Chapter 44

Running Into You

Liam’s eyes went wide. “Are you totally sure, Maggie?”

She got up and handed him the pictures and the papers, letting him see for himself. He held the photos in his large hands like he was holding the most precious piece of art. He touched lightly the white mass at the bottom in awe.

“A baby…we are going to have a baby?” he whispered.

“Yes…,” Maggie whispered back.

“Why are you crying then? Are you not happy?” Liam asked cautiously.

“I am thrilled, but we have never talked about kids and when you wanted them. I didn’t know if you would think that I trapped you or if you still even wanted me…”

Liam was shocked by her words and put his hands on either side of her face. “Maggie, I will always want you, and I am thrilled about the baby! I love you so much and I can’t wait!”

He kissed her softly and gently placed his hand on her still flat stomach.

He pulled back and looked at her with love in his eyes. “But I am pissed off that you would think I wouldn’t want this baby! Or you!”

The tears fell from her again as he kissed her face all over, whispering how much he loved her and the baby.

“Liam, what do you want to do now?” she said as she leaned against his chest.

“Well, I would like to be married before the baby comes. I want you to have my name as soon as possible!”

“Me too. Well, do you want to just go to the courthouse before your family leaves?” Maggie asked.

“Maggie we are not getting married at the courthouse! You deserve better than that! We will just move up the ceremony date,” he said simply.

“I don’t want to be fat, Liam!”

“First, you would not be fat! You would be pregnant and gorgeous. And second, we can just have it this fall,” Liam stated.

“I have never planned a wedding before! I don’t know what to do! Makayla’s mom took care of hers.”

“I know a party planner. I’ll call her tomorrow. You tell her what you want, and she will do all the rest. You just have to say ‘yes’ or ‘no.’”

“What about you? I want you to be a part of this, babe. This is our wedding!”

“I’ll help and give my input.

“We should pick a date now and get started.”

Liam got up and pulled out his phone. “I assume you will keep coaching. I put all your games in my calendar so I can come to as many as possible. Let’s see when the end of the season is, and we will go right after that. You shouldn’t be showing much at that point, right? When are we due?”

“We have a due date of February tenth as of now. That could change as they do the next scan. It’s still early. Yes, I want to keep coaching, but I was thinking to not go back to school. I don’t like disrupting the kids by leaving in February. And if you are okay with it, I wouldn’t go back after, either. But that’s only if you are okay with me not working…”

Maggie watched his face as she spoke, looking for a reaction to what she said about not working. He had a great poker face and didn’t reveal a thing.

“Maggie, if you don’t want to work, don’t! God knows we don’t need the money, and the fact that you want to stay with our child after they’re born makes me bloody happy!

“Call me old-fashioned, I don’t care, but I want to take care of you and our family! So, if you don’t want to work and just coach, do it! I will support whatever you want to do.”

“Okay, I will call Ed tomorrow and tell him. I want him to have as much time as he can to find another teacher… Oh my god, we are really doing this, aren’t we?”

Liam laughed. “Yes, we are! Pick a date, right now!”

Maggie looked and picked out the weekend right after the playoffs were done. While she didn’t think that highly of her skills as a coach, she wanted to make sure she was covered, just in case.

“Okay, the twenty-first of October is our wedding date! Do you still want to go on a honeymoon?” Liam asked.

“Only if you want to take the time off. We don’t have to…,” Maggie replied.

“Oh, we are going on a honeymoon! You leave that to me!” Liam said with a gleam in his eye.

“I just realized that we won’t be able to go to England for Christmas, Liam! I’m sorry!”

“It’s okay! We’ll see my family in October and I’m sure my parents will be over as soon as the baby is born. Everything will work out! Let me make some calls and get this started. Are you hungry?”

“I could eat a little. I threw up earlier, so nothing heavy.”

“Okay, I will get you something and be back in a few minutes.”

“Thanks, babe. Please don’t say anything yet. We can tell them tomorrow, okay?”

Liam kissed the top of her head. “Anything you want, darling.” He went downstairs.

“Hey, Liam, is Maggie okay?” Henry asked.

“She’s fine. Just a migraine. I’m going to get her something to eat, and she’ll be just fine tomorrow,” Liam explained.

Liam warmed up some soup they had left over, put some bread and a glass of milk on a tray, and took it up, telling everyone he would see them tomorrow.

He walked in on Maggie looking through her phone.

“Here, darling, eat something. I need to make some calls, okay?”

Maggie ate slowly as she listened to him call the event planner. He secured her pretty quickly, and Maggie felt relieved.

“Thanks, Erica! This is perfect! We will see you here on Friday at two. Thank you so much! Bye!” He hung up and grinned.

“We are set! She will bring her binders, and we can get this planned!” Liam exclaimed.

“That’s perfect! Hey, I have an idea, why don’t we invite some people over and announce the whole thing at once?”

“That’s a splendid idea! Who am I calling?”

“Brett and Sheila, Mike and Makayla, and Nick and Hannah. I want them all at the wedding too!”

“On it, darling! And I will get that Thai restaurant we like to make a buffet and deliver so we don’t have to worry about food, okay?”

Maggie smiled as she drank the milk. He immediately started texting and calling everyone.

Soon, everything was ready for their big reveal the next night. Liam held Maggie as she drifted off to sleep.

He lay next to her and thought about the next few months. He was so excited. He was going to be a father!

And he was going to marry the most beautiful woman in the world; a kind, caring woman who always kept him on his toes and had a cheeky mouth that turned him on no end.

And now, he got to be with her for the rest of his life. He fell asleep with a smile on his face.
