Chapter 502
Even After Death
Calistaâs words were the straw that broke the camelâs back. Jeff was trembling, feeling like someone
had pushed him from behind.
He felt the blood rushing to his head, and a wave of dizziness overtook him as he staggered to remain
on his feet.
Calista was frightened. âHey, whatâs wrong with you? Stop pretending to be sick. It still wonât change
anything. Whereâs security? Get this man out of here.â
Marina glared at Calista. Before she could say anything, Ethan had rushed over. He supported Jeff and
said, âDad, how are you feeling? Brent, bring Dad to the hospital now.â
Jeff turned to look at Ethan. His eyes turned red from anger when he saw Ethan in his wedding suit.
In his anger, Jeff couldnât even utter a complete sentence. âY-You caused the F-Fordham family to go
bankrupt?â
He never imagined that the son-in-law he approved of would be the one who ruined his family. Even
though what happened back then was fishy, he never suspected Ethan. He just thought it was a
business partner that he had crossed.
Frowning, Ethan said, âIâll explain everything later, Dad. Iâll have someone send you home first.â
âHome?â Jeff smirked and said while pointing at Connor. âAnd thatâs your son?â
Calista didnât know the gravity of the situation. She tried to please Ethan by saying, âOf course, thatâs
Mr. Millerâs son. He looks exactly like Mr. Miller. It should be apparent that theyâre related.â
Jeff slapped Ethan with a shaky hand. Although there wasnât much force behind the slap, it attracted. a
lot of attention.
âMy daughter loved you so much. How could you do this to her? Do you even remember what you
promised me? You heartless scum! I shouldâve known better than to allow my daughter to marry a man
like you. Has our family ever wronged you?â
The people around them had their eyes fixed on Ethan. The chattering began.
âWhat scum he is. We didnât even know he was married before. And heâs holding such a grand.
wedding for his second marriage.â
âAnd they were saying he waited for Marina for ten years. Heâs trash.â
âThatâs right. He even has a son. Maybe he cheated during his first marriage. I feel so bad for Ms.
Fordham.â
Ethan didnât care about what the other people were saying. He was only focused on Jeff.
âDad, this is not a good place to talk. Letâs go to the hospital.â
Jeff swung his hand away angrily. âYou bastard, you have no right to call me Dad.â
Jeff used all his strength to break away from Ethan. However, he fell onto the floor as he lost his
balance.
âDad!â Oliviaâs scream came from a distance away. She tried her best to catch up to Jeff but was too
slow.
But Ethan reacted quickly and managed to grab Jeff before he hit the floor.
âSlow down, Olivia.â
Being careful was the last thing on Oliviaâs mind. She saw Jeff falling over and felt like she couldnât
breathe. She ran toward Jeff as fast as she could.
When she reached Jeffâs side, Olivia asked nervously, âDad, how are you feeling? Are you hurt?â
Jeff held her hand. He had so much he wanted to say.
But, in the end, he just asked, âTell me, Liv. Is your mother dead?â
Olivia was taken aback. Then, she lied, âThatâs not true. Sheâs still alive. Why would she be dead?â
âSilly girl, you always make that face when you lie. You havenât changed one bit.â
Reaching out, Jeff touched Oliviaâs face with his other hand.
âIâm sorry, Liv. I wasnât able to protect you.â
Jeffâs eyes
were already filled with tears. Looking at her with guilt, he said, âIâm such a useless father.
I canât even protect you
âDonât talk anymore, Dad. Iâll bring you to the hospital now. Donât worry about anything. Youâll recover.
Everything will be better.â
âLiv, Iâll always love you.â
Jeffâs hand went limp after he said that.
âDad!â
