Chapter 29

twenty-eight

Against all odds - Minsung [✔]

The next morning, Jisung stayed in his room, sitting down and sulking on his bed, thinking about the argument he had with Minho yesterday. He seemed genuinely concerned for him - and he felt guilty for being such an insensitive asshole.

He was wondering how he could make it up to Minho, when he suddenly felt something rubbing against his leg. It was the demonic cat which belonged to Minho.

He observed the creature with wide eyes, tiny particles of light floating within its translucent body. Reluctantly, he reached his hand out and touched it with his fingertips.

He ended up moping around in his bedroom for the next few hours, not finding the courage to go out and face Minho. He was embarrassed to be around him, knowing that he was the one who started their conflict in the first place.

Reaching for his smartphone, he unlocked it to see several texts from his publishing company, forcing him to finish his current book, but he couldn't give a damn about it.

He skimmed over all his messages and saw one from Hyunjin, a slight smile blossoming on his face as he read it. Hyunjin stated in his message that he had something really important to tell Jisung.

Filled with curiosity, he responded and agreed to meet up with Hyunjin. He got up from bed, his steps filled with purpose as he walked to his wardrobe.

Half an hour later, he said goodbye to his little demonic friend and tiptoed to the door, not seeing Minho anywhere. It was a bit unusual but he shrugged it off.

Before he left the house, he looked around hesitantly. He didn't want to make Minho worry about him again if he finds out that he left the house without telling him.

"Minho?" He called out, but silence filled the place. He figured that maybe Minho went in his 'void' again, just like what he usually does when he's upset and needs some time alone.

He searched for a piece of paper, and when he found one - he wrote a note for Minho. [I'll be out for a while. I'll be meeting up with Hyunjin again. I'm sorry. But I'll be back soon, don't worry.]

Jisung hummed a happy tune as he got away from his house. Being outside was actually quite fun. He hurried to the subway stop, taking the next train to the city center when he arrived.

Time passed quickly and when he reached his stop, he left the train with countless other people. He felt like someone was watching him, but when he turned around, nobody was paying attention to him. "Strange," he thought to himself.

He entered a quieter street where he was supposed to meet with Hyunjin. The place was a bit eerie. The shops he passed by were already closed and the area was deserted compared to the other areas in the city.

He should've probably taken that as a warning sign, but he shoved his negative thoughts away when he spotted Hyunjin leaning against a building wall, looking up from his phone when he heard Jisung approach.

To be continued...

I'm sleepy
