Chapter 3 ~I could live on pancakes

Today is my brother’s big day. In a few hours, he will be Alpha Alexander Sterling. I am so happy for him! But I am sad, too. My other brother and baby sisters are leaving with Momma and Daddy. They are going to travel a few years.. before their coronation. I get it.. I really do. But I am going to miss them so much!

If I don’t meet my mate tonight, I have told myself it will be fine! I start at the art institute in late August, and I am really excited about it! Momma comes in the room.. holding my dress. She hugs me tight and tells me “I am so proud of you. I always want you to hold your head high! Take pride in who you are! You are the future queen of the werewolf kingdom! And your pure, sweet heart shines through everything you do!” My eyes tear up “Thank you, Momma! I love you and Daddy so much! I’m going to miss all of you, so much!” And she laughs “We will FaceTime..every single day! And you can meet us..wherever we are..when you need a little time away!”

I am seated with Aunt Helena and Uncle Max. We have the twins on our laps. Alexander looks so handsome.. he smiles down at me and winks.. I give him a thumbs up. Daddy recites the Alpha oath.. they clench blooded palms.. and everywhere across the packlands, we feel the power shift. The same thing happens with Baron.. then again with Corey. My tears are flowing freely.. the pride I have for my guys is overwhelming!

The night progresses.. we have danced and laughed and had so much fun! I stepped outside onto the veranda.. enjoying the summer breeze on my skin. I watch a guy step outside.. he walks over to me “Hi! I don’t think we’ve been introduced I’m “ and I interrupt him “Alpha Troy Calhoun.. yes.. I know “ he’s a player.. known to every she-wolf on earth “He says “Are you a bank?” And I finish “cause I have your interest?” He laughs.. then replies “Heard that one.. what about Are you a parking ticket?” Shaking my head “Because I got FINE written all over me? Listen.. I applaud the effort.. but you are wasting your time.. I’m not the one.” I walked back inside to find my brother.

I was dancing with Corey and kept feeling eyes on me.. I glanced around and spotted Alpha Calhoun watching me intently and it was seriously creeping me out. I told Corey about it..and he promised to keep an eye out. Baron joined us and the three of us danced awhile.. but the creepy feeling didn’t leave. It was terribly unnerving so I went to speak to Alex.. after I told him about Alpha Troy, he said he understood if I wanted to call it a night. And I readily agreed..

The next day, I was working on a new sculpture.. it would be a pair of wolves.. one dark.. one white.. in a yin yang type of position. I get lost in my work.. Time flies and before I know it.. it’s time for my parents to leave and we are all standing out front to say goodbye. There was hugs…and tears and laughs.. then they were gone. Alexander wrapped me up in his arms and we just stood there.. for the longest time.. long after their taillights had faded. He murmurs “It’s just you and me kid!” And I giggle..saying “yeah! What trouble can we get into?” He puffs out his chest and says in a really deep voice “I am Alpha now! I can’t play childish pranks!” And I giggle louder “Daddy?” He grins great big..nodding and takes off at a jog.. but not before he zapped me with a bolt of energy! I chase him and shoot him into the air before he could get away!

Our days ran together..Alexander settled in to being Alpha.. and Jaxson and Corey took to their jobs like pros! I was only ten days away from starting school..my submission piece was sent in.. evaluated and graded.. the school were placing me on third tier..meaning my degree in fine arts will be mine in nine months! They told me I had a rare talent and needed very little instruction. I can live with that!

I walked into Alex’s office and slumped in a chair.. “I’m boreddd!” And Jaxson asked “why can’t you hear a pterodactyl go to the bathroom?” I shrugged …He says “because the “P” is silent” .. we all groaned. Then we laughed. Started sharing stupid jokes. But Jaxson is the King of bad dad jokes! So he won.. and got to choose what we did later.

We all went to the Pub.. it’s a cute little bar in Woodland Falls.. not far from Debbie’s Diner. I was dancing with Baron and a man tapped his shoulder asking to cut in .. I looked up and shook my head.. I tried to be polite.. I looked at Troy and said “I don’t want to gove you the wrong impression.. I only dance with my brothers. I am waiting for my mate.. and it wouldn’t be fair to feel like I was leading anyone on.” And he snapped..like apeshit crazy snapped. He snarled “I asked for a dance, bitch! I wasn’t planning on fucking you on the dance floor! You flatter yourself too much! I was trying to be nice! Your mate doesn’t even want you! You little prude!” And he stomped away. I started laughing “How does he have women falling at his feet?” Baron laughs “ He’s a hit it and quit it kind of a guy…and I giggle “a hump and dump?” Nodding and laughing “a churn and burn”… AhHa I get it..”an ejaculate and evacuate!” We walked over to the guys and Alex said “Let’s go. Trouble’s brewing and I don’t want to kill another Alpha tonight” while Baron groans out “Noooo… I don’t wanna do the paperwork that requires!” Causing us all to laugh!

We stopped at Debbie’s for pancakes before we went home. I love them from here! It’s Uncle Max’s famous recipe! I could live on pancakes!
