Chapter 47

Running Into You

The next month passed by in the blink of an eye for Maggie and Liam. Liam’s family left a few days after they met with the event planner, Erica, and Maggie was so sad to see them go.

She had become pretty close with Elizabeth in the short time she was there. There was an immense amount of hugging and crying, but with the wedding a few months away, they would be back soon.

Liam took them to the airport. Poor Rupert was kept waiting by the door for Ellie to come back and give him treats.

He had followed behind her for the last two weeks, getting all the food he could stomach. Gus, on the other hand, was thrilled that everyone was gone. He had spent most of the time hiding.

Friday was a very productive day. They met with Erica and had their wedding planned in four hours. They chose pale pink and silver for their colors.

Liam loved the three-piece suit in the traditional English cut with silver vests and ties for the men. Maggie chose pale pink chiffon dresses for the ladies with a fitted top and long flowing skirts.

It was perfect for each body type and came in several different cuts for the top so each bridesmaid could pick what they liked best.

Maggie wanted to have the ceremony at the church where her mom and grandmother had their funerals and were buried. She wanted them close by when she married Liam.

Liam totally understood and agreed. They were having their reception at the same five-star hotel where the law awards were held a few weeks ago. Erica booked them the large ballroom as well.

Erica was a dream come true! She was a force and was excellent at her job. All Liam and Maggie had to do was point at what they wanted, and it was done.

They selected menu items, and when Maggie described what kind of cake she wanted, Erica drew it and knew just the person to make it. All Maggie had left to do was find her gown.

Erica was going to meet her, Makayla, Hannah, Joan, and Sheila at the most exclusive dress shop in Southern Florida next week to look. And everyone was very excited!

Sunday, two weeks after the family left, was Makayla’s baby shower at the house.

Makayla’s mom, Sandy, and her aunts all came in from Alabama, where they had bought land up there on a lake, built houses, and lived together with their husbands.

Sandy was so pleased that Maggie had found true love after the incident with Jason and Olivia. She hated having seen her in so much pain just a few months ago.

The day was perfect, and Makayla and Mike received almost everything on their registry. They still didn’t know the sex, and the excitement was at a fever pitch.

Maggie was thinking it was a girl, agreeing with Mike, while Brett, Liam, and everyone else thought it was a boy.

Maggie bought a bag full of purple girls’ clothes, dresses, and little shoes to give them after Makayla gave birth.

Liam came back that night after a boat outing with the other men to find Maggie lying on the couch, exhausted. Joan had started the dishwasher and left Maggie to rest.

He kissed her softly, picked her up, and carried her up to their room.

He went to the bathroom and ran her a hot bath, filling it with some oils the doctor said would be fine during her pregnancy, and slipped them both in.

Maggie sighed as she leaned against him. They talked about their day and just relaxed.

“Have you thought about what you want us to have?” Maggie asked as she played with Liam’s fingers.

“I was thinking a boy first would be nice, but I would also be thrilled with a girl. I just can’t wait until February to meet him or her!”

Nodding in understanding, she inquired, “How many kids do you want, babe?”

“I have always wanted a big family, so I want as many as you will give me,” he answered.

“So, if I said I want four, you would be fine with it?”

“Absolutely!”

“Five? Six? Seven?” Maggie said, poking fun at him.

“I would love that many,” he said.

Maggie turned and looked at his face, seeing that he was serious.

“Well, let’s see how this goes and we’ll take it from there. I was thinking three or four…”

Liam kissed her neck and whispered, “Whatever you want is fine!”

They lay together until the water got cool and then got out, put on robes, and went down to eat outside. Maggie was laughing with Liam when his phone started ringing.

Liam went back to his office to answer it. He was gone for twenty minutes before he came back, looking upset.

“Maggie, darling, I have to fly out of town tonight on an emergency. Nick is coming with me. I’m sorry, I know we had plans tomorrow. I will make it up to you when I get back in a few days.”

“Okay, babe. I understand. Let’s go get you packed. Are you going to pick up Nick on the way to the airport?”

“Yes, thank you for understanding!” he gushed as he kissed her.

