Chapter 87

Running Into You

Sobs rocked Maggie’s body as Liam held her and gently rocked her. She let him comfort her, realizing how much she had pushed him away and had desperately missed him.

“I’m sorry for how I have been acting toward you and the boys. I was just so shocked and—”

“Shhhh, it’s okay, Maggie. I know it was a shock to the system, for both of us. Please just calm down and let’s enjoy this from this moment forward, okay?”

She nodded. “I love you, Liam, and I don’t deserve you. I’m sorry…”

“I love you too. I don’t deserve you, and I’m sorry too. Let’s just think about the baby girl that we created and move on. I love you, darling!”

She nodded her head and took a deep breath to calm herself. Liam helped her up and she fixed her pants and shirt. He kissed her lightly again, took her hand, and they went to the doctor’s office to talk about the next few months and their birth plan.

After the meeting, Liam walked her to her car and kissed her. “Are you okay to go back to work?”

“I am. I have a parent meeting after school, and then I will be home.”

“Do you want to tell the boys tonight or wait?”

“Let’s tell them tonight! I don’t want to waste any more time.”

“I love you, drive carefully!” Liam said as he smacked her butt as she giggled and climbed into the massive luxury SUV that she got when the twins were born.

She smiled the whole way back to her school and couldn’t wipe it off as she finished her afternoon, thinking about pinks, purple, flowers, and butterflies.

Her afternoon meeting went great, and she created a tutoring plan and testing for a student who was suspected of having a learning disability.

Maggie told Dave the good news about the baby, and he was happy for her. He hugged her and sent her home when the bell rang, with Patrick hot on her trail.

She picked Isaac up from preschool and went home to find the twins playing outside. Tonya had lasagna in the oven and salad ready to go.

Maggie sent her on her way, wanting to tell the boys the good news first. She played outside with them until Liam came home and wrestled with the boys until Maggie said dinner was ready.

They all came in, washed their hands, and sat down at the table.

“So, Mommy and I went to the doctor today, and we have some very exciting news!”

Maggie smiled at all her boys and continued, “Daddy and I wanted to be the first to tell you that we are going to have another baby!”

All the boys looked at her as they processed what she was saying.

“You have another baby in your tummy?” Isaac asked.

“Yes, sweetie, I do. The baby will be born after your birthday in May.”

“And we have some more exciting news, boys. Today the doctor told us that you are going to have a baby sister!”

Isaac’s eyes went wide, remembering the conversation that he had with Maggie.

“Mommy, does that mean I can do all the things that were in the bear book? That I can play dolls with her and teach her how to race cars?”

Liam’s heart melted as Maggie sniffled through her tears and nodded. “Yes, baby, just like in the books.”

Isaac ran up and hugged her. “Thank you, Mommy! This is better than the cars I got for Christmas!”

Patrick hugged Liam and the twins went back to eating, not understanding yet how their life was going to change. They finished dinner with the pink cupcakes that Liam brought home from the bakery.

Once all the children were in bed, Maggie sat next to Liam and snuggled with him, something they hadn’t done in months.

“This is nice, I have really missed this, darling,” he said, kissing her head.

“I know, I’m sorry... I have a confession to make, though…”

“What, darling?”

“I went back to work and looked up nursery themes for girls, and I found some things I really like…”

“All right, let’s see what you found, then!” he said with a smirk.

She pulled out her phone and showed him some furniture and bedding ideas.

“These are just some things I found. If you don’t like them, we can look for something else…”

Liam looked at each item. When he was done, he started laughing.

“What? Do you hate them?” Maggie worriedly asked.

Liam picked up his own phone and showed it to her. “I, too, went back to work and did some browsing. See what I found.”

Maggie started giggling as she saw the screen.

“We picked the exact same things! From the white furniture to the butterfly mobile and the purple flower patchwork sheets!”

“Great minds think alike, darling!”

“Should we get everything?”

“Why not? We have the room picked out already. If we get the bedding, you can pick what color you want for the walls and get the room ready for our baby girl. We just need a name.”

“And only four months to get all this done!” she said, laughing.

He hugged her close and kissed her neck, tenderly, waiting to see if she would pull away or react negatively. Maggie felt a surge of love as his lips found her skin, and she sighed.

She had missed his touch and the way she felt when he kissed her. She missed the way he stirred and stroked the desire in her belly.

Liam heard her sigh and decided to just go for it and see what she would do. He was craving her in a way that he never knew was possible.

He hadn’t been so familiar and intimate with his hand since he was a teenager and he just needed to be with her, to love her and touch her.

He gently took her hand and turned her face toward his and leaned in and kissed her, softly at first. She leaned into his kiss and opened her mouth to allow his tongue that was teasing her bottom lip.

He shifted his weight and wove his fingers through her soft, thick hair. Maggie couldn’t take it anymore and crawled into his lap, straddling him. She needed his touch, needed him to make love to her.

Liam groaned a little as she settled on him, moving his hands to her sides.

“Liam, I need you,” she whispered.

“Are you sure? We don’t have to, Maggie…,” he whispered back.

Maggie pulled back and looked at him sadly. “You don’t want me, do you… I’ve broken us, haven’t I?”

“What? No! Oh god, Maggie, never! I can’t tell you how much I want you and will always want you! I just meant that I wasn’t going to push you…”

“I do want you, Liam. I need to be close to you, and I need you to make love to me,” she said, looking deep into his eyes.

Liam kissed her again with urgency and stood up, carrying her bridal style up the stairs to their room. He gently laid her on the bed and started to unbutton her shirt.

Maggie reciprocated by taking his shirt off and running her hands over his chest, missing the way the muscles felt under her hands.

“Liam, please make love to me,” she whispered in a strangled voice.

He didn’t need another request and they spent the next two hours wrapped in each other, remembering how much they loved each other.

It was one of the most beautiful, emotional, and sensual experiences that Maggie ever remembered having with Liam.

It moved her so much that when she came the last time, and he followed right behind her, she felt tears run down her face.

“Hey, what’s wrong? Are you okay?” Liam asked, slightly worried.

“I love you so much, and I am just so sorry for the last few months and how I acted. This was amazing and moving and I never want us to end!

“I want to stay like this forever, and I feel terrible for treating you the way I did. Can you ever forgive me?”

Liam smiled at her as he wiped the tears from her face.

“Maggie, of course I forgive you. I love you and never blamed you for anything. I knew you were working through this shock and would come back to me.

“Now dry your tears, and let’s go to sleep. It’s been one hell of a day!”

Maggie smiled and kissed him again, then settled her head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat. It was still one of her favorite ways to sleep, and she was out within minutes.

Liam knew they were going to be okay and was thrilled at the prospect of a little girl added to their family.
