Chapter 44
Running Into You
Liamâs eyes went wide. âAre you totally sure, Maggie?â
She got up and handed him the pictures and the papers, letting him see for himself. He held the photos in his large hands like he was holding the most precious piece of art. He touched lightly the white mass at the bottom in awe.
âA babyâ¦we are going to have a baby?â he whispered.
âYesâ¦,â Maggie whispered back.
âWhy are you crying then? Are you not happy?â Liam asked cautiously.
âI am thrilled, but we have never talked about kids and when you wanted them. I didnât know if you would think that I trapped you or if you still even wanted meâ¦â
Liam was shocked by her words and put his hands on either side of her face. âMaggie, I will always want you, and I am thrilled about the baby! I love you so much and I canât wait!â
He kissed her softly and gently placed his hand on her still flat stomach.
He pulled back and looked at her with love in his eyes. âBut I am pissed off that you would think I wouldnât want this baby! Or you!â
The tears fell from her again as he kissed her face all over, whispering how much he loved her and the baby.
âLiam, what do you want to do now?â she said as she leaned against his chest.
âWell, I would like to be married before the baby comes. I want you to have my name as soon as possible!â
âMe too. Well, do you want to just go to the courthouse before your family leaves?â Maggie asked.
âMaggie we are not getting married at the courthouse! You deserve better than that! We will just move up the ceremony date,â he said simply.
âI donât want to be fat, Liam!â
âFirst, you would not be fat! You would be pregnant and gorgeous. And second, we can just have it this fall,â Liam stated.
âI have never planned a wedding before! I donât know what to do! Makaylaâs mom took care of hers.â
âI know a party planner. Iâll call her tomorrow. You tell her what you want, and she will do all the rest. You just have to say âyesâ or âno.ââ
âWhat about you? I want you to be a part of this, babe. This is our wedding!â
âIâll help and give my input.
âWe should pick a date now and get started.â
Liam got up and pulled out his phone. âI assume you will keep coaching. I put all your games in my calendar so I can come to as many as possible. Letâs see when the end of the season is, and we will go right after that. You shouldnât be showing much at that point, right? When are we due?â
âWe have a due date of February tenth as of now. That could change as they do the next scan. Itâs still early. Yes, I want to keep coaching, but I was thinking to not go back to school. I donât like disrupting the kids by leaving in February. And if you are okay with it, I wouldnât go back after, either. But thatâs only if you are okay with me not workingâ¦â
Maggie watched his face as she spoke, looking for a reaction to what she said about not working. He had a great poker face and didnât reveal a thing.
âMaggie, if you donât want to work, donât! God knows we donât need the money, and the fact that you want to stay with our child after theyâre born makes me bloody happy!
âCall me old-fashioned, I donât care, but I want to take care of you and our family! So, if you donât want to work and just coach, do it! I will support whatever you want to do.â
âOkay, I will call Ed tomorrow and tell him. I want him to have as much time as he can to find another teacher⦠Oh my god, we are really doing this, arenât we?â
Liam laughed. âYes, we are! Pick a date, right now!â
Maggie looked and picked out the weekend right after the playoffs were done. While she didnât think that highly of her skills as a coach, she wanted to make sure she was covered, just in case.
âOkay, the twenty-first of October is our wedding date! Do you still want to go on a honeymoon?â Liam asked.
âOnly if you want to take the time off. We donât have toâ¦,â Maggie replied.
âOh, we are going on a honeymoon! You leave that to me!â Liam said with a gleam in his eye.
âI just realized that we wonât be able to go to England for Christmas, Liam! Iâm sorry!â
âItâs okay! Weâll see my family in October and Iâm sure my parents will be over as soon as the baby is born. Everything will work out! Let me make some calls and get this started. Are you hungry?â
âI could eat a little. I threw up earlier, so nothing heavy.â
âOkay, I will get you something and be back in a few minutes.â
âThanks, babe. Please donât say anything yet. We can tell them tomorrow, okay?â
Liam kissed the top of her head. âAnything you want, darling.â He went downstairs.
âHey, Liam, is Maggie okay?â Henry asked.
âSheâs fine. Just a migraine. Iâm going to get her something to eat, and sheâll be just fine tomorrow,â Liam explained.
Liam warmed up some soup they had left over, put some bread and a glass of milk on a tray, and took it up, telling everyone he would see them tomorrow.
He walked in on Maggie looking through her phone.
âHere, darling, eat something. I need to make some calls, okay?â
Maggie ate slowly as she listened to him call the event planner. He secured her pretty quickly, and Maggie felt relieved.
âThanks, Erica! This is perfect! We will see you here on Friday at two. Thank you so much! Bye!â He hung up and grinned.
âWe are set! She will bring her binders, and we can get this planned!â Liam exclaimed.
âThatâs perfect! Hey, I have an idea, why donât we invite some people over and announce the whole thing at once?â
âThatâs a splendid idea! Who am I calling?â
âBrett and Sheila, Mike and Makayla, and Nick and Hannah. I want them all at the wedding too!â
âOn it, darling! And I will get that Thai restaurant we like to make a buffet and deliver so we donât have to worry about food, okay?â
Maggie smiled as she drank the milk. He immediately started texting and calling everyone.
Soon, everything was ready for their big reveal the next night. Liam held Maggie as she drifted off to sleep.
He lay next to her and thought about the next few months. He was so excited. He was going to be a father!
And he was going to marry the most beautiful woman in the world; a kind, caring woman who always kept him on his toes and had a cheeky mouth that turned him on no end.
And now, he got to be with her for the rest of his life. He fell asleep with a smile on his face.
