Chapter 31

☾ 31: Dream Turned Reality ☾

Azure

Katherine's POV

"So, just how exactly were you able to fight them all off?" Cassy asked.

"I've had experience considering this is far from the first time I've fought. You should know that there are more of them out there trying to kill you though."

Ever since the news spread about her existence many have been outraged. This was the fourth group I'd saved her from. Of course, she doesn't know that.

"Wait. Then that means you're risking your life knowing you can get killed, for me?" She questioned further.

I assumed she'd be more concerned about the fact that more people wanted her dead.

"Correct." I smiled.

"Why are you risking your life for me?" She spoke softly.

"Let's just say that if it weren't for you I probably wouldn't even be here."

It's quite insane how much she unknowingly changed my life for the better.

"That's not a good enough reason to be putting your life at risk." She folded her arms seemingly angry, yet I couldn't get over how adorable she looked.

"If something were to happen to you because of me..."

I bit my lip to prevent myself from smiling. I rested my arm on the couch as I held my head in my hand, noting her gaze travel my body due to my actions.

"Nothing's going to happen to me. My past is something I'm not proud of and only ever stopped because I met you... Well sort of met you. Therefore, I owe you everything I have to offer."

"What do you mean?"

"The less you know the better," I smirked.

She rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Come on wh-."

I wasn't ready to tell her my story and with the way she looked right now, I couldn't stop myself from changing the subject.

"Oh just shut up and kiss me," I said as I pulled her face to mine.

I noticed that I am very gifted at making her speechless. I could hear her heart beating rapidly as our lips met. She was absolutely perfect. I reveled in her soft lips as I brushed my thumbs along her jaw.

I had longed to kiss her for a while but the temptation not only grew as I began to know her but when she led me into her dream.

I was half expecting her to push me away, but I was surprised when her hands clung to my shirt pulling me closer to her.

In the heat of the moment, I slowly began to push her down onto the couch. I moved one of my hands beside her head to elevate myself.

It seemed as though the room was on fire and it was a scorching heat I never wanted to leave.

Casey's hands began to roam from my waist, beneath my shirt, and along my stomach. I pulled away from her lips taking her bottom lip between my teeth before turning my attention to her neck.

As I trailed kisses and bites down along her neck and to her collarbone she let out the most sultry moan I have ever heard. That sound alone nearly made me feral.

I knew I should have stopped but between her hands underneath my shirt and her leg now torturously rising, my mind was frozen in this euphoric haze.

I returned to her lips, letting my free hand travel to her waist and play with the hem of her jeans.

"God... What are you doing to me?..." She asked through the kiss.

"I could say the same thing to you..." I smirked which caused her to bite her lip.

I immediately claimed her lips once more at the sight.

"Always know... There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you." I said softly as I gazed into her eyes.

"Kath-."

"You can call me Kat." I interrupted.

"Is that so?" She smiled mischievously as she swapped our positions and leaned in for another kiss.

I couldn't help but release a moan of my own at the sudden change. This caused Cassy to smirk into the kiss.

"Oh shit... This is awkward... and unexpected..."

Cassy and I turned towards the doorway seeing Mason and Laine standing there. Laine looked as if she'd seen a ghost.

I could tell Cassy remembered the position she was in as she sat up quickly, moved away from me, and ran her fingers through her hair.

"What is that doing here?" I asked refusing to move from my position as I pointed at Laine.

"Hey, be nice," Cassy said, softly hitting my leg.

"I'm just saying considering she's a walking beverage in a world full of vampires it's not the smartest idea." I rolled my eyes at Mason. "But it's so nice of you to bring us a drink."

He stepped closer to Laine as she grabbed his arm worriedly. "Shut up Katherine! She's safe with me. No one's going to touch her."

I could only laugh in response.

"She's right. A human shouldn't be in this world unless you want her drained or killed."

We all looked towards the stairs and saw Cassy's dad and Lance.

"She wouldn't let me come here without her." Mason reasoned.

"You're a werewolf, not her puppy. I wouldn't expect you to be so easily bent by a human hand. " Hank said.

I struggled to hold in my laugh.

"Dad..." Cassy glared at him in warning.

"Sweetie, why don't you and Katherine head up to your room? Lance, I assume you can show yourself out."

Cassy slowly nodded.

I was the first to head up the stairs. When I was halfway up I looked back as Cassy walked passed Laine. Their arms brushed and I saw Cassy stiffen in response.

I clenched my jaw trying to suppress the urge to rip someone's throat out. That's not me anymore. No more lashing out especially through acts of jealousy when I have no right.

"Are you okay?" Cassy asked as she eyed me with concern.

"Yeah, why?" I asked.

"You're kind of breaking the rail." She lightly laughed.

I looked down at my hand and saw the wood cracking under my grip.

"Right." I loosened my grip and wiped the crumbs of wood off.

"I'm fine," I repeated as looked up at her with a smile.

I felt something soft graze my fingers so I looked down once more. Cassy's fingers were shyly locked with mine.

"Let's go." She said as she led me up the stairs.

As soon as we got to her room we both sat down on her bed and started to listen in on the conversation downstairs.

"What do you mean? She's only been here for two days." Hank said.

"I know but Molly says the sooner she goes the better it will be for her," Mason stated.

Hank sighed. "I guess I can't be too greedy but at least give her the rest of the day. Then she's all yours."

That was all I needed to hear to know my presence is no longer needed. I got up and grabbed my jacket that was laying on Cassy's bed.

"Hey, what are you doing?" She asked.

"I have other business to attend to now that you're leaving. Mason can watch over you... Or at least stall the bad guys long enough to give you time to run." I shrugged as I pulled my hair out of my jacket.

"Wait, you're not coming?" She stood up to meet me.

"Me? Go into the werewolf world? Do you want me to get killed?" I scoffed.

Cassy rolled her eyes. "Oh, please. You proved to me today that you could kick all their asses if you wanted to."

I smiled. "Perhaps. Still, as I said I have to attend to things. You'll be fine though." I said as I tucked strands of her hair behind her ear.

"If you need me at any time just call my name and I'll be there in a heartbeat." I continued as I kissed her forehead and left before she could say any more.
