I Love You More, Cade by Coral Hume ( Nydia and Jackson)
Chapter 28
Nydia rushed to the company and found Lance waiting by her office door. When he spotted her, he reported, âMs. Sharp, two of our executives were fired.â
Nydia gasped when she heard the update.
There were only a few Sharp Group employees staying at the Jackson Group. The loss of two experienced employees was a significant strike to the Sharp Group.
Nydia asked, âIs there any reason for that?â
Lanceâs expression turned serious as he reported. âThe company is facing accusations of infringement regarding the newly invented drone. Weâve dispatched a team of lawyers to negotiate with the plaintiff. The two employees were in charge of that project. Therefore, they are accountable for the consequences.â He thought, This event is far more complicated than it looks. Those two have worked at the Sharp Group for years. They are like the main pillars of the company. I donât think they could make such mistakes.â
Nydia replied, âWe need to gather evidence, but our immediate priority is to appease the upset shareholders.â She thought, âThe stock price must sharply decline as the brand reputation gets hurt. The Jackson Group is a large corporation. This incident could lead to losses in the tens of billions of dollars. The shareholders wonât let us go easily.â
Those thoughts gave Nydia a severe headache. She raised her hand to rub her forehead and found her hands were wrapped. Thus, she annoyingly tore the gauzes off and threw them on the desk.
It was at that moment that Lance noticed Nydiaâs injuries. He asked solicitously, âMs. Sharp, what happened to your
hands?â
Nydia did not reply. She sat on the chair and closed her eyes, trying hard to figure out a solution.
Lance stood aside and suggested, âMs. Sharp, how about asking Cade for help? This accident is a disaster for us, but for him, I believe that he can solve it with one sentence. The urgent task right now is to calm down the Jackson Groupâs
shareholders. We can collect the evidence ourselves.â
Nydia remained silent, reflecting. Iâve never asked Cade for a favor at work in the five years since I married him. Iâve always known he wouldnât give me a hand even if I pleaded. He told me he was generous enough to acquire the struggling Sharp Group and permit its executives to remain. Iâve always been grateful and refrained from asking him for anything. But this
timeâ¦
Thinking of that, Nydia opened her eyes and seemed to retrieve her composure. She ordered, âBack up all the information about that product, including designs, materials, models, samples, test records, franchises, and distribution channels. Remember, every dot on the designs needs to be collected.â
âNoted.â With that, Lance left for work.
Seconds later, Alison walked in. She reported, âMs. Sharp, half of the corporationâs key shareholders have arrived. A meeting will be held in the conference room in an hour.â
Nydia rubbed her eyebrows again, complaining inside, âDealing with those old guys is the worst. Theyâre all conniving and

skilled at pointing fingers. They used to stir up trouble over the smallest things. This PR crisis must have them livid. I suppose Cade is the only one who can calm them down. Well, it looks like Iâll have to swallow my pride and ask Cade for a
favor.â
However, Nydia did not immediately act on her thoughts. She stayed in her office for about forty minutes before she tidied herself up and knocked on the CEOâs office door.
Stuart opened the door. Seeing it was Nydia, he exchanged a look with her.
Nydia immediately received Stuartâs message. She slightly leaned over and noticed Josephine was in the office.
Stuart explained, âHello, Ms. Sharp. Ms. Brooks is updating her work progress. She arrived just a couple of minutes ago.â He particularly informed Nydia why and when Josephine was in the room because he realized Cade would get mad if Nydia misunderstood anything and fought with him. He thought, If Cade gets upset, Iâll be the one to deal with the fallout.
Nydia nodded and walked in. Stuart left the office and closed the door.
Three of them staying in the same room created an awkward atmosphere. Nydia could not bear to stay there for one second. She reminded herself, âEmergent situation. I must endure that since I need to ask Cade for help.â
Josephine took the initiative and greeted, âHey, Nydia.â
Nydia smiled back and said, âHi, Josephine. It doesnât look like the perfect timing for me to show up here.â
Cade raised his head to glance at Nydia coldly and looked away quickly.
Nydia wondered, âWhy do I feel that Cade is being mad at me? Right. What a severe PR crisis. As the CEO, he has the right to be angry.â
Josephine glanced at Nydiaâs hands, feigning shock, and exclaimed, âNydia, are your hands injured? I saw someone like you! at the hospital this morning. Now, Iâm certain it was you.â
Cade lowered his gaze, his cold stare briefly landing on Nydiaâs hands wrapped in gauze.
Nydia was stunned and did not care about it too much. After all, seeking Cadeâs help was her urgent task. She tucked her hair behind her ear and flashed a smile, saying, âJosephine, I totally understand how you two love each other. Can I borrow Mr. Jackson for a few minutes? I promise it wonât take more than fifteen minutes. After that, you can do whatever you want for the rest of the day. I wonât disturb you.â Nydiaâs words made it seem like Cade was just an object that could be borrowed and returned casually. As a result, Cadeâs expression darkened.
The atmosphere grew frosty as if the office temperature had plummeted suddenly.
Josephine sensed the disrespect from Nydiaâs words. When she was going to retort, Cade ordered in an icy tone, âGet out.â Josephine thought Cade got mad by Nydiaâs words and asked Nydia to get out. Thus, she crossed her arms and raised her chin, saying, âDid you hear that? Cadeâ¦â
Cade interrupted before Josephine could finish her words, âJosephine, you get out!â
Josephine was taken aback and deeply hurt, and her face turned pale after it flushed red. She fixed a sharp glare at Nydia for seconds before reluctantly exiting the room. Immediately afterward, she made a phone call, asking, âDid you prepare

everything I requested?â
After receiving a satisfactory answer, Josephine put away her phone. She glared at the door and murmured, âNydia, youâll remember the price for stealing my man.â
Observing Cadeâs unkindness toward the woman he loved, Nydia questioned her decision. She pondered, âPerhaps changing my mind wouldnât be a bad idea. It seems like trouble is on the horizon.
Cade coldly reminded Nydia, âWhy are you standing there and saying nothing? Donât waste my time.â
Nydia bit her lip to be more determined. She looked at him and asked, âWill you attend the meeting of shareholders?â
Cade stared at Nydia like a ghost and did not reply.
Nydia felt a chill to the bone as Cadeâs gaze pierced through her, but she failed to grasp his intentions from his silence.
A moment later, Cade suddenly sneered. He leaned back in his seat and replied plainly, âNo, Iâm not attending.â
Nydia fell silent, thinking, âHis absence means his indifference for the Sharp Group.â She clenched her hands and gritted her teeth, trying to hold back her anger.
She tried to conceal her emotion from her speaking. âYouâve promised me that you will consider allowing the Sharp Group to survive as long as Iâm being a decent Mrs. Jackson.â She talked to herself, âShowing my weakness and begging should give me what I want.â
Cade casually looked at Nydia and questioned. âThen, tell me. Did you do your job well?â His eyes were as deep as an abyss. Eventually, his gaze fell on Nydiaâs hands.
