Chapter 405
Even After Death
Ethan clearly sensed Oliviaâs aloof attitude.
Had it been before, he wouldâve forcefully taken her home.
However, he couldnât bring himself to give her the cold shoulder now after what had happened-let alone
say hurtful words.
Guilt was devouring him.
âLiv, I know that many things have happened, and youâre upset about them. Donât worry, your father as
soon as possible. Heâll be fine.â
Iâll save
Olivia, who was facing her back at him, coldly responded, âWhatâs the use of that? If we canât find the
mastermind, Dad might be harmed once more even after we save him. You promised to give me an
answer to everything. When are you going to do that?â
He wouldâve been able to answer that question with confidence in the past, but not now.
How could he tell Olivia that the culprit was his very own sister?
That was his biological sister, whom he had wrapped up in cotton wool since childhood.
Ethan had searched for Leia for a long time. It was a tough journey before they reunited.
He would give Olivia an answer to everything, but that would be at least after he got to the bottom of
everything.
Licking his chapped lips, he said in a low voice, âLiv, this matter ainât as simple as you think. Since Iâve
promised you an answer to everything, Iâll find out the truth slowly. Just relax and get some rest at
home.â
She let out a self-mocking smirk. âIâll keep my mother company these few days. I wonât go anywhere
else.â
Her firm stance left him with no choice. He had a lot of things to settle, so he couldnât stay at the
hospital with her.
He signed helplessly. Both of them were not in the state of mind to continue this discussion further.
âYou can stay. Iâll ask Kelvin to stay as well. He can help you out if anything happens.â
Ethan was keeping an eye on her under the name of protection.
âFine.â Olivia didnât want to waste her time exposing him.
Sensing that she didnât want to speak to him, he excused himself and left the place. âI have to handle
some matters. Iâll see you later. Iâll inform Kelvin to handle your meals. Donât push yourself too hard.â
It had been a long time since Ethan last treated Olivia so gently.
Unfortunately, his gentle acts gave her more reasons to resent him now.
Needless to say, it wasnât the time to turn against him.
After all, she was the only person in the Fordham family. If she provoked him, he might confine her
for real.
There were a lot of things she needed to do. Therefore, she must take advantage of the free time given
by the guilty man.
Ethan could vaguely notice that Olivia was in low spirits, and he blamed it on the matters that had
happened recently. It was natural for her to be upset over them.
Furthermore, he was too busy and didnât have time to spare.
He hopped into the car with hurried steps. Once inside, he reclined in the back seat exhaustedly.
Seeing him raise his head, Brent asked, âHowâs Mrs. Miller doing?â
âSheâs in low spirits. Ms. Parker doesnât have much time left.â Ethan kneaded his eyebrows. âKeep an
eye on Avery. Donât let him come close to Liv.â
Although Olivia and Ethan were divorced, someone might still set her up.
âDonât worry, Mr. Miller. Iâve found out that Avery will be returning to his country tomorrow. He wonât be
able to meet her. He mustâve done that yesterday to repay her favor for saving him.â
âDonât forget that heâs still single.â Ethan was alert.
It pained Brent to see those dark circles beneath Ethanâs eyes.
Brent turned the steering wheel and glanced at him through the rearview mirror.
Brent couldnât help but ask, âAre you really not going to tell Mrs. Miller about Ms. Miller?â
