Chapter 503
Even After Death
Oliviaâs mind went blank when she saw Jeff falling unconscious. She cried out in shock and fainted.
âLiv!â
Ethan carried her in his arms while Brent carried Jeff on his back. They quickly left the scene.
Marina was also in a daze from what had happened. She didnât understand how things came to this.
As she watched Ethan leaving with Olivia in his arms, she screamed, âEthan, the ceremony is about to
begin!â
She was in a hurry to get to Ethan, but her legs couldnât support her weight. She fell to the floor as
soon as she tried to stand.
The fancy dress she had on could not conceal the sorry state she was in, nor could it stop the words of
the people looking at her.
Calista finally realized that she had made a colossal mess. She quickly went to Marina and tried to help
her up.
âAre you okay, Marina?â
Marina slapped her hard. âBitch! Look at what youâve done!â
Calista knew what she said to Ethan had been inappropriate. She frantically tried to explain, âIâm sorry,
Marina. I was j-just trying to â¦â
Marina grabbed Calista by the collar, wrinkling the lace on her chest.
âIf I canât get married, youâll be in for it.â
Calista slumped to the floor, muttering, âIâm sorry, Iâm sorry! I didnât know things would turn out
like this.â
At the hospital, Olivia and Jeff were sent to the emergency room. Oliviaâs diagnosis results came out
quickly, but Jeff was pushed into an operating room.
Chris tried to comfort Ethan, saying, âDonât worry, Mrs. Miller is fine. She just fainted from shock.
The babies are fine too.â
Ethan rubbed his temples and said, âIâm worried about Dad. Heâs too fragile.â
Olivia was the same. If something were to happen to Jeff, she would be devastated too,
A doctor came out of the operating room, and Ethan immediately went up to him.
âHow is my dad doing, doctor?â
before he could recover. We did our best, but the patientâs will to live is weak. Itâs either we give up on
treatment or we send him into the ICU. Itâs out of our hands now.â
Olivia was still unconscious, so Ethan had to choose for her. Even though he knew that once inside-the
ICU, various measures that would cause significant and irreversible damage to the body would be used
to keep the patient alive, he had no other choice.
âTransfer him to the ICU. Keep him alive no matter what.â
âUnderstood.â
Olivia was thrown into darkness. She searched in the endless darkness but didnât know what she was
looking for. She felt like she was about to lose someone important to her.
She searched for a long time but found nothing. She crouched on the floor and started to cry. She
suddenly realized when she looked down that her physical body had gone back to when she was a
child. Her arms and legs were tiny.
Just as she was panicking, someone placed their hand on her head.
The darkness started to disperse. A gentle and familiar voice said, âDonât cry, Liv.â
Realization struck her. She had been looking for Jeff. She raised her head to see the man before her.
He looked exactly like he did ten years ago. He no longer looked sickly or frail. He looked like he was in
his prime.
Jeff smiled at her warmly, just as he used to.
âDad!â
âLiv, Iâm so sorry you had to go through so many years of hardship. Itâs my fault. I didnât take good care
of you.â
âThatâs not true, Dad. You protected me my whole life. Let me take care of you from now on, okay?â
Jeff looked up at the sky, his smile still wide. âLiv, Iâm tired. I might not be able to hold on.â
