Chapter 730: 729 can be discharged

Wen Ran smiled lightly and said softly, “Let’s wait until Luo Haofeng comes tomorrow and see what he has to say. I’m tired, let’s go to sleep early. We’ll go back together tomorrow.”

Bai Xiaoxiao asked confusedly. She wondered whether they were going back to G City or returning to the countryside villa, considering she had already finished planting her flowers.

“We’re going to the countryside for fruit picking.”

Wen Ran gave her a gentle tsk, realizing Xiaoxiao wasn’t aware that Luo Haofeng’s mother had called Aunt Qiao.

Aunt Qiao didn’t want Xiaoxiao to know everything, so she only opposed her being with Luo Haofeng without explaining why.

When Bai Xiaoxiao heard about fruit picking, a smile spread across her face, “Sure, I’ll go fruit picking with you tomorrow.”

The next day, Luo Haofeng arrived at the hotel early in the morning. He looked fatigued, either he hadn’t slept or hadn’t had a good sleep the night before.

During breakfast, Wen Ran informed Luo Haofeng that she was planning to take Xiaoxiao away with her.

Luo Haofeng stayed silent for a moment without objecting. Instead, he looked apologetically at Bai Xiaoxiao and softly reminding her, “Take care on the road. Call me when you arrive, I’ll be back in G City in a few days.”

“Okay.”

Bai Xiaoxiao replied indifferently, keeping her head low while quietly having her breakfast.

Luo Haofeng didn’t say anything else.

The atmosphere at breakfast was a bit tense and cold. After they finished, Bai Xiaoxiao and Wen Ran left the city.

Upon reaching the countryside villa, Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao picked some fruits from others’ orchards. When they returned for lunch, Mother Bai called again.

This time, the call was for Bai Xiaoxiao.

In the conversation, Mother Bai didn’t mention a word about Xiaoxiao’s visit to Luo Haofeng’s house. She only asked Xiaoxiao when she planned to return.

Xiaoxiao answered with a laugh, in a few more days.

“Xiaoxiao, I’ve already asked your dad to give you a few more days off. Wen Ran hasn’t fully recovered yet. It would be better for her to recuperate there; you can take advantage of it too.”

Hearing her mother’s words, Xiaoxiao was surprised. She glanced at Wen Ran who was sitting next to her, peeling a grape. Upon seeing her look, Wen Ran smiled and fed the peeled grape to Xiaoxiao.

She brightly replied, “Mom, it doesn’t solely depend on me. I need to ask Ranran if she’s okay with me staying here for a few more days.”

When she heard Xiaoxiao say this, Wen Ran’s clear voice came through, “Aunt Qiao, rest assured. No matter how long Xiaoxiao stays, I won’t send her home.”

Upon hearing her voice, Mother Qiao’s heart finally settled.

After hanging up, Bai Xiaoxiao said gratefully, “Ranran, it’s a good thing I rushed back quickly, or else our cover would have been blown.”

“What do you mean by ‘cover blown’?”

Wen Ran feigned ignorance.

Bai Xiaoxiao raised an eyebrow and smiled, explaining, “Do you really think my mom suggested I stay a few extra days at your house out of kindness? She’s actually worried I’m not with you.

However, I’m smart enough to let you speak, proving that I’m with you and I haven’t run off.”

Wen Ran’s mouth twitched, “Being with me doesn’t mean you’re not with Luo Haofeng.”

“My mom wouldn’t think so much. As long as I’m with you, she’d be relieved.”

Bai Xiaoxiao looked content with herself, as if she knew everything her mother thought.

Wen Ran laughed and shook her head.

They stayed in the countryside for a week.

During that time, Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao enjoyed life contentedly. They visited all the nearby orchards.

The two acted like carefree country girls, disregarding their refined demeanor.

The air in the countryside was filled with the scent of fruit, which naturally elevated their spirits.

Ever since that day Wen Ran received two text messages from Mo Xiuchen.

She didn’t receive any more messages from him in the following days. But whenever she missed him, she looked at their old photos.

Instead of returning to G City, Luo Haofeng went directly back to City C for work.

Every day he called Xiaoxiao, who showed little interest in his calls. She hung up after only a few words.

One afternoon, after Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao again returned from picking fruits, Gu Kai called them.

“Ranran, you’ve been out for ten days, don’t you plan on coming back?”

Gu Kai asked over the phone.

Wen Ran chuckled, “Brother, do you miss me? I’ve only been playing for ten days; not even half a month and you’re urging me to come back.”

“If I don’t urge you, do you intend on not coming back at all? You brought Ah Mu back to G City and then just left him in the hospital. Ranran, Ah Mu’s mother is coming to see him tomorrow. You need to be home, it doesn’t look good if you’re not.”

“Ah, Aunt Qin is coming to see Qin Mu?”

Wen Ran paused, realizing guiltily that she had once again carelessly forgotten about Qin Mu.

“You heard correctly.”

“He can be discharged, if he would actually rest at home after.”

“Then let him stay for a while longer.”

Qin Mu wasn’t the type of person who would obediently rest at home. He wouldn’t be able to take care of himself once discharged.

Wen Ran did not expect to encounter a familiar face at the hospital entrance.

It was Zhou Lin, whom she hadn’t seen for a long time, holding her daughter in her arms as they exited the hospital.

Upon seeing them, Zhou Lin expressed surprise and delight, “Ranran.”

Wen Ran offered a gentle smile, her gaze drifting over to the baby girl in Zhou Lin’s embrace. She asked mildly, “Zhou Lin, what are you doing here? When did you get back?”

“I returned two days ago. My baby had a fever. I brought her here to see a doctor. Ranran, I heard from Gu Kai that you went to the countryside. Did you also just get back?”

Zhou Lin glanced at the bag in her hand and asked with a laugh.

Wen Ran nodded and took out a bag of fruits. “These are freshly picked from an orchard in the countryside. Much better and healthier than what you can buy in a supermarket. The fruit we chose were naturally ripe and free from wax or preservatives. It’s your lucky day. Take this bag home and give it a try.”

Seeing Wen Ran give the fruits to Zhou Lin, Bai Xiaoxiao frowns slightly in disapproval but stays silent.

She’s never liked Zhou Lin. Just now, Zhou Lin had only greeted Wen Ran, not daring to talk to her.

Zhou Lin looked overwhelmed and touched. She happily accepted the bag and thanked Wen Ran repeatedly.

Wen Ran smiled faintly, indicating that she wasn’t inclined to reminisce further, “Xiaoxiao and I need to find my brother. You should be on your way too.”

An instant of conflict flashed through Zhou Lin’s eyes. After hesitating for a while, she decided to ask, “Ranran, will you have time tomorrow?”
