is a bad sign. Should we leave for the pack now” Henrietta suggested.

“No. I will be fine. We stay” I insisted.

“If anything_” Ri started.

“Nothing is going to happen Ri” Lucian snapped. Cleaning the sweat on my head with the damp towel with him.

“You guys should go” Lucian said after few minutes of silence.

“Lucian_”

“Just go” Everyone left kisses on my head before leaving.

“Do you still feel pain?” He asked

“Yes. It’s not working” I told the truth.
