Chapter 379
Even After Death
Olivia could imagine how much the Fordhams loved Quinn. She was also amazed at how rich they
were.
She couldnât imagine just grabbing a billion dollars and running away.
âSo she never contacted you?â
âNo. She blocked us before she left. We couldnât contact her at all.â
âWhat about the money? Sheâll have to spend some money at least, right? Canât you figure out where
she is based on the sources of her expenditure?â
Avery shook his head. âI wish we could. Two months ago, she caused quite a lot of damage to the
house. When she left, the whole family was cleaning up after her.
âWe feared that she would do something even worse if we cornered her. So, we decided to let her
leave for now.
âWe hoped that she would choose to come home after realizing how dark things could be
outside.
âBut we didnât expect her to hide her traces. She also began laundering the money quickly. She
transferred the billion dollars out of her account.
âWhen we realized that something was wrong, she had already arrived in Aldenvine. Her account was
empty, so we couldnât locate her based on her expenditure.â
The more Olivia heard, the more suspicious it sounded to her. âMr. Fordham, this doesnât sound like
eloping. It feels more like it was planned ahead of time.
âIf they could launder the money in such a short time, they must have a professional team behind the
scenes. They could even avoid getting tracked by your family. Do you think Ms. Fordham was
scammed?â
Avery agreed. âWe thought the same as well. We went to look for the manâs family, but we realized that
his nationality and identity were all faked. No one knew who he truly was.
âMy family has been searching for a whole month. I especially came to Aldenvine because she said
that she loved this country and wanted to live here.
âIâve been here for a week, but I havenât heard any news about her.â
Avery sighed heavily. âWeâre all very anxious these days. We just want to find Quinn as soon as
possible. That childâ¦â
The phone on the desk started vibrating. Giving Olivia an apologetic look, he answered the call.
âHello.â His voice was gentle.
A charming female voice sounded from the other end of the line. âHave you found Quinn, Avery?â
Avery answered honestly, âI havenât gotten any news so far.â
âShe might have left Aldenvine already. Take care, Avery. Donât miss your dialysis
appointment. Youâre all alone outside, and Iâm worried about you.â
âSilly child, Iâm fine. Just stay home and take good care of Dad and Mom. Iâll bring Quinn back.
âOkay. Then I wonât bother you anymore, Avery.â
The call ended. Avery said, âThat was the sixth child of our family, Sia. Unlike Quinn, sheâs gentle and
obedient.â
Olivia noticed the tenderness in his gaze. She couldnât help but exclaim, âYou have quite the lively
family, Mr. Fordham.â
âYes, my parents have always been close to each other. After Sia was born, my motherâs health
declined. It was only then that she stopped giving birth.â
Avery remembered what he read from Oliviaâs documents. Her parents divorced early on, and she had
been living in a single-parent household all this while.
Her father got into an accident two years ago, and she got divorced six months ago. He could see that
her life was quite tough as well.
âWould you like something more to eat?â Avery asked gently.
Olivia shook her head. âItâs okay, Iâm quite full. Thank you, Mr. Fordham.â
Thinking of something, Olivia returned to the topic.
âMr. Fordham, can I ask a few more questions about Toxic Hive? I heard that they did a lot of
experiments in various countries, and they hurt a lot of people. Is that true?â
Avery took a sip of the lemonade. âYes, but no one probably told you about Toxic Hiveâs previous form.â
Olivia was a little surprised. âToxic Hiveâs previous form?â
Avery touched the glass in his hand. There was a deep look in his eyes, which Olivia couldnât
understand. âEverything in this world has two sides. Nothing is entirely good, nor is there anything
wholly bad.â
