Chapter 141
Hitched & Hitched Again: A Comedy of Marital Mayhem ( Elysia and Tarquin)
After leaving the hospital, Elysia went to find her friend Blossom. She had two things on her mind. First, she wanted to check on the kids at the preschool. It was their first day and she couldnât help but worry.
Second, she was still shaken up by the whole ordeal with Sarah.
Blossom was both shocked and outraged when Elysia explained what had happened.
âThat ungrateful snake! Winona was nothing but kind to Zaneâs cousin, and to think sheâd wish death upon her behind her back. And to top it off, sheâs got it out for you, too. Seriously, some people just donât appreciate a good thing when they have it. Thereâs a saying that fits perfectly here: âNo good deed goes unpunished.â I mean, sure, itâs sad she lost her child, but considering how she treated Winona, I hate to say it, but she had it coming!â
Elysia sighed, âWhat a peculiar person.â
âPeculiar? Thatâs putting it mildly. Sheâs heartless, thatâs what she is.â
âBlossom, did Winona really go off to shoot a movie?â Elysia asked, furrowing her brows with concern.
Even though Zane had explained everything, she still couldnât shake her unease.
âYeah, she talked to me about it before she left. And Zaneâs right, Winonaâs a celebrity. If anything had actually happened to her, weâd have heard about it by now. Itâs impossible to keep that kind of thing under wraps.â
Blossomâs certainty finally put Elysiaâs mind at ease.
Still, Blossom couldnât help but complain, âAnd Zane, dragging you into comforting Sarah when he knows you two arenât close. Heâs just adding to your stress.â
âLetâs not talk about them anymore. How are the kids doing?â
âTheyâre in their classroom. Look, theyâre having a blast.â
Blossom pulled up the classroomâs live feed for Elysia to see.
Elysia watched the three little ones playing joyfully and felt a smile spread across her face, âKids really do have the most fun with other kids.â
Blossom agreed, âAt their age, preschool is the right move. They might not learn much in the way of book smarts, but itâs good for their development.â
âYeah.â
Seeing that they were alone in the office, Elysia asked in a low voice, âThe kids still donât have their paperwork sorted. Can they still attend?â
âSure, private preschools are much more flexible with their requirements.â
Elysia breathed a sigh of relief, âAs long as they can attend, thatâs what matters.â
âHey, donât worry about your boys and school. Iâve got your back! If you want, they can come with me ay.â
âItâs great having a best friend whoâs a preschool teacher,â Elysia said with a laugh.
Blossom made a face, âProud of yourself, arenât you? My parents are beside themselves. Both of them prominent intellectuals, theyâd hoped for a postdoc, but got a preschool teacher instead.â
Elysia chuckled. This was the ongoing joke in Blossomâs family.
Two academic heavyweights had produced a daughter who was anything but. Blossomâs admission to Jindale University had been a special case; her grades alone wouldnât have cut it. The fact that she passed her teaching certification was a surprise to everyone. But Elysia genuinely admired Blossomâs parents for their parenting success. She believed that a childâs worth wasnât determined by a diploma.
Values, personality, and nature were what truly mattered.
Blossom was freeâspirited, endearing, and resilient. Never once did she look down on others because of her parentsâ status, nor did she feel inferior because of her academic struggles. She had strong moral principles, a kind heart, and clear-cut likes and dislikes. She didnât waste time wallowing in selfâ
pity. She was simply herself, living a simple and happy life.
Elysia thought to herself, only after having children do you understand what itâs like to be a parent. The best thing isnât how accomplished they are, but that theyâre healthy and have good natures.
