Chapter 59 Larry's Dinner Party

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

Half an hour later, Raymond arrived at the entrance of Melinda's neighborhood.

After parking the car, he straightened his collar. The dim yellow streetlight cast a glow on his face, highlighting his handsome and spirited features. His eyes were as sharp as a hawk's.

Meanwhile, after hanging up the phone, Sam excitedly waited inside the house for Raymond's arrival.

Melinda was unaware of all this. After giving Sam a bath, she busied herself with tidying up the house and doing laundry. Before she knew it, it was already eight o'clock.

She planned to go to her room to handle some work.

At that moment, the doorbell rang.

Melinda was taken aback. Who could it be at this hour?

She quickly walked to the door and looked through the peephole, discovering that Raymond was standing outside.

Suppressing her anger, Melinda asked in an unfriendly tone, "What are you doing here so late?"

Raymond ignored her anger and calmly said, "I'm here to spend time with Sam."

"There's no need. Please leave! I can take care of Sam myself," Melinda coldly refused.

Just as she finished speaking, Sam suddenly appeared from somewhere, happily saying to Raymond, "Raymond, you're here! Let's go downstairs and play!"

Melinda's eyes widened, and her anger flared up instantly. "Sam, it's too late to go out and play. You just had a bath, and you have school tomorrow."

Sam was startled by Melinda's stern tone, his head drooping as he pouted, "I'm sorry, Mommy."

Raymond picked up Sam and whispered softly so only Sam could hear, "Sam, be good. We won't go downstairs. I'll stay and play with you at home, okay?"

After saying that, he looked up at Melinda with a hint of pleading in his eyes. "It's my idea to come. Don't blame Sam."

Eeniry arms ayyrrevecrexpression ranked Raymonds prititir eyes; Mentirord starryer was instantly extinguished.

She just wanted to prevent Sam from having contact with Raymond.

"Sam, go to bed!" Melinda took a deep breath, trying to calm her turbulent emotions. Sam reluctantly let go of Raymond's hand.

Raymond looked at Melinda's indifferent expression, feeling a strange bitterness in his heart. "Don't blame Sam."

He couldn't control his concern and attachment to Sam.

"Mr. Thomas, please leave. Don't let your date wait," Melinda said coldly, glancing at him.

Raymond's breath hitched, and he frowned slightly. "How do you know I have a date?" Melinda sneered. Of course, she knew.

Her hatred for Emily made her develop an inexplicable aversion to Raymond.

By this time, Sam had been taken to the sofa by Melinda to be educated.

He pouted, his eyes welling up with tears as he looked at Raymond. "Mommy, I like Raymond."

Melinda felt a pang in her heart but still maintained a stern face. "From now on, you're not allowed to call him without permission. He's very busy and doesn't have time to always play with you."

Melinda could only use Raymond's busyness as an excuse, trying to make Sam give up his dependence on him.

Sam nodded, somewhat understanding, but his fondness for Raymond only deepened.

Raymond had given Sam unprecedented fatherly love. Sam longed for a father's love; he needed a dad who loved him.

After Raymond left, Melinda lay on Sam's bed, coaxing him to sleep, but she couldn't stop thinking about Raymond.

She couldn't drive him away or forget him. Raymond's image was rooted in her mind.

All night, Melinda felt like she was in a dream, dreaming of Raymond, entangled with him in her dreams.

The next day, Melinda, who hadn't slept well all night, had dark circles under her eyes and felt lethargic all day.

Her phone vibrated in her pocket, bringing her back to reality. She took it out and saw it was a call from Roy, the butler of the Thomas Villa.

"Ms. Sharp, Mr. Thomas invites you to lunch to discuss your marriage with William."

Thinking about what happened last time at the Thomas Villa, Melinda felt a headache coming on. But this matter couldn't be dragged on forever, so she decided to take this opportunity to clarify things.

At noon, Melinda finished work and, as she reached the entrance, saw a black luxury business car parked not far away.

The car exuded an imposing aura.

The driver saw her coming out, quickly got out, and opened the door with a standard smile on his face. "Ms. Sharp, Mr. Thomas has been waiting for a while."

"Thank you," Melinda nodded softly.

She got into the car, where Larry was sitting in the back seat with a cane, smiling at her. "Melinda, I hope I didn't interrupt your work?"

"No, Mr. Thomas. I was going to have lunch anyway," Melinda replied with a faint smile.

As the car's engine started, Melinda spent the entire ride thinking about how to explain the proposal matter to make Larry give up on the idea of her getting married.

She clutched her phone, her knuckles turning white, but she didn't know how to start, fearing Larry might misunderstand.

Half an hour later, the car stopped at the entrance of an upscale club. An elderly man and a young woman got out of the car.

"Grandpa, Melinda, you're here!" William greeted them, his eyes filled with deep affection as he looked at Melinda.

Melinda smiled faintly. "Why are you here so early?"

Melinda smiled awkwardly. Larry noticed and nodded secretly, thinking: These two are indeed a perfect match!

Suddenly remembering something, Larry said, "Oh dear, I forgot, there's someone else who hasn't arrived yet."

"Who?" Melinda and William exchanged a glance and asked simultaneously.

Larry was being mysterious today. What was he up to?

The club manager respectfully introduced today's dishes to Larry. In the spacious private room, the two sat on opposite sides. Although the environment was elegant, they felt too embarrassed to speak. At that moment, the door was suddenly pushed open with a bang, and a tall figure stood in the room.

Melinda's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at the newcomer. William's expression was complex, but the sharpness in his eyes instantly disappeared. Raymond smiled faintly at them and sat down next to Melinda under William's gaze. "Raymond, why are you here? Doesn't the company have food?" William raised an eyebrow, his tone displeased.

Raymond looked at him with cold eyes. "Grandpa asked me to come."

William clearly didn't believe him, thinking he was just here to cause trouble.

After the club manager left, Larry looked at the three of them.

He cleared his throat and said, "It's rare to have a good mood for a meal together

today, so I invited Raymond as well."

Raymond's handsome face stiffened slightly.

She picked up her teacup and took a sip.

His deep eyes looked at her affectionately, as if filled with endless tenderness.
