Chapter 45

Running Into You

Liam awoke the next morning to hear Maggie in the bathroom. He quickly got up and knelt next to her, holding her hair back and rubbing soothing circles on her back, cooing at her.

“Why are you so amazing?” Maggie asked in between gasps.

“Just because I am in love with you! I wouldn’t do this for anyone else!” he said, kissing the top of her head.

When she was done, he helped Maggie into the shower, dressed, and went downstairs.

He told his family the plan and they said it sounded good. Elizabeth knew something was up with her son but didn’t say anything.

Maggie came down for breakfast and they spent a lovely day in the pool and at the beach. The Olsen family had accepted Maggie and she felt like she belonged with them.

She loved them already and already couldn’t imagine her life without them. They made her realize that she deserved something more than what her dad, Jason, or Olivia did to her.

She hadn’t felt this special and wanted her since her grandmother was alive.

The Thai restaurant arrived ahead of time to set up for the evening. Soon all their friends arrived and were filling their plates and laughing in the dining room.

Maggie was a little nervous, but Liam never left her side the whole time, touching her back and kissing her shoulders.

After everyone was done eating, Liam cleared his throat and asked for everyone’s attention. They all turned, and he looked at the people he loved and cared about so much waiting for him to talk.

“Well, we brought you all here to talk about the wedding. We are not getting married next summer—,” he started.

“What? You aren’t getting married anymore? What the bloody hell are you talking about?” Henry yelled. There were audible gasps and murmurs.

“Everyone stop! Bloody hell, relax and let me explain! We’re moving the date up to October. I know it’s soon, but there will be a special guest joining us and we didn’t want to wait any longer.”

“Who is the special guest?” Elizabeth asked, already guessing the answer and trying very hard to contain her joy.

Liam looked at Maggie lovingly and said, “We are having a baby!”

The room erupted in cheers and squeals as the women rushed to throw their arms around her.

Maggie started crying as she felt the love that all these people were showing her.

“I am so happy for you, Maggie! You are making me a grandmother again! I’m just over the moon! I love and adore you, sweetie!” Elizabeth said in her ear as they hugged.

When all the hugging had subsided, Niall and Charlie found a bottle of champagne and poured everyone who could drink a glass. The moms-to-be had ginger ale.

Maggie was sitting at the kitchen island with Makayla, Liza, Hannah, Sheila, and Bethany.

“I would like all of you ladies to be at the wedding. Makayla, will you be my maid of honor?”

“Absolutely!” Makayla cried, hugging her fiercely. “I would be honored. Although you are not giving me much time after this baby is born to get back in shape!”

“I promise we will find a dress that shows how beautiful you are!” Maggie said. “And I would love it if the rest of you would be bridesmaids.”

All the ladies were thrilled. Maggie invited them over for Friday to meet with the wedding planner. With everything settled, they went to get dessert and wandered off.

Maggie sat next to Brett and took his hand.

“So, you’re gonna make me an uncle, hm?” he said, kissing her hand.

“It appears so! I’m not gonna lie, I was freaked out when I found out!”

“But why would you be freaked out? This is what you have always wanted! A baby and a man that loves you,” Brett asked with a furrowed brow.

Maggie sighed. “Liam and I had never really talked about kids or when we wanted them. With my past, I was terrified of how he was going to react. I didn’t want him to leave me…us…”

Maggie shivered at the thought.

Brett shot her a fierce look. “Now stop with all of this! I have never seen a man more in love than he is with you! From the moment he knocked you over, it has been you!”

“I get that now, Bear, I do. Liam was so great when I told him and then got mad at me like you just did when I told him my fears. I know he loves me and this baby.”

“Good! Now, how fancy are you going to make me dress up? You know I hate it!”

“Well, that depends on if you will do double duty at the wedding or not.”

“I am already going to be a groomsman. What else do you want me to do?”

“Would you walk me down the aisle and give me away?”

Brett softened his face and wrapped his arms around her. “Of course I’ll walk you down the aisle! But giving you away? Never! You and Makayla are stuck with me forever!”

Maggie laughed as she wiped away a tear. They would always be in each other’s lives. He had looked out for her since she was six years old, and he wasn’t going to stop now.

“You know that seeing me dressed up is going to start my mother on her lectures of settling down, especially since Liam is getting married before me.

“And now you ~and~ Makayla are having babies? Going to be the longest few months of my life!”

Maggie giggled again. “Oh, and I forgot to mention that I asked Sheila to be a bridesmaid too!”

Brett groaned. “You’re killing me, Mags!”

“So how are things going on that end?” Maggie asked innocently.

“Don’t pull that innocent shit with me, Red!”

“What? I didn’t do anything!”

“Whatever. It’s going fine, okay? We have gone out a few times.”

“Have you slept with her?”

“Jesus, Maggie! What the fuck?”

“I was just asking!”

“I am not going to kiss and tell, okay?”

Maggie smiled. “That was the perfect answer! Now don’t screw this up! You two are great together! I have been saying that since you hired her a year ago!”

He hugged her and told her to mind her own business as the party continued.

Everyone was milling around when Maggie heard her phone ring. She went to her desk in the sunroom and answered it.
