Chapter 440
Even After Death
If Everly were the one saying those things, she would look like she was spouting nonsense. It would all
sound like lies.
But when Olivia was the one saying it, it rang truer than solid cash.
She had the air of a noble and elegant young lady. She looked like she came from a respected family,
which was a far cry from the talkative Everly.
Everly gave her good friend a thumbs up in her heart. She had to give it to Olivia, who had painted a
good image of her in front of her boss right away.
âYouâre too kind, Ms. Fordham. I heard Hilton mention about you as well. As expected, seeing is
believing.
âMs. Fordham, youâre such a noble character. Itâs hard to imagine someone as brash as Hilton would
be friends with you.â
Everly glared at him. She didnât mind if he praised Olivia, but she would have none of his insults.
Walking up to Olivia, the man extended his hand.
âMy name is Henry Synder. Nice to meet you.â
He had extended his right hand. Olivia glanced at him, feeling a little troubled.
âIâm sorry, Mr. Synder. Believe me, I want to, but I canât.â
Henryâs gaze fell upon her lowered palm. A look of shock flashed across his eyes.
He probably didnât expect a pretty and elegant woman to have problems with her right hand.
He quickly switched hands, then shook Oliviaâs hand a little before letting go.
Olivia didnât feel inferior at all. Staring at him with a clear gaze, she said, âEve is a hardworking person
who can endure hardship. Sheâs also a very orderly woman,
âIf you value her greatly, Mr. Synder, you wonât be disappointed.â
Since Olivia had put it like that, it wouldnât do for Henry to say the opposite.
Henry had no choice but to play along. âItâs true; Ms. Hilton is a patient and responsible assistant.â
âGreat. Eve, I wonât bother you anymore. Maybe Mr. Synder has something to talk to you about. Iâll be
leaving now.â
Everly looked at Olivia worriedly. âBe careful on your way home.â
âOkay. You donât have to see me off.â
Nodding at Henry, Olivia said, âGoodbye.â
âTake care, Ms. Fordham.â
Everly was so shocked that her eyeballs threatened to fall out of the sockets. She had never seen
Henry being so gentlemanly before.
âMy best friend is pretty, right?â
âYes. Sheâs prettier than you. And gentler, too.â
Everly widened her eyes. She was beginning to suspect that he wasnât here to visit her; he was here to
piss her off instead.
Seeing her furious expression, Henry chuckled. âAlright, to be honest, I knew her.â
âHuh?â
Henry dropped a hint. âShe is someoneâs sweetheart.â
Everly instantly sensed some gossip waiting to be revealed. She nudged Henry with her elbow. âWho is
it? Do I know him?â
From the corner of her eye, she spotted the folic acid Olivia forgot to take with her. Everlyâs expression
changed as she grabbed the two boxes of folic acid.
âHold on, Mr. Synder. Iâll be right back.â With that, she dashed outside.
Rubbing his chin, Henry had an intrigued look in his eyes.
He dialed a number. Soon, a familiar male voice sounded from the other end of the line. It sounded
exhausted.
âWhatâs the matter, you workaholic?â
âCanât I contact you even if nothing is going on? Guess who I saw at the hospital today.â
âMy wife.â
Henry chuckled. âThatâs right. But Iâm curious. Why would the woman of your life have a broken hand?
Who did it?â
The other end of the line was silent for a long while. âI did it.â
Henry stopped smiling. âAre you crazy?â
âIt was an accident.â
âMakes sense. You canât possibly hurt her on purpose. Still, arenât we friends enough? You didnât even
tell us about the good news.â
Ethan widened his eyes. âWhat good news?â
âAre you still pretending that you donât know? Sheâs pregnant again, right?â
