Chapter 58 Slandering Her

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

Raymond nodded, handed the menu to the waiter, and his gaze fell on Emily.

Emily was flattered.

Raymond was silent for a moment, then asked, "Emily, I just want to know who bullied Melinda back then?"

The smile on Emily's face froze instantly. She pursed her red lips, "Why are you suddenly asking about this?"

"Answer me." Raymond's eyes were fixed on her.

Emily's mind was racing. If Raymond knew the truth, he would definitely choose Melinda. What would she be then? The position of Mrs. Thomas would be handed over to someone else! She was unwilling; this couldn't happen! Emily had already thought of an excuse to hide the truth.

"Melinda was too young and naive back then, that's why she was deceived by that man." Emily's eyes gradually reddened.

"She had a fight with Connie and ran away from home. She got drunk and was taken advantage of. After that, she ran away from home for five years and only came back a few months ago with a child." Emily sniffled.

"Is that really the case?" Raymond frowned and asked.

Emily had thought of her excuse before coming, thinking it was flawless.

"She was drunk at the time, how could she know who bullied her?" Emily looked at Raymond with a look of deep sorrow.

"I will find that man and give her an explanation." A cold light flashed in Raymond's eyes.

Emily was stunned. She thought that by saying this, Raymond would soften, but his eyes were as cold as ice.

"Tell me the time and place, and I'll send someone to investigate." Emily trembled slightly. Raymond's control and action were simply terrifying.

But she was unwilling to be replaced just like that.

"I... actually, I don't know either. She was so wronged back then that she didn't tell me anything." Emily gritted her teeth and decided to say it directly.

"Moreover, Melinda hates me, thinking that I deliberately arranged for that man to bully her." Raymond's gaze gradually turned cold.

Emily thought he was still in love with Melinda, and jealousy burned fiercely in her heart.

"But I can help you ask our classmates from back then. There should be some clues." Emily thought her explanation was perfect.

Raymond's pupils suddenly contracted. He couldn't believe it, his voice trembling slightly, "Are you saying that Sam is that man's child?"

Emily nodded.

Raymond's thoughts stalled for a few seconds, and complex emotions flashed in his eyes. Sam, such a lovely child, was actually that bastard's child.

"Raymond, I know Melinda's biological father Scott saved your life back then, but haven't you cared for her enough over the years? It's time to repay the debt!" Emily tentatively said.

Raymond didn't respond to Emily's words. His thoughts were in turmoil.

He indeed owed Melinda's family a life, but he had never mentioned this to Emily.

However, considering her relationship with Melinda, it wasn't surprising that Emily knew about it.

"Do you know why Melinda decided to give birth to Sam?" Raymond's voice trembled. He couldn't understand why Melinda would choose to have Sam after going through such pain.

"You don't know. When she ran away from home, we were all looking for her, but we couldn't even see her shadow." Emily shook her head, looking very disappointed as she spoke about it.

Raymond's heart trembled. He seemed to see the helpless and fragile Melinda through this scene.

Why did she run away from home? Was it just because she was bullied? Raymond was filled with confusion and anger. He desperately wanted to find the answer and seek justice for Melinda.

As for her giving birth abroad, he had another opinion.

Sam looked very much like Melinda, but his personality and temperament were very much like another man.

But no matter who he resembled, Sam was so lovable.

He wanted to stay by Melinda's side and heal the deep wounds in her heart.

As for Sam, Raymond saw him as his own child and wanted to give him more love and

care.

The dishes were gradually served, and Raymond said coldly, "Let's eat."

Emily's initially hopeful heart gradually cooled down.

She keenly sensed that the reason Raymond invited her to dinner was just to inquire about Melinda's past.

An indescribable bitterness filled her chest, and she tried hard to maintain her gentle and kind image.

"Raymond, you know about Melinda's situation now."

Emily said softly, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.

Her heartstrings trembled, and she tentatively asked, "What about me?"

"Emily, that night I was drunk and hurt you in an unconscious state. I will take responsibility." He looked into her eyes and said.

Emily's eyes reddened slightly, and she tried to suppress the disappointment and unwillingness in her heart.

"Raymond, I don't want any other compensation. I just want you." Her voice carried a hint of humility and pleading.

But Raymond did not respond to her as she wished.

His brows furrowed slightly, and his voice carried a hint of undeniable firmness, "I have already decided."

Emily's heart sank instantly. Just as she was about to speak, Raymond's phone suddenly rang.

She angrily glared at the untimely call, but her breath hitched when she saw the caller ID, Melinda.

Raymond immediately picked up the phone, disregarding Emily, and got up to leave in a hurry.

Emily stared intently at Raymond's back, the flames in her eyes burning even more fiercely.

In the hallway, Raymond's tall figure leaned against the wall.

He lowered his voice, with a hint of imperceptible tenderness, "Sam, is it? Okay, I'll be right there."

Emily almost broke down.

She gritted her teeth, her body trembling slightly. Through the crack in the door, she heard everything clearly.

The veins on her tightly clenched fists bulged, and her distinct knuckles seemed unable to suppress the beast in her heart.

After hanging up the phone, Raymond glanced at the time and returned to the private room. Seeing that Emily hadn't eaten much, he frowned slightly, his voice still cold, "I have something to do, I need to go back to the office. Feel free to stay." "Raymond, can't you stay and have a meal with me? Do you hate me that much?" Emily's voice carried a hint of grievance, her eyes filled with anger, but she still pretended to be pitiful.

She knew that once Raymond walked out of that door, she would have no chance. Raymond nodded.

"You're overthinking it." His voice was deep and powerful, yet carried a hint of finality. With that, he strode towards the door.

Emily watched helplessly as Raymond left, the anger in her heart almost erupting. Melinda! Again, it's Melinda!

The name Melinda was like an inescapable curse, constantly reminding her of her failure and disgrace.

A hint of viciousness flashed in Emily's eyes. She angrily pushed all the dishes on the table to the ground, scattering fragments and soup all over the floor.
