Chapter 84

eighty-two

Against all odds - Minsung [✔]

The blood mage hadn't needed long to locate them thanks to Jeongin's help. He had found their address fairly quickly.

The sky was turning dark as the sun set. Streetlamps illuminated the quiet neighborhood.

He walked closer to the house, feeling traces of light magic in the air.

Since he knew that he would alert them both to his presence if he came too close, he stayed at a distance and observed from afar.

This way, none of them would sense any danger. They'd be oblivious to him stalking them, and that would allow him to strike when they least expected it.

He planned on using their biggest weakness against them and he was sure to win.

Minho and Jisung were early when they arrived at the nightclub. The Halloween party that took place tonight had drawn in lots of people who dressed up more or less fittingly to the occasion.

The club was a popular place and getting tickets had been difficult, but Chan had luckily saved two for them. However, he was going to come a bit later and bring the other demons with him.

The nightclub consisted of several large halls. One of them contained a bar and seating areas where Minho and Jisung planned to get drinks to start off the night.

The furniture, walls, and floors were completely black and illuminated by ruby lights on the ceiling. Halloween decorations covered the tables and the bar itself.

Jisung excitedly led Minho to one of the tables at the side of the hall where they would be a bit farther away from the other people. They sat down and Jisung smirked slyly.

"Minho, would you please do me a favor?" He asked, voice sounding as sweet as honey.

The demon sighed deeply. "Tell me what it is," he grumbled.

"Can you get us something to drink at the bar, please?" He asked, batting up his lashes at Minho and giving the sweetest smile he could ever muster.

"Why?" He whined. "I don't want to stand up."

"I said please," Jisung reminded him.

"Yeah, so what?"

"Uhg, you are one stubborn demon," he muttered. "Okay, so how about this—if you get drinks for us, then I'll be the one on the receiving end tonight. Sounds good?"

Minho paused after hearing that and looked as if he was contemplating it, but he grinned smugly after a short while. "Deal," he replied. "What kind of drink do you want?"

"I don't know, surprise me," he said. Minho got up and walked towards the bar, dodging several drunk humans along the way.

Jisung leaned back and let his eyes move over the crowd as he waited for Minho to return. It seemed that some low-class demons were present among the humans, and he also saw some ghosts.

But other than those, he spotted no supernatural beings which could be a possible threat. Perhaps they just hated Halloween in general and stayed away.

When he noticed someone walking up to him, he turned his head only to come face to face with a stranger. He assumed that the woman must've mistaken him for someone else, but she didn't move away.

"Are you here alone?" She asked, smirking confidently. She was human, and apparently the obnoxious type of person. Just great.

"No," he said repellently, keeping his eyes fixed on the wall beside him. He figured that if he'd not give this woman some attention, she'd leave immediately. But that wasn't the case, however.

"It looks that way. I could keep you company," she said persistently and inched closer, making Jisung snap his head around abruptly. Icily glaring at her, he swatted her hand away when she tried to touch him.

"No, thank you. I advise you to leave before you piss off my boyfriend," he warned her. "He tends to be violent with people like you."

The woman hissed at him and decided not to stick around for longer, walking away and vanishing into the crowd. Jisung annoyedly clicked his tongue. He really despised people like that.
