Chapter 62: The Lost Phone is Recovered

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

Sam glanced at Raymond reluctantly. "Hey, Mr. Thomas, I'm heading to bed now."

"Alright, buddy!" Raymond nodded with a smile.

Sam jumped off the couch and happily ran back to his room.

On the couch, Raymond unbuttoned the top three buttons of his shirt, revealing his muscular chest.

With Sam gone, his gaze became more intense, landing directly on Melinda as if he wanted to devour her with his eyes.

"Can we talk?" Raymond's voice was low and magnetic.

Melinda was tidying up the living room and refused without looking up. "You should leave."

Raymond narrowed his eyes, the chandelier's light casting a cool, aristocratic aura around him.

He didn't care about her refusal and suddenly asked, "What kind of man is Sam's father?"

Melinda's hand paused, her expression changing slightly.

This was the last thing she wanted to talk about, so she chose to remain silent.

Raymond continued, "Are you really going to ruin the rest of your life over a man who isn't worth it?"

Melinda looked up. "I haven't, Mr. Thomas. My life has nothing to do with you." She reminded him again that he should leave.

But Raymond acted as if he hadn't heard her, still sitting on the couch, his deep gaze fixed on her.

Melinda looked at him helplessly. "What do you want?"

Raymond finally stood up slowly. When he reached the door, he turned back and said coldly, "Give me my car keys."

Melinda glanced at the car keys on the couch, quickly picked them up, and walked to the door.

However, Raymond didn't seem to want to take them. Instead, he reached out with his long arm, grabbed Melinda by the waist, and pulled her outside.

In the next second, his tall body pressed against her, pinning her tightly against the wall. His gaze was intense and aggressive.

"Don't do this!"

Melinda's heart raced, her body tensed. She looked up at Raymond, meeting his fiery gaze, feeling as if she were about to be consumed.

Raymond's kiss came down, forceful and lingering, giving her no chance to refuse. His tongue explored her mouth, chasing her taste, making her cheeks flush instantly.

Melinda was dizzy from his kiss. When she finally came to her senses and tried to push him away, Raymond pressed his forehead against hers, his breath warm on her face. "Remember this goodbye kiss!"

"You... jerk!"

Raymond was indeed a jerk. Melinda glared at him angrily. Did he always have to take advantage of her before he could leave?

The next morning, Raymond appeared at Melinda's apartment complex right on time. Seeing her gritting her teeth, looking like she wanted to eat him alive, he felt secretly pleased.

Although he hadn't stayed the night, he had left Melinda breathless with his kiss before leaving, which satisfied him.

After dropping off Sam, he drove her to the research institute.

Melinda was about to start work when she opened her bag and realized she had forgotten her data report at home.

She had no choice but to take leave and go back to get it.

The round trip took an hour and a half, leaving her exhausted. She leaned back in her office chair when Delilah came in to announce a meeting.

During the meeting, Delilah suddenly looked at her with a hint of surprise. "Melinda, why did you call me?"

"What?" Melinda was confused and instinctively checked her pockets.

She was shocked to find her phone missing.

She rushed out of the meeting room, back to her office, and searched every drawer and cabinet, but there was no sign of her phone.

"Oh no, my phone has so many personal photos and contacts..."

She sat in her office chair, filled with regret. She must have left it in the taxi she took earlier.

She anxiously checked her ride-hailing app records when Delilah hurried back in. "Melinda, did you find your phone?"

Melinda shook her head in disappointment.

Soon, her lost phone number called again.

This time, she answered it herself. "Who are you? How do you have my phone?"

A cheerful male voice came from the other end. "Hi, you left your phone in the taxi. I happened to find it. Do you want to come to the police station to get it, or should I bring it to you?"

"Huh?"

Melinda was stunned, the joy of recovering her phone making her breathe a sigh of relief.

"Could you bring it to me? How much would you like as a reward?" She had lost her phone before while abroad and had given a $20 reward when it was returned.

The person on the other end was silent for a moment before saying, "I don't want money. Just treat me to a meal."

"A meal? No problem." Melinda thought the request was reasonable. She was lucky the person wasn't greedy; otherwise, she would have been in big trouble.

She gave him the address of the lab.

"I'll be there in about twenty minutes," the man said before hanging up.

Melinda made sure to be at the lab entrance early to wait.

About twenty minutes later, a taxi pulled up beside her. She leaned forward to see who

it was.

The window rolled down, revealing a handsome young man inside.

"Ms. Sharp?"

"Yes, yes." Melinda nodded excitedly.

The man took her phone from the passenger seat and handed it to her. "Check to

make sure it's not damaged."

Melinda inspected the phone and found it intact. She nodded gratefully.

"Remember, you owe me a big meal," the man said with a smile.

"Thank you for keeping my phone safe!" she said happily.

"My name is Marc Murray. I'm a programmer. I have a meeting to attend, so maybe next time?" Marc scratched his head shyly, feeling a bit awkward around the pretty girl.

"Of course. Give me your contact information, and I'll treat you then." Melinda nodded. After exchanging contact information, Melinda watched Marc's taxi drive away before heading back inside.

As soon as she got to her office, her phone rang.

She answered with a frown, "I'm very busy, Mr. Thomas. What do you want?"

"Come to my office," the voice on the other end was deep and commanding, leaving no room for refusal.

"I have to pick up Sam later. I don't have time." Melinda refused without hesitation.

"I'll go with you," Raymond said firmly.

"No, thank you!" she replied even more firmly and hung up.

She sighed, exasperated. "Raymond is like a ghost that won't go away."