They went upstairs and she helped him pack a small suitcase. Liam looked at the clock and smirked at Maggie as she stood there.

“What?” she asked, questioning him.

“I have just enough time to take you to bed before I have to leave… What do you say?”

Maggie laughed at him, her libido had increased vastly and Liam was more than happy to accommodate her. The doctor said it was fine to carry on at her appointment two days earlier.

Maggie untied her robe, letting it fall to the floor.

Liam reached her in three steps and ravaged her mouth as she pulled him to the bed with her. She was instantly turned on as he rubbed her slit.

“I love how wet you always are for me!”

“Because I am always ready for you!” she said breathlessly.

Liam loved hearing it and slowly plunged his throbbing member into her with a moan. Maggie’s back arched as he filled her, taking all of him in. He pumped slowly as he kissed her.

Maggie thought he was going way too slow and urged him on by raising her hips. Liam knew what she was doing, but continued to hold back, wanting her to say what she wanted.

It always blew his mind when she did that, and he needed to have a memory to take with him while he was gone.

Maggie pushed into him again, dug her nails in, and wrapped a leg around his waist. Although it took a herculean effort, Liam continued at a slow pace.

“Did you want something, darling?” he taunted.

“Please, babe!” Maggie urged.

“Tell me what you want, Maggie!”

“God, faster, harder Liam! I need to feel you!” she all but begged.

Liam turned up his speed just enough to tease her. “Like that? Is that good, darling?”

“No! Fuck me, Liam! Pound into me!” she yelled.

“That’s what I want to hear!” Liam grunted.

He repositioned his knees, grabbed her hips, and did exactly as she asked. Anyone walking by the room could hear the skin slapping, the heavy breathing, and the moans.

Liam roared out as he came, emptying his seed in her as she screamed, clenching her walls around him as she finished.

Liam rested his forehead on hers as they took deep breaths, calming themselves down. He kissed her deeply, getting up to dress.

Maggie snuggled under the covers as she watched him pull on a tight T-shirt to cover his sexy torso after he put on his boxer briefs and shorts.

Liam put on some socks and Nikes before grabbing his wallet and phone.

“I love you, darling. I will be back in a few days. Be careful!” he said as he kissed her on the lips.

“I will. Call me when you land so I know you are okay!”

“It’ll be late. I’ll call in the morning instead. I want you and baby to sleep.”

Maggie nodded, knowing that arguing was fruitless. He kissed her again before he left. Hearing the heavy door close, Rupert came running in and jumped on the bed next to her.

She told him to stay, ran downstairs, pulled out a pint of mocha ice cream, and ran back up. She jumped in bed, turned on Netflix, and dug in, with Gus joining them after a few minutes.

While she was indulging, Liam drove to Nick and Hannah’s house where Brett was already waiting with him.

Nick kissed Hannah goodbye as the two men got in and they went on to the airport.

“You’re sure it’s them?” Liam asked as he watched Brett’s leg bounce with anxiety.

They had footage of store surveillance cameras, but Brett was the only one who knew what Jason and Olivia looked like.

“That’s definitely Olivia. I have known her for twenty years. The guy looked like Jason, but his head was turned at a funny angle,” Brett said. “What’s the plan, Liam?”

“Well, once we land in Charlotte, we’ll get a hotel room and crash.

“First thing tomorrow, we’ll drive over to Greenville and meet up with Nick’s good friend who is a deputy with the sheriff’s office, and one of my investigators.

“They will give us an update, and once we get Brett to make a positive ID, we get the sheriff to arrest them and send them back to be charged,” Liam explained.

He parked in long-term parking and the three friends got out, checked in, and went to the gate. They weren’t sitting together, having just gotten their tickets a few hours before. It was only a two-hour flight, but they landed just after midnight.

By the time they rented a car and checked into a hotel by the highway, it was almost 2 a.m.

Brett tossed and turned all night. He was worried about Olivia but also about how Maggie and Makayla would react to seeing them. They both were pregnant and he just wanted to protect them.

Not that they needed it, but his brotherly instinct just kicked in, and he couldn’t help it. Some habits just never went away.
